    Thank you 🙏🏻! Thank you 🙏🏻! Thank you 🙏🏻!
    I’m very thankful for the fact that you accepted my suggestion, I’m happy that you liked it and I’m very grateful for the mention of my art and myself.
    I’ve stitched along, I’ve already have two blocks, but I’m going to make two more. I’m making a small quilt with my mother’s old cloths. I didn’t get to keep many things from her (for several reasons), so I only have some bedsheets, an old dress, a handkerchief, two cloth bags to keep the bread in (my grandmother used them a lot) and some samples of cloth from when she worked (in her 20s) in a cloth shop. The cloths are mostly a bit blah, not pretty at all, but I decided I would only use those cloths to make the quilt as a tribute to her.
    These blocks are going to be a part of that quilt, because you know I like to do odd, uneven and messy things, they make me happy. But before I stitched them to the quilt (that’s still maybe half the size I want), I’ll post them on the facebook group.
    I’m now making my other two blocks and then I’m embellishing them with my fancy stitching so the cloths look prettier.
    Again, many, many thanks, I sincerely appreciate this, specially now 💙❤️🤎🩷💚💜💛🧡🩵🩶♥️

I was more than happy to see your original sampler as it was how mine has sometimes ended up, a bit wonky…. Also if you felt it wasn’t you, then you could do exactly what you needed to do and change it. My wheel didn’t turn out as well as I’d hoped and I was a bit disappointed, but I have learnt from it, which for me is a big part of taking part in your wonderful channel. I applaud you for all the ways that "you do you". I think you get to choose how and what you add to your journals.
      Thanks for your good company and interesting creative activities! Btw, you could put the piece you weren't satisfied with in the journal, too.
      I've been through some of that with art journals when, after pages of pleasing artwork, I make one or more that grate on my artistic judgment... really tempting to remove them as if they never existed.
      I had a dog once that would run ahead on hiking trails and eat horse or other droppings before I caught up with him.
      He was sooo pleased with himself!!! Thankfully, most of our walks didn't offer exotic poo varieties that tempted him.
      Hugs and best wishes to you, Frdfred, & Stella.

    Hi Kathryn! I love your videos and agree with the others about you being so real and honest. We appreciate you so much! I don't usually comment since I watch you on my television. But...when you talked about how you reflected on why you felt as you did about the embroidery video that you made, it made me reflect on why I didn't participate in the blindfolded exercise. I got quite emotional when I started thinking about it and suddenly realized that the thought of blindness frightened me. My mother became blind as a result of macular degeneration, which runs in her family. The reality of possibly becoming blind in the future has been in the back of my mind for years and I don't really deal with things that upset me very well and therefore, I just don't think about it! I don't think that's a particularly healthy thing. I thank you for setting such a good example in so many ways. The world is a better place because you are in it and share your thoughts and practices with us fortunate viewers of your channel! Keep being you!

      I am so sorry you have that fear, I have something similar about my hands as both my grandmother and mother had and have bad arthritis in theirs. My Granny had to give up knitting (which she loved) and my mother can no longer knit either (she was never a hand stitcher really). My hands are fine at the moment but the thought of one day not being able to stitch is quite hard to think about. I guess I have to appreciate and enjoy it while I can. And when I can't, I will have to find another way to be creative. Hugs to you ❤️

    Don’t worry about it. Just keep on going. I haven’t done that exercise yet but I still feel myself not liking how this is or that went here and there. I have pulled things apart or put it down and picked it back up the next day and all has gone better. It’s the same for baking . Some days I can’t bake worth a crap. Everything I try goes to crap. Same when painting. It’s not going well, it’s not flowing smoothly , so I just clean my brushes and put paint and mediums away and wait till the next day. We all have our moments or days when things just aren’t flowing and everything just seems to fall apart or not go well at all.

    Kathryn you absolutely have nothing to be sorry about. I love how you push yourself and us out of our comfort zone at times and - certainly for me - make me consider my handwork in ways that never have occurred to me, such as sewing blind and what that’s like. Also how that affects me moving forward into subsequent pieces of work.
    To me this is good for me. It broadens my thinking and you didn’t twist my arm to do it! I chose to do it, to see what it was like and how I’d think about it later. I LOVE that about your teaching.
    Each one of us has the choice to join in or not. You mustn’t feel you owe any of us anything with what you present each week. We are so lucky to have you here working hard a number of times a week on our behalf .

