Thank you Shane for having William Ludwig lll on your show! Those drums sounds great and that snare what a beast looking forward seeing the rest of it!!
My good friend Bill Ludwig III has really knocked it out of the park with the latest version maple/poplar shells, and the redesigned lugs. Who better to bring back the old Ludwig recipe and sound than Bill Ludwig himself? Best American drums on the market!!! The demo proves that. The tone comes through loud and clear, that breathy, 3-ply sound. :) Looking forward to mine someday.
Drums sound great. I think I have an old catalog that has a picture of the three generations of Bill Ludwigs. Great family, great name, great tradition.
Leave it to a Ludwig !!!! These drums sound phenomenal!! Not only Full Mixed, they sound great through the Overhead Mics and the Room Mics !!!!!!!! Unthinkable...!!! Nice to hear from the Man himself, and how he jumped back into the business to carry on the Legacy!!! One more thing, I may be biased, but nothing sounds like the Old School “ Zildjian “A” cymbals... LOVE THEM FOREVER!!!! Thanks again , Great video... Kevin McM
I've watched a BUNCH of DCP's videos. This WFL III kit sounds great and the best of any I can remember when switching to OH mics. The room mics sound really good too. And of course the full mix goes without saying. The DCP Crew put together the best demos, hands down of anyone out there. They go above and beyond.
Awesome drums! My first drum was a Ludwig Acrolite aluminum snare drum when Ludwig was in Elkhart, Indiana and I am a native of Indiana. I love these videos and have some much admiration and respect for Mr. Ludwig as well as Shane and his awesome crew
Bobby T Torello's kit, right? From a few weeks back? They sounded killer. Then, of course, Steve Smith proceeded to blow our heads off with his Sonors in his clinic.
@@49russman yes and yes! I'm saving for a WFL III snare. Steve was amazing! Even more amazing was his sound with just the overhead mics! Glad I got to attend!
Me too, brother. Steve is just phenomenal. A case can definitely be made for him being the best drummer alive right now. And I really loved the Zildjian demo, too.
I got a buddy who's a huge Beatles fan. He has the Ringo reissue kit at his house. He lets me play them on occasion. Best sounding drums I've ever heard.
Really excellent sounding drums! I own a few vintage Ludwig drums (in black oyster pearl of course) and these drums really sound like they have that sound. If I'm being totally honest, I'd probably spend the money on some vintage WFL drums before going for a set of these, but for folks who don't want to deal with old hardware, and often less-than pristine condition vintage drums (particularly those old kick drums,) these seem like an excellent choice.
Nice kit..love that finish. So glad to see the WFL legacy being carried on. Bass drum really 'kicks'. Will have to watch to see what they come up with for finishes and configurations. Maybe a small 'bop' kit in natural (unwrapped) maple finish? Better save my pennies!
People need to realize that there are a TON of great brands that source out their shells to Keller. SJC, Gretsch and many others have their own proprietary shell construction. Keller has been doing it for years and they do it very well.
Not sure if anyone will ever get my message from Drum center - but what happened to WFL ? When I go in your site you are not selling these drums ? I loved this kit but can’t find it. Thanks
Bravo Shane. Hands down the best drum channel on RUclips. Wow, even with the overhead mics those Tom's and kick drum just sing! I still have my Ludwig super classics. I just can't seem to sell them even though I want the Tama Star Walnut in the same shell dimensions that I have now. 14X20 9X12 14X14 & my black Galaxy Ludwig acrolite snare. 🥁🇺🇸🤘
I’m a huge Buddy Rich fan & author of The Ultimate Drummers Workout Buddy Rich’s Rudiments Around the Kit and the revised Buddy Rich’s Modern Interpretation of Snare Drum Rudiments. The tonal quality of these drums knock me out!
Drum Center of Portsmouth thank you for response, and thank you from the UK for your fantastic video’s, always very informative and beautifully produced and recoded 👍
Well, I'm speechless! Very great sounding drums! Great job with the audio! Notice that the rack tom stand is kinda squeezing the bottom hoop. It does help with the resonance, I have done that, don't see it often.
Don't think you guy's caught the part where he SELLS THE COMPANY! Mr. Ludwig is Drum Royalty but I think he probably fell on hard times. Why was he washing his own dishes?.... he needs $$$.
Great sounding drums! Congratulations B3, your father and grandfather must be very proud of you!!
Thank you Shane for having William Ludwig lll on your show! Those drums sounds great and that snare what a beast looking forward seeing the rest of it!!
Great job Shane.
Bill Ludwig III is percussion royality!
Thanks, Matthew. He sure is!
I have a set of WFLiii. They are phenomenal. Truly a breath of fresh air this company. Thanks B3. Absolute legend!

The aluminum snare sounded awesome! Loved the way the rack Tom sounded too. Fantastic.

