  • Plunging the Google Pixel 8 Pro underwater for 30 minutes to test its water resistance capacity. A lot of bubbles were forming while the devices was submerged under water for the first minutes and it kept creating more air bubbles during the whole test.

    My Pixel 8 was in the water for about 8 minutes playing songs underwater (about 20cm deep) and after I took my phone out I realized I had water in my camera (damaging from the inside) and my phone got hot and it was booting up and down all the time and now doesn't work anymore. It's about 1 month old and I have a phone case and a screen protector and it's never hit anywhere hard or anything. What can I do because google says the warranty is not for water damage but if it's a production error by google they have to cover it right?

      My Pixel 8 Pro, in near perfect condition, was does in water today for less than 10 seconds. It immediately shut down, would boot approx 6-8 hours later but immediately shut down after powering on, now approx 12-14 hours later it appears to be a glorified paper weight. Highly disappointed and without a phone at the worst possible time. 😢

    I accidentally dropped my Pixel 7 earlier in a tub of water for abut 3 seconds, I immediately turned it off. And now the screen is all green and the touchscreen has it's mind of its own.

    Can you do Google Pixel 9 Pro water test on pool or chlorinated water, and saltwater?
    Or does water resistant only work on freshwater?

      lol I will need to find the money to buy it first then think about what I can do 🤣

    Pixel 8 pro is advertised as IP68 rated which means it is water resistant at the point of sale. Once out of the box it is not guaranteed. I had to learn the hard way, the phone did not even survive partial submersion for a short amount of time. Don't mix water and phones at all without the right protection.
    My phone took 10 days to come back alive fully. Switched on after 6 days, cameras started to work after 10 days. Will likely to swap or sell in a couple of months to avoid running into corrosion issues.
    The moral of the story that IP68 rating and water resistant means waterproof for the average Joe, but in real terms it means F all. There is no warranty for liquid damage. So don't be fooled by it.
    IP68 is no more that a shiny marketing phrase to make you pay extra $$$ for a dream, it makes you believe that you are making a good investment. In real terms though, it means nothing, no value comes with it.
    A good case and avoiding water is your best chance.

    If you are going through all the trouble of doing the test please just do it properly, stop touching the phone, doing so resulting in you getting rid of the timer which means you had to take it out of the water. That is a bit frustrating. It would be appreciated if you simply just left it alone in the water

    • @ersrev
      @ersrev  9 месяцев назад +5

      That's one way of thinking about it but in mimicking real life no one just put the phone in water and wait. The phone must be moving under water. Other phones did not have chronometer off (it's due to the sensitivity of the Pixel screen). Also just leaving it in water you might like that but am not really sure most people would find it interesting.

      @@ersrev I mentioned that because to a skeptical person in the world of fakes it appears like you are cheating the test, your hand is touching the screen whilst the back of the phone is facing the camera (yes I am aware of the sensitivity issues).
      Thank you though for doing the test

      As an everday user 6 month later.....it's not waterproof, this some crappy water proof quality. I took it in the shower last night just once and now the bottom speaker is dull and I can still blow water from it...its bull

      I can see that. I fell in the pool and had mine in my pocket so there was a lot of movement. But some people just drop it in the water or overboard and it just sits on the bottom until they can get in and grab it. So both scenarios are possible. My phone was fine after that. @@ersrev

    Does the main camera has hole(for micro phone). Does water test effect the camera?

    • @ersrev
      @ersrev  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. There's a hole for the microphone. It doesn't look to take any water from that hole. The water test did not affect the Pixel 8 Pro. Everything was alright thereafter.
