  • Craig Beals shows how to use chemical reactions between metals and acids to make Naked Pennies and Hollow Pennies. These chemistry experiments are a good example of how the activity series works by highlighting how some elements are able to replace other elements in a compound because of their position on the activity series.

This RUclips channel reminds me of my old high school science classes that I loved so much. Went on to study business, but love all things science in my off-time

Wonderful demonstration! Needless to say, this is one that probably should not be attempted at home without the proper safety gear and training :) Gotta say I miss the old days where the Gilbert Chemistry Sets had some chemicals we'd never think of having in the household today. Always loved Ammonium Dichromate volcanoes! However, I was too young for the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab (yes, it was an actual thing!).

Well said! DO NOT TRY THIS ONE AT HOME!
I can't believe they had Chemistry Sets with uranium!!! I have a few kilos of Ammonium Dichromate that I am going to use to model a volcano but I had to get very specific disposal approval to be able to do it! I figure I will use up a bunch of old stuff to show people what it looks like so they don't have to try to do it on their own. Then we can make sure it is disposed of properly.

All of your content is great, this is a great demonstration! I hope no one gets butt hurt and reports you. There are stiff penalties about defacing currency. Under section 471 of the U.S. Criminal Code, “whoever, with intent to defraud, falsely makes, forges, counterfeits, or alters any obligation or other security of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.” 18 U.S.C.
