I LOVE the new backgroud. I think it's fun that it's busy and shows all the places you've traveled. Better than everyone else copying each other with with shelves lit up with neon lights! ❤️
IMO the background is good for other vlogers cause they r not as beautiful Lucy...IMO any backgound just distracts from Lucy's lovely face and perfect mannerism.
While you're home I'd like to see some England port city tours, like if you find yourself in South Hampton here's some things to do, if you end up in London you should do this. Love the show.
Have done multiple cruises (more than 20] on Royal Caribbean and totally agree that the food on the mega ships is definitely substandard but more importantly the mega ships are a child magnet. I now compare Royal Caribbean to Disney where they cater to children. Had our first cruise on Virgin in November 2023 and the food was the best I had ever eaten on a cruise ship. That combined with no children and I am now a Virgin cruise line convert. We have already booked our next cruise on Virgin.
When you were on the previous ship but weren't allowed to identify it many people were guessing that it was one of the Disney ships. Guess they were right.
The background is great. I’ve completed 101 cruises to date and I have 3 magnetic boards (like yours) full of fridge magnets. They didn’t fit on my fridge after a while. I met you on a Virgin Voyages ship from Portsmouth in 2022 - Valiant Lady.
I think the new background is cute! Also, you aren't the only cruise crew youtuber to be disappointed in the crew mess on Royal. It's an especially dismal situation apparently if you have any dietary restrictions, special diets, allergies, preferences (vegetarian), etc. I hope Royal is watching/listening/learning and will do better.
The food! I feel for you. We sailed as sailors on Carnival Celebration. The food was gross, cold, and dressing at the salad bar was spoiled. 🤢, had partially cooked lobster tail. Even the specialty dining the food was barely edible. Lost weight and wasted $$. Sailed VV for our 2nd time, a few weeks ago. The food is simply the best. The wait staff remember who you are and brought us our coffee and water without asking. Even if we sat at a different table, we got spotted and served, and they would let the waiter know that we like this or that. On Celebration the food was stacked on rolling carts, covered dishes, while the wait staff busy serving drinks, having 10-15 tables to serve, after everyone had drinks, mes ordered 40 minutes ago are ready to head to the tables. I won't sail a big ship again. I like the personal touch and getting to know the crew. So, it's not that you didn't try to meet and make friends. Too many people easy to get lost in the crowd.
Keep the magnetic poster and all the magnets. I remember some time ago you said you collect magnets from the places you've been. It makes your background a "cruiser's place".
After hearing you talk about how well Disney treat their staff it's surprising that they're so secretive about it. Right now they can use all the good things people have to say about them.
yes!!! our family has been blessed to cruised many ships on Disney, Royal and Princess and Carnival...our fav is STILL the small Royal ship Grandure of the Sea. It has been retired 😢
Lucy, thanks for a another great, and super-honest, video! You are SO RIGHT regarding "on-line training" (which IS different than "on-line" schooling/education, 'cuz that you are doing for yourself, not because it's part of your job). Most people I see that took their professional training "on-line", are close-to-clueless. But, what disturbs me here is that RC is doing this with Safety Training! ☹ That just doesn't seem right, but that's our modern world, huh? As for your other points about working on a Mega-Ship, and working now-a-days on Royal, I see Virgin Voyages in your future? (even if there isn't as much money in it, there is a LOT more to life than money!) As for your "experimenting" with content, go-for-it! We're here for ya'....travel-log, adventures, etc., all would be great (but, yeah they cost you money, so I understand). Happy Christmas! 😀🎄
Hey John, Unfortunately it is the way the world seems to be going. Everything online and whilst some of that is great, I do think there is something to be said about an in-person teaching! I would love to work for virgin again in the future! We will see... Thank you for the continued support! I hope you and your mom have a wonderful Christmas!! 💗
I think your new background is a neat idea. Gave me the idea to do something like this in my home office as a border or chair rail kind of thing. Very interesting insights on your mega ship crew experience.