When the going gets tough the tough get more snare drums. This will be my next one. One day my grandchildren will have some nice gear!
Kit sounds great. I will be taking a look at these. Thank you for sharing this.

the kick drum sounded particularly good. enjoyed the interview with III
One of the best sounding snares ive ever heard, just amazing also the rest of the kit
These WFL III snares are INSANE. Sound so damn good. The kit is nice too!!
Just got my kit LLLOOOOVVEEEE it ! Warm buttery and the drums are very VERY high quality

Awesome, thank you so much!
Sound great. Seems like a very humble proud guy. Just for that reason alone I take interest in his products. Make em the old way .... the right way
Holy moly. These sound awesome!
Impressive, have the WFLIII Snare but the whole kit sounds awesome.
Quite possibly the best kit as far as sound goes I have youtube listened to. Then again the drummer in this video is awesome.

Love your drums Mr.Ludwig. Maybe some day, I can buy one.
Woo wee! That’s a nice sounding kit.
These drums sound great and Bill is such a nice guy. I heard his drums at the Connecticut drum show and they sounded great!

What a wonderful sound! Amazing drums!
Beautiful sounding drums. I think I'm in love.

Great sound !!!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
I've been playing an original WFL bass drum for over 40 years… it's become an old friend…
A dream kit sounds perfect
Sounds exactly like my WFL set from 56. Awesome.
they do sound very good. dare i say exquisite sounding drums.

Very Very High quality great sounding! Old school craftsmanship....the end
I love the sound of those WFLIII drums. That snare sounds incredible. But, I’m wondering, what is that red snare in the background? At 0:21.
Nvm, I know what it is now.
These sound incredible!
Damn, those drums sound amazing.
👏👏👏👏👏👏🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁sounded awesome 3 plies best for miking and all around and im pretty happy about the product
Sounds even better than my starclassics and they were hand made in Japan.

Real Drum Legend!!!
Sounds amazing!
I wonder if WFL will eventually make shells like the 1950’s with mahogany poplar
mahogany with maple reinforcement rings.
Mellow and warm real summer coconut sound
Sounds fantastic.
What's with the sonor hilite?
Interested in buying this kit it sounds gorgeous. On his website it says the bass drum is 18" in depth though?
We custom ordered our sizes. it's 22x14.
The drumming was very nice.
Thank you Dana!
The snare sound almost made me cry
The first one.
@@cidboechat AMEN!!!
@@cidboechat I'LL SECOND THAT!!
I don’t like that snare, but the drums sound kickass!
Did you see the look on the second drummer's face? He couldn't wipe that smile off if you paid him. Beautiful sounding drums.
How do they differ from Sakae Trilogy, apart from mounts, same construction ?
The plies and overall shell are thinner on the WFLIII, and the re-rings are solid ply. The Trilogy re-rings were 4-ply.
Drum Center of Portsmouth thank you for response, and thank you from the UK for your fantastic video’s, always very informative and beautifully produced and recoded 👍
@@garethpepin6167 Thanks for the kind words. Cheers, Gareth!
Heavenly...
Well, I'm speechless! Very great sounding drums! Great job with the audio! Notice that the rack tom stand is kinda squeezing the bottom hoop. It does help with the resonance, I have done that, don't see it often.
So are these basically the same as the Ludwig legacy shell?
Basically, except the plies are thinner.
Youre Bonham has fun 👍
great drums!
Génial, quelle belle sonorité, c’est du ludwig
i don't know. they sound kind of soft to me. maybe if the drummer leaned in a little more...
That Snare is there. Super nice but needs one more tom
My Ludwig Rockers are maple Poplar maple
Very nice sounding drums. They have that unmistakable Ludwig sound, even more so than the current Ludwig drum company.
Fat and buttery! My only problem is...my want list just grew!
Sands Very Natural!!! NO Dumping Ludwig !!! come back!!!
3g's for a 3 piece. Alright.. I mean I get it. The history and all. But damn!
they're not the only ones in that price range
Wow!
O WELL I YOU SEE WE HAVE NO REAL DRUMMERS TO DEMO DRUM SETS JUST BANGING?
World class PHIL AMBROS!
@@drumcenternh Bahahah

Epic sounding drums. Shame I'll never be able to afford any of them. Too rich for my wallet.
let's rob a bank and at least we can buy that snare :)

It's a shame they don't make their own shells.
A E S T H E T I C _T E C H N O P A T H yeah seriously though. They’re basically just putting hardware and finish on someone else’s drums
And bearing edges....almost the most important part.
I mean to be fair, lots of companies have outsourced their shells in the past. Doesn’t stop them from sounding real good though.
Emilia Burg
Nowhere near as nice as the original WFl mahogany / polar / mahogany, but good luck to him.
Keller drums
$ 2700 ahh no !!
3 drums, 3 grand!

Nice fat sounds
THAT GUY NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION WHAT SO EVER ! : )

Great drums!
