The lobster war is one of the pettiest wars in history and that is hilarious. Close to the conclusion of the war in international court, a brazilian Naval Officer and Oceanographer famously said in response to the french argument that lobsters are fish because they swim “by analogy, if a lobster is a fish because it moves around by hopping, a canguru is a bird”.

The war between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Russia was kind of a bloodless war. It started when Great Britain declared war on Russia in 1853, and then, because Berwick has switched from England to Scotland and back again so many times, Parliament including "Berwick-upon-Tweed" in the declaration of war. Unfortunately, when the Crimean War ended, the diplomats forgot to include Berwick. In 1966, Berwick and the USSR finally signed an official peace treaty.

Michigan and Ohio nearly went to war. Michigan and Ohio had competing claims to Toledo. The Ohio militia massed at Michigan's border. The federal government got involved and gave Michigan the upper peninsula in exchange for giving up their claims to Toledo. There was one casualty however. The sheriff of Monroe county.

5:45 I wonder if the firing of the gun was unauthorized.
Spoiler alert notice for a very good film called "The Bedford Incident." The movie ends when the captain says, "I won't fire first, but if he fires one, I'll fire one.
The weapons officer says, "Fire one." and presses the button, launching a rocket propelled torpedo, which goes on to hit and sink the Soviet submarine.
Then the destroyer sees an incoming torpedo. When it hits the screen goes pure white, then fades slowly to black, employing that the torpedo had a nuclear warhead.

The two countries proceeded to take turns planting their flags on the island and exchanging alcoholic beverages. 😆