Very interesting comments Lucy. My wife and I cruised on Quantum a couple of years ago. We can say that as passengers on smaller Royal ships in the past. We found the smaller ships were more intimate and more friendly. Just our humble opinion.
I worked on a mega ship, it was called the US Enterprise aircraft carrier, as one of the few US Army Helicopter crew members… it was big, the barrack or crew sleeping area. Was not private it was cramped. Three months on it and I couldn’t wait to get off it. It took 19 years to get me on a cruise ship my wife booked it and said we’re going.
We have been spoiled having been on Virgin! But I agree. Royal and Carnival were the two worst cruises for food IMHO. Look forward to your next adventure while you are on land. Maybe do a little trip to Bletchley and some interesting places while home?? Big hugs! Happy Christmas!
I follow alot of flight attendants mostly. I like to follow different kinds of people with different jobs. I actually love your channel. With or without cruise content. I think your life is interesting. So you can post whatever you want.
Hi Lucy first off I’m glad you seem much more relaxed and I loved this video because you compared the difference of the different cruise lines and the size of the ships ! Great job beautiful lady and enjoy the holidays!
My wife and I boarded Harmony December 3rd, as passengers. We looked forward to meeting you and telling you how much we enjoyed your RUclips content. Sadly we missed you. Keep up the good work and we may have better luck next time.
I’ve cruised on both small and mega ships, I find that the small ships offer a quieter experience and an opportunity to get to know the crew so much better. Large ships provide too much stimulation and crowds on board are really not my thing. It’s nice to be able to mingle without incessant noise coming from every direction. And there is really nothing better than a stroll along the promenade.
Hi, I am retired, and my friend and I love to cruise when we can afford it. I really enjoy watching your videos it's very interesting. Sad to think of all the crew on the mega ship with not good food that makes me sad. Keep up the good work and loving the background.
So upset...am goin on harmony on ja 28th and was excited to hopefully meet you Lucy and say hello...kind of a bummer...enjoy your time off Lucy...merry Christmas and happy new year.
Here is a question for you (or any other passengers) - if you were given the chance to have dinner at the table with the captain or dinner at Lucy's table, which would you choose?
Hey, Lucy finally got to see your latest video. We’re out of state and visiting family for the Holidays. We see that you took our idea and added a background to your videos. We too have magnet boards filled with magnets where we have been and love the one you have for a background. We hope in the future we will be able to sail again and meet up with you and Josh. Love Les and Darlene.
Lucy, many videos ago you covered what gifts shipboard crew might appreciate, and mentioned food from home countries. I’m just finishing a cruise now where I brought Philippine snacks for our cabin stewards, and they loved it. Boy Bwang Cornick in a hot garlic flavor, and some Beng Beng chocolates. Thank you so much for the advice.
Very interesting comparison with your mega-ship experience versus your smaller ship experiences. Thank you for sharing. I'm looking forward to your experimenting with the vlog content.
Really interesting that hearing that safety is one of your biggest concerns about working on a Mega-ship. That has been my concern also. In an emergency would they be able to put between 5,000 - 10,000 people into lifeboats and down into the sea in two hours or less.
Thank you for sharing with us. I was on wonders of the Sea last January had a good time the food was OK I didn’t do any specialty dining this year February I’ll be getting on Harmony of the seas from Galveston and we are going to do some specialty dining, so I hope everything turns out good and I think it’s amazing that you’re able to do this job and share your opinion because it means a lot to me as a cruiser. God bless you and happy holidays.
I believe you. I don’t like the mega ships either. I find the crew is so much more friendly on the 1800-3100 passengers. 😊. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Another interesting video. Cruising for the first time in four days. Son is a main stage performer on Disney Dream. I’ve learned so much about crew life from you and I know he has too. (I like your background.)
Your background is really interesting. Might be an idea if you showed us some of the ones with the most memorable stories behind them and tell us a bit about them. Just an idea...
