Lyrics:
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose
Nothing, I mean nothing, honey if it isn't free, no no
Yeah feeling good was easy Lord, when he sang the blues
You know feeling good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee

The line " I'd trade all my tomorrow's for one single yesterday " it is brilliant
One of the best lyrics ever
Horrible song 🙄🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮🥴👿👹👺🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💩
BAD SONG 🥴👿👿🙄🤢🤮🤢
I'd trade all my yesterday's for one more tomorrow.
Everything in Janis Joplin songs are beautiful ❤️😍.
I wonder why people couldn't understand that those times.
*'Mercedes Benz'* is genial!
Listen to it and you'll realize the creativity in the lyrics. 😊
Kris Kristofferson, what a song writer! Every word in this song creates a beautiful poem of youth and love.
❤
R.I.P JANIS💖💖🙏🙏💝💝 YOU WILL NEVER BE REPLACED OR FORGOTTEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree whole heartily ❤❤
Club 27 is a bitch.
No one brought that song to life the way Janis Joplin did, not even Kris Kristofferson. Brings tears just to hear it. RIP.
Sittin'' ere with tears bud.
That woman still gives me goosebumps every time I hear her sing. There will never be another Janis
Too bad more people didn't appreciate her, like her hometown ignored her during her high school reunion. Sad
Never!
Never!
amen
With that wonderfully dynamic base line right behind her, it just sends the song into orbit. No one like Janis.
This is my favorite Janis Joplin song
Magnificent rendition of a magnificent song. I'm 79 and this still moves me as it did the first time I heard it.
One of the coolest 79 year olds I've ever seen!!!!
Ahmed Khan...same with me and I'm 80. I don't know why I connected with her so much. Our lives were nothing alike but I had a soft spot for her, especially after I read the book about her life.
@@Judyp77 Listened to this song infinite times going down the road with my dad. He's not far off in age from youse twos. I cry unabashedly (by myself =P) for the love and life in this song. I sit and wonder what his own connection and feelings are on this ballad. He is so guarded. I don't know how I would ask.
@@SteelValyrian...you just need to ask him. You may not get another chance. You may be surprised at his answer. He'll probably be pleased that you asked.
I lost my 74 year old brother 2 weeks ago. He had lived with me for about 12 years. So unexpected. I've thought of many things I should have asked him....wish I had ...😢
I hear that I will be 58 on March 03
I want to live in an alternate reality in which Janis is still alive and singing so beautifully.
Me too she was so brilliant
Love you, Ms. Joplin!!
She said " FREEDOM IS JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR NOTHIN LEFT TO LOSE!" lort have mercy take it in.
Hello Juliet..
Coucou Juliet...
Amen!!
Hello
Her voice, by itself, provokes nostalgia, but when that same voice says "I'll trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday", only tears; only god darn tears...
I don't know if she wrote this or not, but that is one perfect line for the ages.
@@deanstuder1775 She didn't write it (Kris Kristofferson did); but she owned it heart and soul! I miss her madly; some wonder why; because she screamed why life hurt...
She is and always rank among the all time best songstress of all time! Her purity , translation of raw emotions and raucous delivery were some of the best performances of that era!😊
"I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday" Wow that's a beautiful line
Why not the other way round?
@@durjoyjtbdoBecause we don't know tomorrow. We'd rather have what we know and the real love that is lost. For the record, I wouldn't trade my tomorrows, but I'd like to think I haven't had my best yesterday yet. Many don't think this way it seems ; _ ;
Never lose your Bobby McGee, but don't try to find them either.
@@SteelValyrianI won't, buddy. I always look for new and upcoming ones, but I rarely get much. Perhaps sedimentation takes time. You are welcome to recommend. I'll be obliged to try.

