sir the little bass are not insect eggs but fertilizers and oils used to feed plants while growing but u are right tho these can kill because they are chemicalized.
Very nice video again. I also think that mold is secondary food to them and they rather eat things like waste or stuff with no mold on it. I applaud your efforts in this video. Unlike you I am so lazy I keep my springtails in an oversized tub to make sure they don't die to CO2 build up, as I have killed a colony before by throwing too much stuff in there all decomposing at once. The funniest thing is I thought that ~50 springtails would clean it up in a day haha! Like piranhas! Now I know not even 1000 would have fixed my mistake back then.
I am currently waiting on a shipment of springtails to culture them in my living terrariums where I keep my praying mantises. Mantises thrive in extreme humidity, so I plant semi-aquatic and even aquatic species of plants in these terrariums and they do very well. Because of the high moisture, I need a team of springtails and isopods to help keep the terrarium clean :) This video is perfect as I use Peat Moss for top soil in my terrariums
Great! I also use live Peat Moss in my paludarium - the moss does really well in high humidity! I did not know that praying mantises thrive in high humidity - Thank you for sharing the info! That is something I would like to check on a chance of getting praying mantises. All the best on your adventure!
They survive only in damp wet places. They travel great distance and capable to get to your bathroom or kitchen without much trouble. Also, they often found in many apartments/houses. People often have them without ever noticing.
Yes, those are cheerios. I would bake about 1 inch thick layer of peat moss at 175F for about 5 munities. That probably should sterilize it. Though, one needs to try and see to speak from experience for sure.
I fed them. Though, they do much better by feeding on waste of other critters. For that reason I keep them with Grindal worms. I feed Grindal worms and Springtails feed on the waste produced by worms.
FYI those were fertilizer pellets, not insect eggs. MiracleGro adds firtilizer to almost all of their products (the only exception I can think of is their water-storing crystals)
You can buy them online (Amazon for everything), through major stores (Walmart, Costco, Target and etc) or buy food in local restaurants and reuse containers the food is served for to go - that is where I got them.
No. Those are two different things. However, they both work fine for culturing Springtails and Grindal worms. Also, cocopeat should be cleaner and simpler to collect Springtails and Grindal worms from. So, I would go with cocopeat if I had a choice.
Love your videos. They inspired me to get more creative with my fish and bugs at home for years now
That's something I would account for myself as mission accomplished. Thank you very much! You made my day!

Are those Cheerios? And...
How long would you bake the peet moss and at what temperature?
Yes, those are cheerios.

Do I have to feed them? Or they can eat the peat moss?
I fed them. Though, they do much better by feeding on waste of other critters. For that reason I keep them with Grindal worms. I feed Grindal worms and Springtails feed on the waste produced by worms.
@@4me brilliant! I plan on keeping them in my communal praying mantis enclosure!

@@4me Of course. Thank you for your videos, they’ve helped me a lot over the years. I remember when I was one of the only subscribers on your channel

Where do you get those containers?

What kind of cereal do you use?
I prefer Cheerios among all other that I tried so far.
Wow sir
Thank you!

One big difference is that coco peat is less acidic than peat moss
