@@user-dc1dr9kr8x I would imagine that a song 7 minutes 45 seconds would only be long enough to speak about some of the things that happened in Sonny Liston's life or the troubles that were part of his legacy. A beautiful ode to Sonny Liston, finally he gets some recognition for being perhaps the greatest heavy weight ever if the USA was another place back then or today for that matter.
Perhaps, unfair as it is, there were too many other greats. As for the US, some people don't want it to change, a la Sharpton. Some people should start reading to their kids, in infancy. Head Start and affirmative action have failed. Well-intentioned, but failed. You want something? Go get it.

J.L.Hooker had the same kind of (pure) sound, according to his period.. albert King sounded damn good too, but ok, no one comes close to him since those guys passed away
An absolutely exquisite in memoriam for a true black anti-hero. Dethroned by Cassius Clay, he died in obscurity, his memory defiled by the fight fixers who killed him: "At the foot of his bed with his feet on the floor There was dope in his veins and a pistol on the drawer There was no investigation as such He hated needles but he knew too much" I discovered the song on "One Take Sessions," that includes "Boom, Like That," a riveting first-person confessional from Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonalds a planet-wrecking juggernaut. Mark has a gift for these character sketches, very Dylanesque.
a fantastic song by one of the world greatest ever guitarists. A true musical genius whos feet are still firmly on the ground and whose modest humility and talent will forever be inspirational

Lyrics:
So many mouths to feed on the farm
Sonny was the second to the last one born
His mama ran away and his daddy beat him bad
And he grew up wild good love he never had
He had a left like Henry's hammer
A right like Betty Bamalam
Rode with the muggers in the dark and dread
And all them sluggers went down like lead
Well he hung with the hoods he wouldn't stroke the fans
But he had dynamite in both his hands
Boom bam like the slammer door
The bell and the can and the bodies on the floor
Beware the bear's in town
Somebody's money says the bear's going down
Yeah, the bear never smiles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
The writers didn't like him the fight game jocks
With his lowlife backers and his hands like rocks
They didn't want to have a bogey man
They didn't like him and he didn't like them
Black Cadillac alligator boots
Money in the pockets of his sharkskin suits
Some say the bear took a flop
They couldn't believe it when they saw him drop
He had a left like Henry's hammer
A right like Betty Bamalam
Rode with the muggers in the dark and dread
And all them sluggers went down like lead
Joe Louis was his hero he tried to be the same
But a criminal child wears a ball and chain
So the civil rights people didn't want him on the throne
And the hacks and the cops wouldn't leave him alone
Beware the bear's in town somebody's money says
The bear's going down
Yeah, the bear never smiles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
At the foot of his bed with his feet on the floor
There was dope in his veins and a pistol on the drawer
There was no investigation as such
He hated needles but he knew too much
Cris-crossed on his back
Scars from his daddy like slavery tracks
The second-last child was the second-last king
Never again was it the same in the ring
He had a left like Henry's hammer
A right like Betty Bamalam
Rode with the muggers in the dark and dread
And all them sluggers went down like lead
They never could be sure about the day he was born
A motherless child set to working on the farm
And they never could be sure about the day he died
The bear was the king they cast aside
Beware the bear's in town
Somebody's money says the bear's going down
Yeah, the bear never smiles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
Sonny's going down for miles and miles
Some day they're gonna write a
Blues for fighters.

This is just bloody tremendous !
Now that's music 🎶
Knopfler guitar virtuosity obscures his brilliance as a songwriter.
This song and your fingerstyte are amazing, you are the best for me ;)
Guitar Forever, Rock in Our Heart !
That sound!!!! Its just......
It's something else, ain't it? No one has done anything quite like it before or since.
J.L.Hooker had the same kind of (pure) sound, according to his period.. albert King sounded damn good too, but ok, no one comes close to him since those guys passed away
An absolutely exquisite in memoriam for a true black anti-hero. Dethroned by Cassius Clay, he died in obscurity, his memory defiled by the fight fixers who killed him:
"At the foot of his bed with his feet on the floor
There was dope in his veins and a pistol on the drawer
There was no investigation as such
He hated needles but he knew too much"
I discovered the song on "One Take Sessions," that includes "Boom, Like That," a riveting first-person confessional from Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonalds a planet-wrecking juggernaut. Mark has a gift for these character sketches, very Dylanesque.
I listen to this song AT LEAST once every two days... Mark you're THE BEST!
There is no one on this planet with your talent and genius
You are incomparably unique! 🎸🎶🎵🌘👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I really love the use of the double bass in this one, it has a very smooth and unique sound
God I love that voice and that smooth guitar.
a fantastic song by one of the world greatest ever guitarists. A true musical genius whos feet are still firmly on the ground and whose modest humility and talent will forever be inspirational
I couldn't have said it better myself 😀👍!!!!
Brilliant! Amazing performance of MK!
Beautiful 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great music with great lyrics... something today's artists can't do.
"The bell and the can and the bodies on the floor" RIP Mr.Liston.
Just brilliant
Holy fucouski, How’d I miss this jam!? I be digging it! 👍