Sorry just thought I'd be clever. But honest I got to this song (listening again after a loooong time) relatively organically in my night. Hope you like it. Honest though she already sounded like raging fire consuming itself very early in her "career."
😅😅😅😅😅😅
My daughter has loved Janis since she was 5. At 7 she begged to go to a Janis Joplin concert. I had to break the news she had died even before I was born. She was inconsolable for a couple hours. Now at 22, she is a free spirit like Janis was, and can do a perfect Rendition of almost all Janis’s songs.
R Depagter How fantastic - good for her.... !! 😆💜

Happy Birthday Janis Joplin
Born 19 January 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas, USA
You died far too young. 27 years old
we miss you. R.I.P
Janis was a class act who left far too early.
At the peak of her very brief reign, she was unbeatable. She could sing with immense
power ("Raise Your Hands"), or incredible vulnerability("Little Girl Blue").
Five decades after her premature death, Janis still remains loved.
I love Janis Joplin, people say that I'm much like her,but I am not, I just love her heaps
People think of her belting out power blues songs like Try and Piece of my Heart and she was great at that but she could sing ballads beautifully.
Class act?
Hmmm....
Great singer... absolutely!
@@angusm9419 I guess the point could be debated either way, but I know where you're coming from; Janis Joplin hailed from an era whose youth questioned or rebelled against authority / "the establishment," and with all the trimmings (drug abuse, sex, etc.); It's a great loss to the world that her life was so short because, sadly, she couldn't control her habits. And I have yet to see or hear a modern pop / rock diva who can hold a candle to Ms Joplin and her raw and immense talent.
@@vincentsartain3061 All of those are true.
I still question the use of the term, "class act."
Am I the only guy who tears up every time he hears her voice? Seriously, EVERY TIME - still... after 50 years
I think she was finding her own voice. I prefer this folkie singing style to the earlier histrionics. To me, that was more showing off her pipes than really feeling into the song authentically. This is more understated but also more effective.
You're not alone...me too...after 35 years and forever!!
Not tears, but feel some movement in the nether regions.
Nope... I feel it
Me too david
I think I was in the 6th grade when I first heard this song but it wasn’t JJ singing it, it was my older brother. We lived in foster homes and he played this all the time. He disappeared just 3 years later and hasn’t been seen since, that was in 1976. Jay we are still here.
I know nothing about playing music but I think it must be an easier tune to play because my brother, like yours, played this tune when he was young too. Good memories.
I wish Janis knew how beloved she was, unfortunately accolades from strangers rarely means anything, unconditional love from a parent does.. I think this alluded her, she was just way to special to stay on this Earth...... I pray on the long cosmic silver thread you found the peace and love we all deserve...
Amen

It is the feeling of the 60ties. God we were blessed to have been young at that time....
Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train
When I's feelin' near as faded as my jeans
Bobby thumbed a diesel down just before it rained
And rode us all the way into New Orleans
I pulled my harpoon out of my dirty red bandana
I's playin' soft while Bobby sang the blues
Windshield wipers slappin' time
I's holdin' Bobby's hand in mine
We sang every song that driver knew
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin', it ain't nothin' honey, if it ain't free
And feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues
You know feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee
From the Kentucky coal mines to the California sun
Yeah, Bobby shared the secrets of my soul
Through all kinds of weather, through everything we done
Yeah, Bobby baby kept me from the cold
One day up near Salinas, Lord, I let him slip away
He's lookin' for that home and I hope he finds it
Well, I'd trade all my tomorrows for one single yesterday
To be holdin' Bobby's body next to mine
Freedom's just another word for nothin' left to lose
Nothin', and that's all that Bobby left me
Well, feelin' good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues
And feelin' good was good enough for me
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee, yeah
Hey now Bobby now now Bobby McGee yeah
Lo lo lo lolo lo lo laa, lololo lo lolo lo lolo lo lolo lo la laa
Hey now Bobby now now Bobby McGee yeah
Lord, I called him my lover, I called him my man
I said I called him my lover, did the best I can
C'mon, hey now Bobby now, hey now Bobby McGee, yeah
Lo lo Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, a Lord, oh
Hey, hey, hey, Bobby McGee, Lord
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide the lyrics to Bobby McGee. I used to have a pretty nice soprano voice, but now -- at 64 -- it's more of a husky alto.
I love to sing, but I'm a shy perfectionist. I go to a karaoke place regularly with a group of young friends (in their 20s) who always encourage me to sing, but I've never been brave enough.
I decided that this song will be my "debut" performance, but I need to practice at home before I dare go on stage.
Sorry for the long explanation, but I wanted you to know that posting lyrics to a song can have benefits most people don't think of.
Thank you from the bottom of my excited/nervous heart. You've made an important contribution to my happiness.❤