    Oh Kathryn with not liking the piece you came up with on monday yourself and your decision to make another one for your journal you made me just happy and gave me a good feeling! I always wanted my projects to be perfect and ended up supersophisticating them which made the creating process kind of stressful and less enjoyable. When I came upon your slow stitching monday project some weeks ago, it immediately hit me that I want to follow you and I started a journal titled „embrace the process“. And I‘m doing better by now, but there are still many moments when I struggle and go back into my old habit of overthinking my pieces - so, thank you for letting me witness that even you have such moments!!!!! Don’t feel hypocritical about not wanting to put something you created in your journal. Sometimes life is like that. But I still stand by my last comment that you should stack all of the pieces together- the one you were fond of, along with the fixed version and other practice versions. Because now the entire process is the memory of that week- and I think that is a lovely thing to put into the journal. But ultimately, it’s your journal and you get to decide 😀

    Thank you. This block looks like a lovely variation on string quilting. My take, for what it is worth, on the Kantha Embroidery stitches, week 45, is that sometimes not being pleased by the outcome of a piece or part of a piece is part of the process. But as always, you do you. I didn't feel let down in the least bit. In fact I felt validated. I don't redo things to death or for perfection but I do like to feel as if I'm honoring my making by taking my time to craft and create. If you enjoyed making the second piece and feel better about it than that's ok.

    Happy 2-month New Home Anniversary Kathryn! And such a lovely home it is. Regarding the no sight project...I couldn't bring myself to do it as my Mom is currently going totally blind. It was too rare of an emotion for me to participate in and I have low vision myself...so I suppose since that might be my future, I am fully aware of my deficits. Every project I can get completed is a "little happy dance celebration", but I don't take anything for granted. Such a project can really get embedded in your mind and you need a little "reset" after the trauma of it. Soothe your soul and be gentle with yourself! 🌲🤗lj

    You have to be a bit of a perfectionist to be able to create all the beautiful work you do (past and present)! And we all get to enjoy that through all the videos you make, even when times are rough. You can’t do that without at least a tiny little bit of it. So thank you for being a little bit of a perfectionist and be kind to yourself as you are to others. Stella probably looks with much love at her dinner so that is also wonderful (the eye of the beholder etc. I mean, who of us like to roll around in fox poo???) Good early morning! Not usually up this early so thought I’d watch wonky Wednesday to smooth me. I’m not sure how I felt after the blindfold piece. I anticipate my pieces are never the greatest anyways so just go with it 😂. But I felt “something” different. I tried to vary my kantha a stitch piece so it “visually” looked like a project as I had done a sampler of straight lines before and hadn’t liked it. I’m not sure where I’m going with this and just wittering as you would say. But I found this past week my wanting to just do simpler stitches again but making it look somewhat interesting. Came across a couple “stitch meditation vs slow stitch” videos and what the people thought that meant. They seemed quieter and simpler than the stitch meditation scrolls even (which I adore the scrolls btw). A couple others said stitch meditation may just be a few pieces of random cloth with running stitches and several pieces were just a whole piece of cloth with random running stitches. The suggestion was made to do “stitch meditation” in a quiet silent time or at most listening to calm classical/instrumental music with no words…that it works more of the right side of the brain. Whereas slow stitch is relaxing and helps stress but with other things going on it makes the left side of the brain kick in. So I have been wondering maybe you could do a silent stitch meditation and see what happens. 😂 can you imagine trying to do a video where there is no sound and then we just kinda follow along and then we do in silence or you have pretty background music? Not sure how this all came up but maybe bc your mention of being stressed with the kantha sampler and my wondering if stitch meditation and quiet conjured up some wittering 😂. Disjointed thoughts bc it’s way too early for me I suppose. Anyhoo…when I wake up I’m gonna attempt some eco dying and then use that piece to try to use as a stitch meditation cloth. That may take a couple days so will do your awesome string quilt until that happens.

      Thank you, it's an interesting thought, me not talking for an hour or so 😂 I don't think a lot of people would like music, many have said they like my channel because there's no music. Interesting that others make a distinction between stitch meditation and slowstitch, to me they are inextricably linked. I can certainly invite people to stitch in silence or with gentle music though, that is often how I work myself. ❤️

    I don't know. I think the frustration over the making of the video caused your former self (the traditional quilter) to come out, and she reacted to the piece. Sometimes we tend to think too much over something making it worse than it really is. I tend to like things to be as nice as they can be, but I won't go out of my way to make it so. Suemayo said it well, you do you. I will add, don't sweat the small stuff. I can only speak for myself when I say...neat, or messy, anything you do is fine with me. 😉

    I would love to have a video about “travel kit” … I’m on a vacation, found myself very frustrated not having what I “needed” when I started stitching. What do you take with you when you travel … taking squares of pre prepared small pieces of cloth was something I hadn’t even thought about

      A few months ago, the theme was Desert Island Stitching which kind of addressed that a little bit. If I travel, I usually take my sewing pouch with needles, threads and scissors and a small piece if I have something on the go (I usually do) or a stitch meditation scroll (there's a video about those) to work on. ❤️