You are not alone. As a passenger I don’t like the mega ships. But I’m an old man (60) and I remember what old school cruising was like. (Before 1990) it was close to what the very expensive cities ships are like but not that expensive. Carnival, the Walmart of cruising, showed the industry how to go down scale and make huge profits. They were able to introduce the masses to cruising at very reasonable prices. But just like they’ve made air travel inexpensive by removing services, they have done the same to cruising. And not to sound to much like an old fart, the passengers are different too. I remember traveling in the 80s as a young man and on both ships and planes the passengers treated the crews better and the crews certainly treated the passengers better. The ships hadn’t instituted mandatory tips but on the other hand, they didn’t need to. It was very rare that a cabin steward or waiter was stiffed by his passengers. Security wasn’t as strict either. Cruise ships didn’t confiscate alcohol as you came up the gangway. It wasn’t till the 2000s and we were on a 3 night cruise out of Miami on Carnival that I ever saw passengers that were clearly out of line and what was then the very small ships security team have to respond. Now days the big cruise ships have what amounts to small police depts, just not with lethal weapons. So, I’ll try and stick to the smaller ships on the cruise lines marketed towards and older crowd like HAL and such. I’ll leave the floating cities and the floating frat houses to the younger set.
The travel board has always been your best background way back during covid and it in the far background. At first I thought was was stickers on a suitcase. When you are short on video ideas maybe go over the magnets (I think)
I like doing a variety of ships re size and re class of cruise lines…So I will book Royal, Celebrity, Azamara, Oceania, and maybe someday Silversea., To me, it makes the travel experience more interesting. Working on a ship is another matter, of course.
Wife and I loke smaller ship as we are retired and don't use water slides.Larger ships do have better shows.Just more relaxing on smaller ships. Wish you the best on your next adventure.
Love to see a series of you taking a cruise as a passenger and doing the videos from your stateroom. Totally different perspective than any other cruise reviewer out there. Who knows, you may never go back to cruising as crew again and become travel blogger full time reviewing the cruise industry...
Hey there Eric! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I would love to be a full time cruise reviewer. Can you imagine!!! What a dream that is. 😍 Thank you for watching and for your continued support. Means the world!!
Love your videos except for the noisy screeching music you sometimes add. I'm an old lady, hehe. Would rather you just chatted about the sand, trees, or whatever. I will watch any content you would like to share with us. Thank you.
Not a crew member but I think the best insights to any experience come from the folks who work for a company. Your terrific videos are always helpful (and I tend to agree with your priorities). So far I've only been on Cunard and Viking, whose crews are spectacular. Recently retired. Love travel. Love your "insider reports" and WOULD be very interested in your thoughts on various ports, including Southampton! Thank you Lucy...have a wonderful break.
Love listening to you! I’m not a fan of Megaships. I personally have only been on 1 RC cruise but have been on 8 Celebrity cruises on all 3 classes of ships. I prefer midsized ships.
If you think RCL had bad food, try the food on P&O Australia 😅. My mum was so displeased when i showed her the food i eat at the crew mess on board P&O .
My husband did a short contract on Iona and basically said the same as you. Plus they didn't generally get to eat as the queues were so long in the mess..
Excellent video Lucy. I had similar experience to your's in 2015 when i worked as a Photographer for the Image Group. I got transferred from Disney Magic to Allure of the Seas. At that time there was not that much pressure on the Allure maybe because we were in the Mediterranean and the usual moneymakers (casino, shops, spa, photo, bars...) were struggling because the guests were all day in ports. Anywayz, there were many cultural shocks for me, i can write pages and pages with all the events that freaked me out in positive or in negative way. When it comes to privileges I heard from a lot of people that photographers on Royal have more privileges than on Disney, but in reality the only benefit was being able to drink hard liquor in the bars and the main downside was not having a housekeeper. I looooved my housekeepers on Disney, while on Royal i didn't have one. And about the food in the crew mess, maybe because we were in Europe the food was decent while on Disney the food was edible or good no matter where the ship is. Enjoy your vacay, looking forward for your new videos.