All these years later and my heart still breaks when I hear her soulful voice...
There will never be another Janis Joplin it''s great that we still have her tones - We miss you Janis.
Amy Winehouse. Similar talent & ending.
Two others I could think of that could push out that kind of pure unadultered energetic emotion:
Tom Petty and Meatloaf. Slash and Jimmy Hendricks does (did in the case of Jimmy Hendricks) it on the guitar. Also, can't forget about Freddie Mercury!
She and Yoko Ono on the same level.
Absolutely my wife's favorite song and since her recent passing due to cancer, this song will play everyday in our house going forward, as bittersweet as it'll be. At her celebration of life tribute the DJ was instructed to play this song every 15 minutes, and all 300 of us smiled and cried, and sang as loud as we could.

The most beautiful people Janis Joplin it's truly one of the most beautiful people I have ever had the privilege of listening to to me she is the epitome of strength and freedom her music is timeless and I will never get tired of listening to it I used to sing this song to my daughter when she was a baby back in the early 80s we would sit out in the field of daisies I would play my guitar and sing Janis Joplin to her it always put her to sleep and to this day and she is having a rough time even though she is in her thirties now she still calls me to have me seen Me and Bobby McGee by Janis
Janis passed way before I had a chance to really appreciate her music, but here I am now loving every minute of it.
I was listening Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendriks as I was young. I find them still be now, join me when living gets harsh.
That Pearl cover was hanging on my bedroom wall throughout my youth, as a precious Mona Lisa, down here in remote Brazil. That's how far and deep she reached. Eternal love.

For excample, I love LP, Gilda, Jeanne Mas, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, Amy Macdonald, Lauren Ruth Ward, Amy Winehous, Lana Del Rey, Loner Deer and many others, but my most favorite is LP and Gilda, for me they are the most special, the most soulful, heart-piercing singers of all time, I just adore them, they are the most precious, the most dear, the most close to me. I can remember the first time I heard this song. I was 13 or 14 driving down the road in my parents jeep that was older then I was. I grew up on a farm, so we all drove that early. Anyway, that jeep only had an AM radio. I heard that voice and within in first sentence of this song, I had to pull over to take this song and her voice in. I. Was. Hooked!
I got home and asked my mom what this song was. This was before RUclips or any way to look up information on her. But when I could, I was heartbroken to find out she died 6 years before I was born.
In my opinion, she is still the reigning queen of rock!
Love it!! Janis was 🔥
I was born in 67 and Im so grateful to have been here during the 7os. My mom and I sang and danced to all her albums, among many other awesome artists. She would hold Janis's album in 1 hand and dust with the other, every Saturday. Love those memories of us 3!!
My mother is 78 and this as her favourite song .She sang it fantastically.
As a songwriter, I know a song is just a song until just the right soul straps it on, and then it becomes wings.
Yep and no one has ever matched Janis' performance of this song. "I'll trade all my tomorrows, for one single yesterday." Her delivery of that line is a literal WOW moment. She brought the soul right into that song and she is the only reason it is popular. I like to write my own tunes every so often, however my writing leans more towards the hard rock side of things.
Another good writer that was amazing was Ronnie Van Zant. Dude could write the hell out of a sing. His lyrics to Free Bird were literally written in 3 to 5 minutes according to his band mates. Only the first line is the only part he didn't write because that line was a question that Allen Collins girlfriend asked him and he wrote the music for it. Ronnie left it in there and then wrote the rest around it, he almost never wrote it, believing there were too many chords to carry a melody in tune.
Hell of a lot of good writers out there and no they do not get the credit for doing it. I am sure you know its not an easy task, but it is rewarding when the song you write flows together like every note was meant just for the words.
@@evilcowboy , you are saying a lot, brother. And this tells me you've been down the valley and over the hills of really looking at songwriting as the art form that it is. That line from Free Bird [If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me...] is so reminiscent of the overall message hidden in John Denver's lyrics to Goodbye Again. When you have time, study those lyrics and see if you can discern that certain bittersweetness that echoes in Free Bird. The lyrics to Goodbye Again are actually a very beautiful example of high-level lyric writing. I wish John recorded this particular song in a slower (less upbeat) tempo. When it is slowed down, it becomes a powerful voice/guitar coffeehouse offering. Stay well, ec.