    I love this and would love to try - i enjoyed the greek key and the bento so much, this looks just as fun! Is this what you were doing with the one that was partially hung on on the wall and partially laid out somewhere to work on? Where the dark and light were meandering? Or was that pieced like a traditional log cabin? I really have to figure something out for when knitting isn't possible because I've lost my beading passion again. I must admit I was very surprised that you did discard your sample piece and did another - may be it was feeding into something to do with your new situation maybe a feeling of not being good enough and doubting yourself, rather than your usual attitude of it’s only a sample, a try,- it was a blip and shows us your human - I identify with wonky Wednesday the most, but love trying the more technical on a Monday. Oh, I forgot, as to the Monday’s video, I did notice you were a bit nervous, but I wouldn’t worry about it nor think too much of it, because it’s more than natural that you’d be a bit nervous teaching new stitches that you yourself don’t use that often. Of course, if you have a RUclips channel, you want to do things properly so viewers can understand it, so it’s natural that in that case you want to be a perfectionist. I’m the least perfectionist person in the world, but if I had a channel and I were teaching what you teach, I would want to be a perfectionist too so that people would learn things 😊😊😊💙♥️🧡💚💛🩷💜🩵🤎❤️🩶

    Unless you are engaging in slow stitching solely for a type of meditation process or such, I think it unrealistic to believe that we shouldn't take into consideration the end product as well as the process. For those of us that stitch beyond just samples and are creating something, whether it be an art wall hanging, a quilt, a bag, whatever, how can we not consider the end result? For me, the process of stitching informs the way the piece is made and defines what it is, but if it ends up not being pleasing to the eye, I see nothing wrong with correcting it. The emphasis was the process. The product remains important, but only to the extent that it is informed by the process. This is challenging to put into words!

    I’m not sure if it was you, but someone recently has mentioned that there is a “belief” that slow stitching can be messy and not to bother about stitch size or what thread or what fabric; just throw stuff down and be joyous. I don’t think that’s right. I understand letting go of the cruelty of perfection is important, but I also think being pleased by and with one’s work is more important. So if your Monday work didn’t please you, be free to redo it til it does. Nothing hypocritical or devious about that.

    Mostly because I live knowing several names to search with, my A-Z Embroidery Stitches book shows the mala stitch as Spanish knotted feather stitch. Looks more like a chain stitch variation to me but it gave me a no power needed visual. Letting people know that not everything goes as you want is a good thing. Showing people it's okay to be dissatisfied with a thing and change it. This got too long, sorry.

    I'm kind of new to your channel, so I'm not sure what's happening with Stella and the fox poo. But I gather that she likes to wear it. I read somewhere that dogs will roll in a stinky mess to camouflage their own scent. So, it could be that she doesn't like the particular scent of the shampoo that you use. Try a shampoo that is unscented.

    • @k3n.clothtales
      @k3n.clothtales  18 дней назад +1

      Yes she rolls in it. She has a special shampoo from the vet as she has allergies and it's unscented, I have been using it for years and she has only recently started this fox poo obsession. Thank you though for the advice and also welcome 🤗

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 18 дней назад +1

      @k3n.clothtales , didn't you say that 2 months ago she didn't live where there were fox? That alone explains the "recent obsession". But you also mentioned that she has a lot of new friends... Maybe they smell like shampoo and that's where she's gotten the idea that she needs a smell.
      It could be that she wants a smell... Instead of smelling like unscented shampoo. Since she has sensitive skin, I'd try something soothing and natural that I have to hand, like a dab of coconut oil or even essential oils mixed with a base of coconut or even olive oil. I'd keep it totally non-toxic as she's likely to lick it or transfer a minute bit to you and your environment through her contact. But ask her which "moisturizer" she'd like. I'm sure you'll find one she likes better than fox poo.
      Because you mentioned tomato baths, you might have to choose a strong smell for her new "moisturizer". But you never know, she just might want to smell pretty like you! 💕🌞🌵😷

    • @k3n.clothtales
      @k3n.clothtales  18 дней назад +1

      There were lots of foxes in our woods in France, perhaps she just likes the smell of the English ones better. 😂 But you make a good point about the other dogs, perhaps it is something to do with the fact that there are lots of other dogs around that she wants to maybe mask her own smell. Interesting. ❤️

  • @juliaogara8794
    @juliaogara8794 14 дней назад

    Is she feeling insecure having moving environment? Fox poop being really smelly, is she trying to leave a stronger scent for others to find.
    My dog is submissive and is a bugger for rolling in it, always has when out with the husband. Doesn’t do it with the rest of us because we keep her insight. He doesn’t. Doesn’t keep her on the lead either when he should. Huge bone of contention but then he thinks we should all toe his line. We don’t.