I've cruised on 2 mega ships (Symphony OTS and Wonder OTS). Before our first megaship experience (Symphony), we were a bit nervous that it would simply be too big, too much of a theme park for our tastes (a 40-something yr old couple). We found that it wasn't too big, but Symphony had a kind of....sterile feel to it. We thought maybe it was the "mega" element of it at that point. A few months after that trip, we ran into another couple we know, and they had booked a cruise on Wonder and wanted us to book the same cruise. We obliged, and were thrilled to find out that there were a few significant differences that made the Wonder a much better experience. The Mason Jar is a fun spot with great bartenders and live music that gave us a very friendly vibe that we NEVER found on Symphony. Also, there were a few differences in the restaurant seating around Central Park (more outdoor seating, I think) that made it feel that much cozier. Also, for whatever reason we became closer to our cabin steward and our wait staff than we had on Symphony. I'm not totally sure why. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip on Wonder so much that we are planning 2 more cruises on her to introduce friends (March 2024) and family (February 2025) to this type of cruising experience on that beautiful ship.
I KNEW IT! How did you find Disney? I know you can’t speak as much but I wonder how it was for you… Btw love this video, nobody ever talks about those things
Hi Lucy the reason you had more privileges on Disney and was more relaxed was because Disney is allegedly the "Happiest Place on Earth" so if the crew is happy they will go the extra mile to make the passengers even more happy plus Disney is more exclusive premium line comes more spoils and Disney is like family in where Royal Caribbean could care less if the crew is happy or not they are a mega commercial brand and will replace you with a snap of a finger and they know the employees will do what they are told if they want to send money home to there loved ones its no different then land jobs why do some companies offer amazing benefits and perks while others are just minimum wage slave like jobs with nothing but headaches
Just finished my first RC (I am a passenger) and we thought RCs food was not great. Very disappointed. Don’t think we will sail with them again. BTW, know why you were running back to your room, josh is one lucky fellow! 😊
I immediately noticed and love the background! Maybe it’s a tiny bit distracting… but better than the very white room. Sorry. I agree with you about training. In-person/taught is better than video review training. Even Zoom with an actual teacher is better than just videos.
When I do cruise on Royal Caribbean I only cruise on the mega ships. I personally cannot sell on something that’s small. It’s got to be huge. I enjoy sailing with 5000 to 7000 people. I just can’t do anything smaller than that. And I would give working on a mega ship a second chance specially symphony of the seas or wonder of the seas or the new ship icon of the seas those three you can’t beat
Yeah, I can definitely see the appeal when cruising because there is so much to do! You're probably right! Maybe I need to try another to really get a good comparison! Thanks for watching! Xx
Well, as a passenger, it's a bit alarming that the crew is not well trained and doesn't take safety seriously on Harmony, since I will be cruising in January. The only Royal mega ship I have sailed on is Allure of the Seas and that was during the post-pandemic restart. It was fantastic but there were only 2900 passengers, which at that time was the most they had had on any sailing post-pandemic. I assume Harmony will be near or at full capacity so I'm hoping I still "love" the experience with the larger crowds. I'm so looking forward to the ship experience that I haven't even bothered booking any shore excursions. Question... Now that you are no longer on Disney Wish, will you be able to tell us about your experience? Would you sign on with Disney again, if the opportunity arises?
I worked with RCI on a megaship years ago as a performer- and the rules are ridiculously. Its a very archaic hierarchy system with RCI, it really turned me off from them. They love acting like its the military- when in fact uts an amusement park with a water slide on it 😂
Love an honest video. I prefer medium ships without the adrenaline based entertainment. On my last cruise food was edible but not good and service with a smile absent! Looking forward to your experimental videos.
We have been on a number of cruises with a mix of companies. We have enjoyed almost all but MSC Virtuosa was awful! We were only on her 4 days and that was more than enough… P&O Britannia and Iona were good, Cunard QM2 was interesting and we love a Marella cruise - easy going, decent food, fantastic staff - we even took me Mum on a Fred Olsen cruise too, not our cuppa, but better than MSC 😂😂 We much prefer smaller ships. Enjoy your time off and experimentation with content!!
