The beaches of starting zones are iconic because they'd give you this feel where you are, at least for a moment, out of whatever is going on in the zone, especially at creepy places like Tirisfal, you'd go to the shore and it's a normal beach with random creatures like murlocs or hounds around the place, and you can take a break from all the undead. Also in Eversong Woods, the beaches are very "normal" for such a colorfoul forest. You're in a magical like place and then it transitions into a random beach in a way it feels connected, that's one of the things that makes WoW a world.
The beach under the floating magical academy thing in northwest Eversong Woods is the first place I ever saw coral in WoW, back when TBC was new. I'm not sure if any of the vanilla zones had coral but at least there weren't any at the level ranges I got to back then. Something about that felt really special for me at the time.
Have you done Top 10 Pointless Remains? A lot of corpses, skeletons and what not in the game doesn't make sense, either by their position or origin. like centaur skin rugs (gruesome by themself) being used in Eastern Kingdoms. And Draenor being littered with skulls that don't fit any creature, because they were based off a rylak design that was scrapped in favor of the chimaera model
There's also a dive bar (probably the most remote) off Beach no. 9. My addition would be the beaches of Drustvar, at the bottom of that massive cliff. No daily quest run was complete without one visit, for turtles or a rare or what have you. For some reason, despite it being a logistical nuisance as non-flying Horde, I never minded heading to a beach in Drustvar. Better than going into the forest, I guess!

Why Stranglethorn is not on this list? It's literally a tropical beach themed zone, especially the south part. Definelly should be at the top 3, but for me is number 1 for sure.

My first beach was on azuremyst island, still one of my favorite zones. My favorite beach from this list was the Zuldazar beach, purely because "Another turtle made it to the water!" 🤣 🐢🐢🐢
Can't believe you didnt mention the beach at the battleground Strand of the Ancients For me that is THE beach I had the most fun in the game, with all the siege engines and cannons on the gates
I like the appreciation of the little things. WoW and Activision-Blizzard have some really terrible problems both in the game and in real life, but so many artistic and story tidbits within deserve this kind of positive recognition.

If a Kalimdor/EK revamp happens, one of my big wishes is for every zone that should have a coastline to get a coastline. There's several weird ones that just inexplicably don't have on despite definitely needing one if the continents were at all realistic. More beaches!!
When the game became no longer fun, I found myself wandering around just marveling at the art and beauty. Think of zones or instances you've been in where you stopped and said, "wow, look at this place!" I hope that the occasional dev will watch these videos and say with pride, "I made that!"

I love Darkshore. Way way back when we started playing with a friend on a server which had almost no people it was the first zone we were trying to complete outside of the starting area and we were failing miserably. The nostalgia is very strong even to this day. Also where is STV?! Edit: thanks for mentioning it at the end.
The waves in Thunder Isle were actually just m2s placed a bit off the shore, they have no connection to the water mechanic wise. They probably stopped using them since, upon closer inspection, they do look rather wonky.
Hey Crendor, were you thinking of making something like top 10 locations added in cata (i dont know if youve ever been to Fuselight-by-the-Sea in Badlands, such a cool settlement)
The beaches of Darkshore (before Blizzard murdered my people and covered the beach in plague ... ) always reminded me of the Pacific Northwest coast. The Oregon Coast especially is pretty famous for it's beauty in the same grey, morose sort of way. It's a primal sort of place that just effects us, regardless of age I think. But I was always a broody little kid so that might say something
