    just a note for others. I have a 2024 Honda Pilot. It looks like there had been some significant changes to the rear bumper. There's an additional channel now that will block your access to the 2 screws holding the new hitch panel. I managed to remove it, but It's impossible to re-install the them due to tight spaces, even with a 90° flex adapter. You will have to remove the whole bumper per Honda's instructions. It doesn't seem difficult, but tedious. Well, it's Christmas break, so I have time... dealer was charging an extra $300 to install the hitch. I recommend you take a look under the bumper and the instruction sheet before deciding to take the plunge...

    Thanks for the video. Dealer in Syracuse wanted to charge me $1172 for just the hitch without the harness. Bought part for $250 at BK Honda parts and it was easy to install. Took less than an hour.

    Thank you for this. I had the dealership put the hitch on and the rear facia panel but they did not put in the actual harness for me. This helped me so much in putting in the harness. 😍

    Thank you for the vid. How do i do the trailer brake? I don't see any videos. Can u point me in the right direction? I did everything else this morning and followed ur vid step by step. I ended up removing the plastic panels to access harness routing easier. I torqued the 6 bolts to 100ftlbs, same as lug nuts would be.

    Great Video!! I have a 2021 Honda Pilot with the hands-free tailgate and I see that you mentioned you have it too. Were you able to connect that feature back on or you lost the ability to open with your foot? Where did you get the parts? Can you share the part numbers you ordered? Thanks

    Excellent video. I really appreciate the detail you went into. I'm still on the fence whether to add this so I can tow with my 22 Pilot (better tow capacity than my hybrid Maverick) or go with my truck, since that already has a hitch receiver installed. But if I ever need the extra tow rating of the Pilot, I'll rewatch this video a couple times before I plunge in!

    I bought the same hitch as you. Did you have to buy an additional adapter to make the hand's free device fit?

    • @justinfyfe7061
      @justinfyfe7061  2 месяца назад

      @@jasonwigand3112 You can buy the additional adapter or modify your adapter. I believe there are videos on it out there. I haven’t done either so my hands free doesn’t work and we never used it anyway so I haven’t really thought to buy one or modify mine. I guess I should do that one day!

      I recommend that you call the local Honda dealership and ask which part numbers you need for your specific vehicle for the hitch, wiring and hand-free adapter (if equipped) then you can cross reference them with these items to ensure they will fit! Thanks for watching!

    Nicely done. If I heard your numbers correctly, it sounds like you saved $3-400 over having a dealer do the install?
    I have seen $532 for the transmission cooler from Honda. Are there OEM suppliers also?
    Are there engine software tweaks needed for towing?

      Thanks! So when I ordered my parts, the adapter for the hands free sensor was on back order. So I didn’t install it yet. I bagged the connector and tied it out of the way for now. I need to order the adapter and install the hands free sensor. We didn’t use it before so not missing it now but I do want to get it installed again one day. Thanks for watching!

      @@justinfyfe7061Hello running into the same thing. Apparently this part is suffering from the chip shortage so it is in back order. Was also thinking about installing the hitch and removing the HFT sensor. Did you get any warning lights or any issues besides the obvious of not being able to use that feature? Do you have a pic of what you did to secure the electrical connector that plugs up to the sensor/bracket you removed? Thanks. Great video!

      @@davidiniguezjr214 I just bagged the connector and taped the opening then zip tied it to the wire harness so it would be out of the way. No warnings or lights or anything like that. I will try to get a picture of it. Thanks!

      You can modify the original to make it work. The sensor is just an rca cable. Cut it to length and add some heat shrink or tape to the end. The bracket has a line you can cut on I just did mine. Works perfect.

    When pulling down the harness did you have to cut the electrical tape that is holding it up?

    • @Skysthelimit93
      @Skysthelimit93 Год назад

      For those installing this.. you have to grab it at the electrical tape of the wire and pull it down. It will come apart. Also when installing the wires before you connect it go through the bottom area where the jack is then connect it. Makes the job way easier.

    • @Skysthelimit93
      @Skysthelimit93 Год назад +1

      Also if you guys want to save 100$ for the adapter to the hand free tailgate. I cut the plate that held the sensors to fit the new assembly (with a Dremel). Then I cut both sensors shorter with a wire cutter. I then went to local hardware store and bought thread protectors to cap off the sensors I cut , then used electrical tape to hold the thread protectors on tight. Still works like a charm. And yes you will only have sensors on the passenger side just like the adapter. Just trying to help