@@donlinsky7588yacht club might be fine - we were not in the yacht club. The main ship’s crew were unhappy, unhelpful and disinterested. There were not enough seating areas in the bars for the number of passengers and service was abysmal. We spoke to a lady who had cruised with MSC for years and said this was the last cruise she would book with them because the decline was getting worse. We certainly will never book with them again. I hope if you do book you enjoy it.
I was always told that smaller ships were less stressful than big ships but from a cruise staffs perspective that wasn’t true. On big ships we had a bigger team and sports staff and smaller ships there was no sports staff so we had to do everything including side duties which wernt in our job description. Whereas big ships we only did that we were assigned to do. Everyone’s experience is different I suppose
I worked onboard Wonder of the Seas “largest” cruise ship in the world at that time and I hate it. Coming from a 2,500 capacity to an almost 7,000 made the difference. Same amount of crew for a 4,000 capacity was crazy, I asked my manager for more people and he told me that was the amount they have approved by the cruise line. Somebody told me that was my worst idea to work there and I didn’t listen guess what that person was right 😅
Hi, I love your videos!! I’m 15 and I’ve been on 7 cruises and I’m going on my 8th over Christmas. I usually go to the teen club and meet a lot of people. Last time I talked to the man that worked in the teen club a lot. He played games with us all the time and told us about South Africa, where he was from. It was so fun talking to him and he made the cruise really fun. I was thinking about working on a cruise ship after college to save up money and just do something new. How do you get hired to work in the teen or kids club? Like what credits do you need? I want to look into it but I’m not sure where to find that information.
Hi there, from us over here in the Fingerlakes of UpState New York! Interesting seeing you home after just boarding the Mega we thought. Heard you speak about your new future hub`ster being transferred. But, why did you leave exactly? Whatever the reason. It does sound like it was an advantageous gesture ;- ]
I sail only on Royal Caribbean, and only on the mega ships. I was on harmony of the seas about a week before you started your contract with Harmony. I agree with you the food and harmony is not too good. But the food on the symphony of the seas and wonder of the seas is better tasting. And when the icon comes out next month, the food is gonna be wonderful on that ship too. My personal opinion is the food is better on a newer ships than the older ones. Just my opinion.
Great background. Actually, the white wall was distracting. {Now get the electrical switch on the wall repaired.) Also, a picture of Josh on the board behind you would be nice. Take care.
I LOVE the new backgroud. I think it's fun that it's busy and shows all the places you've traveled. Better than everyone else copying each other with with shelves lit up with neon lights! ❤️
Thank you! Glad you like it!
I agree, I'd sort that wonky light switch out though 😊

Disney is not known for being transparent about what goes on behind the scenes.
It's all "To preserve the MAGIC".
@@alanholck7995 True. Disney guards their "secrets" and controls their image to an extreme level.

Thank you. Hopefully one day!

You should totally cruise as a passenger on both classes and do a video comparing small vs large as crew vs passenger.

Love the honesty. It’s good to hear the comparison between cruise companies and the benefits you get as crew.
I personally do not care to go on a mega-ship it looks unsafe if a large safety issue happens. Your background is awesome.
Love hearing your 'behind the scenes' views about cruising!
Love the new background! Gosh, I thought it was just me not liking that bland wall, but now, your hair and skin tone POP!
Hi Lucy first off I’m glad you seem much more relaxed and I loved this video because you compared the difference of the different cruise lines and the size of the ships ! Great job beautiful lady and enjoy the holidays!

I like your travel wall.
Thanks Lucy. Always love when you post a video. Would also love to see videos of you as a passenger and of England if you have time. Happy Christmas !
We really love the new background tooooo! It looked like you were living in a nursing home previously ;- ]
The travel board has always been your best background way back during covid and it in the far background. At first I thought was was stickers on a suitcase. When you are short on video ideas maybe go over the magnets (I think)
Love your videos. Would love to see you cruise as a guest and give honest reviews. Love your honesty ❤ enjoy your time home. Merry Christmas 🎄
I like doing a variety of ships re size and re class of cruise lines…So I will book Royal, Celebrity, Azamara, Oceania, and maybe someday Silversea.,
To me, it makes the travel experience more interesting. Working on a ship is another matter, of course.
