I am a high school teacher and use this series for life skills. My students respond so well to it. In 1987 Degrassi was cutting edge and continues to be timeless. Mr Raditch was one of the reasons I became a teacher
It's too bad Neil Hope isn't around. He was my most relate-able character. Totally got screwed over by the events in his life that he had no control over. So much anger, so much frustration.
I am from Minnesota in the United States and I grew up watching that show I absolutely love it and I am 41 years old now and I still watch it on RUclips, I love it
Same for me! I am 41 too and I used to watch it on TV at the time, after school. I would never miss an episode. I had a big crush on Joey and Caitlyn's beauty fascinated me (and still does) . I'm French and this TV show sure had lots of success here too.
Same for me. I'm from Peru. I was in my teens and also grew up watching Degrassi Junior High all of the seasons, and now I'm still watching it these days on RUclips. I still relate to this cast and all the topics they deal with in the show. I so feel part of it, maybe more now than it used to be since being 40, we've definitely got a broader insight of life. Nostalgic and amazing!
Hi, Joey still sounds the same. He should have worn the Hat!:) I loved how realistic the show was, the school looked just like my own school. I am pleased to hear"Mr. Raditch" is still alive!:) Have fun at Con Con! Thanks.
What a show.... its weird, because I looked exactly like Wheels as a teenager and quite by coincidence , I also played bass. You can imagine how i felt when I learned about his passing.... I wish I'd known that this event was happening... I would have come down for sure just to connect, if only for a brief moment.
Pat Mastroianni's character, Joey Jeremiah, along with is outgoing positive attitude in spite adversity personality, was a reason I watched Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High every week when I was a teenager. The series' ability to deal with real world teen issues late born Generation X teenagers faced made Degrassi a huge success.
Presented it to my kids now 2023 A couple of days ago we finished watching all seasons Degrassi JH and High told them this is what I was watching back as a kid in NY besides the WWF so now we jumped in The next generation my kids loving it
I'm 60 years old and I still love Degrassi!!! I started watching when they were the kids on degrassi street!! been watching ever since. I turned my kids on and they watch it all. they love it too!
there are people who dont know what Degrassi Jr High is 😱 lol. I'm in Tasmania Australia and I grew up watching this show. and today my son watches degrassi the new class. spike was always my favorite
Love love loved Degrassi.. im 44 now and grew up watching in Australia 🇦🇺 . I have also bought all the dvds and my daughter grew up watching this and the newer version.. still love to this day.. was so sad to hear of the Passing of Neil Hope (Wheels ) .. his demons caught up with him .. RIP
The fact that most of the people here are people who grew up with the show 🥺 I was literally born when degrassi next gen was airing and only found about degrassi last year.. sooo glad that I did! I binged every single episode of all 4 shows! What a masterpiece!
To think the Degrassi cast went through this quite literally, no wonder Neil didn't like the song. I'm sure he wasn't the only one. They took everything from these kids, including their childhoods. They were paid next to penies. A big reason why Neil spiraled into the depression he did, even though his past or parents didnt help. A big reason why Snake stuck with the franchise was so he could continue making money with the only thing he really knew.... imagine being thrown in the real world after being a child actor. There was no laws or union back then. It's so wild to think about different such different dynamics of life than the average person.
I got to meet Pat, Stacey, Stefan (Snake), Kirsten (Tessa) and Dan Woods (Mr Raditch) at this very Con. I have a pic of Snake hitting Joey in the head with my Lucille prop!
Really wish I could of made it to this Im 29 now and grew up watching it and loved it and going back and rewatching it I remembered every scene almost ! God bless!
What is weird, is we’re here in the USA, watching the episodes on RUclips, and most of us didn’t get to see past the jr high show, back in the day, it wasn’t carried. so the lost episodes have been playing for about 6 months in our home and will probably play for the next year. It’s like a prime time show for us, and my son, who’s 15 and really looks like Joey Jeremiah, and went as him for Halloween this year. It’s odd what the internet has done to tv. Many of the shows produced now aren’t nearly as good, well written, and especially family friendly as shows produced long ago, or even in other nations, like Canada. And the internet now allows us to treat shows like they’re books, and only read the ones worth reading. And Degrassi is wonderfully written and acted, and definitely worth reading. And Comicon is a great place to showcase the stars of it, who are more popular in some places now than they’ve ever been, like our house. Here’s to hoping they do comicon in the US soon. We’d go see em.
Would ❤ to see the whole cast...well....those that are alive anyway. It's nice watching from the USA .FTR... I'm Canadian born. I TRULY miss being able to watch Degrassi. I'll have to the buy the first few seasons via Amazon.
I knew two of the kids. Michael Carry went to my junior high school (Deer Park) and he played Simon and Rebecca Haines lived in my building and we were around the same age as early teens and she played Maureen on the show. They were normal kids, not some Hollywood caricatures.
There was major a difference between Degrassi and those Hollywood sitcoms. Most Hollywood sitcoms, a character was a problem. Then before the episode is over, his/her problem is solved and everybody is happy. Next episode, another character has a problem. Before the episode, the problem is solved and everybody is happy. On Degrassi, the problems were not solved. The characters on Degrassi had to live with the problems and deal with them. That was way more realistic than those silly Hollywood sitcoms. Life is cruel to most people. People have to learn to live with life's disappointments.
I loved this show back in 80 most of those characters are around same age as i am today i still watch Degrassi high today all past shows gotta say joey was my fav and wheels too schools out awsome ending to great show
It was very popular in Sweden and they showed it for an English learning training childrens TV. I was 12 when it first came out and I've re watched it recently, now when I'm 46
I was around 7 years old back in 86 when this show first aired and from Louisville KY and this show was one of my favourites for its first 3 seasons with my favourite characters being Joey, Snake, Spike, Liz & the twin girls Erica & Heather it was the only show I have ever seen where the kids faced real issues with about everything under the sun but made it pretty believable by the circumstances in which they introduced these issues with like Dwayne getting HIV & Spike getting pregnant & stuff like that & for the issues it adressed & the penalty for their decisions is why I still find it probably the best show ever for children growing up to watch as looking back it was a great show but I quit watching after the Degrassi High seasons ended as that was the cast I grew up with and was not interested in a new cast for any future spinoffs
Such a fantastic series. I've got the DJH and DH DVD's. It would be awesome if there was a reunion with the popular characters and the characters that don't get mentioned as much. Sending well wishes from Australia.
Even with DJH, (most of) the cast was around since the late 70s on a now prequel show called "Kids of Degrassi Street" all the way back from kindergarten/grade 1. I remember Stacie was in it, but she was playing another character, not Caitlyn. I think Pat was too, but its been too long to remember exactly. Spike, Snake, and Wheels were i think.
I’m new to Degrassi and I love Stacie as Caitlin, Stacie is so freaking beautiful my goodness! You don’t see natural beauty like hers or Amanda Stepto anymore!

I have to laugh at everyone saying Caitlin said the first "F' bomb, when Snake had said it seconds beforehand, yet no one mentions it.
No Neck Needed no neck Ed kills me💀
I think you are wrong. Those of us old enough remember it was Snake who was the first to say this
Because nobody wanted to see Snake break his geeky, straight laced persona.

why is her voice really different?
Jennifer Robinson She got old:
Because she's not 13 anymore.

It's her teeth. She has the from ones capped so it changes her speech
Gehrig Harris Her voice just sounds a little strained, like she has been talking a lot. Which is highly likely considering they’re doing this event.
