When I first came to the UK I lived in Sutton for 2,5 years. It truly was the happiest time of my life, l love Sutton high street, Finnigan’s fish and chips and Number One Thai restaurant, I hope all my ex neighbours are keeping well... a piece of my heart will always be in Sutton. Hopefully one day I will be back... ❤️
My friend just got back from Sutton (his home town). He said it hasn't changed since the last time he was there which was 19 years ago. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for posting this video, an American living in Sutton for 2 years. I lived in Sutton in the late 80s and it brought back some fond memories Unfortunately I've lost contact with some kind friends. Having lived on Brighton Road near Sutton Station, I expected to see the Speghetti Tree, my favorite.
@southlondonguy Thank you, I became a regular and the proprietor and kitchen staff became neighbor-friendly, The owner taught me how to make his Puttanesca sauce. Several years back I caught an error in their website and notified them and was told he was retired and they have expanded to other locations. I lived at Raeburn House, ground floor. So convenient. Cheers.
As a Foreigner from the Continent, I have visited Sutton several times. Even then, and now watching the video, I think about how consistently they protect their charming traditional British architectural style a few hundred meters from here. But on the main street, well ... Along with that, Surrey and of course Sutton are also amazing.
lol that's funny. are you by any chance french? i the 80s we used to get lots of french visitors because they were working on the eurotunnel and were based in sutton for some reason. i worked in throwley way car park and tried to use my schoolboy french with french customers
@@tonyclifton265 No, I came from a little further away. From there, where the conquest of the Ottoman Empire erased almost all architectural monuments from the Renaissance and earlier periods. :(

Lovely video of Sutton High Street. I am sending it to my friend Ken who lives in Long Island, New York. I am grateful for this video. Blessings! ✌🏻❤️🍀🙏
Post pandemic and most have the shops on the high street are no longer there. Times Square is nearly empty too 😔such a shame because Sutton used to be quite nice.
There is CEX game store in sutton in london can someone do a video of it so we can see we want to see inside at CEX store at sutton see what it looks like make a video please anyone 😁😁😁😁😁😁 3:56
I have tried to give Sutton Council CCTV footage of the fly tippers in my area but they are not interested. I have made 3 complaints but none have been answered. I recently found out the fly tipper works for the council because Sutton council told him my address.
Post pandemic and lots of the shops on the high street have gone. Times Square is also a shadow of what it was. Shame because Sutton used to be quite nice.
nothing exciting really happens in sutton, no celebrity events, sports promotions, it's not pro-structure enough, huge problems, tax money has been poured into roadworks, that's literally it
@Staedler Staedlerr not worth the hassle, the houses should be free...the council controls everything and they haven't helped the town scratch the surface growth-wise. More improvement on the build of the town and the maintenance and landscape of parks and architecture....
Sutton used to be a nice place back in the 80s, 90s. Too many foreigners now, and the thick common type. Used to have a few eccentrics, Jesus, the Wizard man, Arsenal Tony, Miss Havisham and Spike, all dead now.
There's a cardinal that doesn't walk around Sutton anymore...sucks I get nothing but horrible looks and can't wait for lockdown to be over....no chance for finding a girlfriend....also people are preference tuned as hell...
Sth LDN QPR I remember that the grapes was the grapes in the early eighties and then it was changed to a pasta house and went through various different guides for years but I still miss London I live in Kent and I never thought that I would miss home but I do
Wonderland is closed, the only half decent nightclub, the town is set up like a desolate grey brick pathed high Street with a lack of people, poor structure and too in-and-out for most people's tastes. There's a new O!burger along with the McDonald's and kfc and pizza express that were already in Sutton. There's virtually no warmth in the community and people don't come together a lot in terms of housing associations, outdoor and town committee fund events. There's a new steak restaurant opposite the newly refurbished empire cinema. The town is 50/50 if you are looking for a place to stay as there are only two hotels and it's cramped in terms of housing, building design, comfortability and complete compact layout.... In other words... don't come if you aren't on benefits
It needs the tourism.... unfortunately all the businesses are privatised and council taxing isn't scratching the surface....looks like it's going to stay a dead end town
piece of shof Sutton is safe asf 😂 the only down side of Sutton is that it borders with Mitcham and Croydon and they’re the areas you gotta watch out for they’re the chavvy areas
Lived in Sutton for 2 years in the early-mid 90s. Went back on a visit in 2019 and did this very same walk. Warm memories.

You must come and visit Sutton in person, Savannah, the area surrounding Sutton is lovely too..
I live in Tooting but occasionally I take a trip on the 280 here because it’s such a nice place

Suttons a great place , much nicer than Croydon or Mitcham and much cheaper than Kingston
You can't really do anything there

how is the way of living in sutton for young people (below 30years old)? Are bars open and active on a Saturday night?
Man I haven’t been there for 10 years almost. But as far as I remember bars are on point as it should be
Great vid. Do you happen to know if Shinners was demolished to make Waterstones or if they just re-clad it..? cheers
mike j it was demolished years ago but after shinners
It went to Allders
I live in Sutton, it’s a great place I really recommend it 🥰
Is Sutton good place to shift for better kids school ?
I'm watching from NZ. It's nice to see where my ancestors were from.

I see some people wearing thick jackets and I see some people wearing just T-shirts, how's the weather over there, is it getting cooler already?