I enjoy your honesty. In my career, I liked smaller companies.
I found DCL to be even more chill than p&o in some ways, and food was good in crew mess
I like your new backdrop, Lucy. Happy Holidays! ❤
Thank you! You too!
Thank you very much for your honest critic Lucy!
Keep the new background. And secondly would love to see a Lucy and Emma go on a cruise!!!
Wife and I loke smaller ship as we are retired and don't use water slides.Larger ships do have better shows.Just more relaxing on smaller ships. Wish you the best on your next adventure.
I love your new background, will we get a video tour of each of the items?
Cheers too you i have cabin fever have a great Christmas and new year
Love to see a series of you taking a cruise as a passenger and doing the videos from your stateroom.
Thank you for watching and for your continued support. Means the world!!
Love your videos except for the noisy screeching music you sometimes add. I'm an old lady, hehe. Would rather you just chatted about the sand, trees, or whatever. I will watch any content you would like to share with us. Thank you.
Did you see her videos as a passenger on Virgin?
@@kathryncashner3294 no, I will have to go look for that one and check it out!
I'd love to see the sights in your area. I'm in the US and may never get across the pond, enjoy your holidays🎉
Noted! Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!
Love the backgroun! Are those magnets of the countries you've visited?
15:15 "What the hell is this sh#t" very funny! 😅😅
The background is definitely good enough! Happy holidays, enjoy your extended vacation! Looking forward to the change in content!
Great video and interesting comments. However I like background but hope you get the electric switch fixed and straight. Happy Xmas thanks x
Love the background, where did you get the magnetic board? I need one, my fridge has no more room🤣😝
Can you speak to a nurse working on cruise ships? Im a nurse looking for work on board and im finding it very hard to find anything.
I KNEW IT! How did you find Disney? I know you can’t speak as much but I wonder how it was for you…
Btw love this video, nobody ever talks about those things
You’ve pretty much summarised why I hate mega ships from a passengers pov
I like the magnets. Not planning a mega ship trip. We really like the smaller ships.
Please rec a video about your souvenirs and all things you bought from the different places you’ve been!
Just finished my first RC (I am a passenger) and we thought RCs food was not great. Very disappointed. Don’t think we will sail with them again. BTW, know why you were running back to your room, josh is one lucky fellow! 😊
Interesting viewpoint. Not sure I would like working on a cruise ship, but it's interesting to look at it from another viewpoint.
I immediately noticed and love the background! Maybe it’s a tiny bit distracting… but better than the very white room. Sorry.
I agree with you about training. In-person/taught is better than video review training. Even Zoom with an actual teacher is better than just videos.
Hey, no need to apologise, I love the feedback!
The in person training is definitely better. Hopefully they bring it back! Thanks for watching!
You are so cool. Very smart and informative. Love your video and all your travels
Thanks so much!
Xx
I really enjoyed your background, but please, fix that light switch 😂❤
Would you sign on with Disney again, if the opportunity arises?
you are looking so cheerful and chirpy! I love this kind of insight. keep on keeping on babe 😘😄
Thank you Charlotte!
What was wrong with MSC? We want to try them in the Yacht Club this year.
Somebody told me that was my worst idea to work there and I didn’t listen guess what that person was right 😅
@@sindomicilio working on a ship that big must be hard a agree. my biggest ship was Ovation of the seas, so a bit smaller
Ahh okay, that's interesting! So I need to try the newer ships to really get a good comparison then! Thank you so much for watching xx
I like the background because it means something. White would be fine if you were a brunette, but it probably washed you out more than you’d like.
So which RC ship would you recommend for a senior couple.
Cunard food was excellent for crew members 🎉
Great background. Actually, the white wall was distracting. {Now get the electrical switch on the wall repaired.) Also, a picture of Josh on the board behind you would be nice. Take care.
Awsome idea! The photo and the light switch ha ha xx
I love the magnets
