      Ex-JWs apostates are all gays like 'John Cedars' Lloyd Evans and you! Bible is clear on such sinning behavior on same level as fornication and adultery.

    Really interesting video! Having been a dedicated Church of Scientology watcher for the last 8 months or so, seeing this was like being introduced to a parallel universe. I feel so sorry for the millions of people the JW cult has captured, especially those who have lost loved ones to the dis-fellowship practice. It's a good reminder that the pain you know is never all the pain there is.
    I hope that those trapped in all cults are able to break free sooner than later, although for most that isn't a realistic hope. We are watching the Church of Scientology's death throes, but for escaped Jehovah's Witnesses there is yet a long way to go until they reach this point. I hope that the victorious efforts of ex-Scientologists and dedicated journalists like Tony Ortega and Lawrence Wright will give dis-fellowshipped JW's hope that their own efforts will eventually but inevitably succeed.

    Wow. Excellent video. Their is a Jehovah's Witness Hall in my neighborhood that I drive by nearly every day. But I really know nothing about them. What is so strange is that I have lived here for 20 years, and not once have I ever seen anyone go in or out of that building. I wonder when it is used.

    Back in the late 60's The IRS contacted The watchtower bible and tract society regarding family members disconnecting that had businesses and not being able to talk to one another.It was worked out that the family members could talk to one another about the business being split and having one of them keeping the business and sending all the all the tax forms to the IRS .

    I disagree that the JW members are the victims when they choose to disassociate with loved ones. Cult or not, people have a choice in all circumstances. My family was in this same position back when we were JW's and chose not to disassociate despite being under the same pressure. These cults exist because individuals do their bidding, taking away the cult doesn't solve the root of the problem, it merely acts as a catalyst.

    I've just found out this video, and I think it's really interesting and helpful ... I'm italian, I'm part of the roman catholic church but I don't really believe in religion and I'm particoularly negligent towards mine. When I was 19 my mother died and just a few months later 2 JW rang my bell and I welcomed them in my home, at the beginning it was amazing, but then I started to look up on the internet stuff about the organization and asked them some questions... when they understood I would never join them they disappeared, they still try to reach out sometime, but not really ...

    Wow. IDK how just now found this (guess ive been busy!) but to Lloyd evens, ive been apart of an online community called the jWrecovery website where we helped people who have been shunned by their family, abused, isolated, and even kicked out of their families and needing guidance to adjust and sort of assimilate to normal life. IE how to get to drivers lic. and not be afraid of alot of things. Well the website was recently shut down out of no where and now i fear these people no longer have anywhere to go.
    I dont know if you know the deep history of the religion (theres things they try to cover up) but i actually grew up right down the street from a large house called "Beth Serim" or "house of princes". Look up the house you'll be surprised. I'd like to see another website for those those have been shunned and tossed aside be given another website or some sort to help those who need it.
    Funny little side note. IDK if you know all the history of the religion but i grew up right down the road from a very special house called Beth Serim.....Most of the the younger witnesses dont even know about the place but it was bought and built on forced donations and the idea that once the princes returned to earth that they would need a nice place to stay in! lol.

    What would happen if the person that is disfellowed is a minor? How do JW parents handle say their 14 year old that does things against the church?

    • @jlebrech
      @jlebrech 8 лет назад

      treat them like shit, tough love to get them to come back. and if it doesn't work at 16 they throw them out. some parents are lenient currently.

    • @sherrysmith337
      @sherrysmith337 8 лет назад

      Unless the kid tells people in the kingdom Hall ( There church) that
      they are gay, The nearest brother will grab them and throw then
      out.Instant Disfellowship. I know of 2 teens that did that to get out.
      And their family's continued to talk to them and they continued to live
      with them.

    • @vegenostic2231
      @vegenostic2231 8 лет назад +1

      They address it on their website as far as official policy. Basically the minor child is treated with the same level of shunning by all of the family and the congregation as if they were an adult. However "parents may even study the Bible with a disfellowshipped minor who continues to live with them" Well isn't that nice telling them what they "may" do. Also they are allowed to sit next to their minor disfellowshipped children at the meetings and aren't even required to sit at the back. Wow how generous. If there are other members of the household, the disfellowshipped child is not allowed to take part in "family Bible study" but the parents can do a separate one for them. That is the official word. However, the truth of what actually goes on is much harsher. I've known of several JW suicides, but the one closest to me was that of a 14 yr old boy. He had smoked cigarettes with an older companion and got caught. The 18 yr old was not baptized, therefore there was no action. Slap on the wrist. He couldn't answer at the meeting or go in field service, which he didn't want to do anyway. The 14 yr old was DFed. None of his siblings were allowed to talk to him. And his parents only spoke to him to give him commands. He was forced to stay in his room, even eating his meals there so he wouldn't "contaminate" his siblings. He was excluded from family outings and not allowed to watch TV or have music. After only a short period of this, he hung himself. He wasn't even mourned or allowed to have a funeral at the hall. This isn't an isolated case, but the one case I can speak to the details directly.

      My mom has never been a JW but her dad and stepmom are. My aunt (my mom's half sister) was disfellowshipped when she was 16 or 17. They sent her to live with us for several months while she was in the process of getting back into the good graces of the organization. To my knowledge they didn't speak to her (but did talk to my mom) the entire time she was with us. Now she's in her 40s and afaik has toed the line ever since she was allowed back into the fold.

I gave up trying to do bible study with Jehovah's witnesses they are closed minded people

      Great video, but I'm with Ayn Plath. Why did you describe the speakers colour? When Caucasian people talk about anyone else, skin colour is not mentioned, EVER. You never hear, "This White Fella said or this yellow person said...." Only when it's black people. I don't get that. I really respect you guys and what you are doing, but if you are racist in anyway, that's were I draw the line and will not support you anymore. I think you should clarify yourselves, edit this video or apologize. I'm offended and I really don't care who responds to this in a negative way. Keep your comments to yourself, except for Chris and Lloyd. Please add your comments

    Tomorrow, on Saturday morning, the Witnesses will very likely turn up at my house with big warm caring smiles, either asking for my husband(who like me, made the mistake of telling them his name once) or inviting the public to attend an event at a Kingdom Hall. The usually insist on leaving literature, "for Robert" if I decline.
    Last weekend I was doing laundry in the garage (if you don't have a laundry room in So. Calif, this happens in the garage) and the door was open. A woman approached with a few other people and says, "looks like you're doing the laundry" cheerfully. She stated she had a pamphlet that explains what happens after we die because, "a lot of people really worry about this". Please! We're Catholic and nobody knows what happens after we die. We all have unsubstantiated beliefs about life after death, including like Eastern religions who believe in reincarnation, every religion has beliefs about what happens to the soul after the body dies. So anyway.
    I told her I am Catholic and believe in the Trinity which I know JW's do not. She said, "sounds like you've talked to us before", which is true. We exchanged polite words and they went off on their way and didn't even insist on leaving a pamphlet that I will feel strangely bad about tossing into the recycle bin.
    Are there any simple questions ex-JW's could recommend I ask instead to possibly trigger some doubt or get them to explain their more abhorrent practices? Or should I just stick with our glaring theological differences and go back to finishing the laundry?
    Since the JW's are so nice and polite, I don't want to be hostile or rude. They are humans too, and are approaching me respectfully at least on a superficial level. So being rude or abusive or even slamming the door on them, is not something I personally will ever do to even JW's. But a polite exchange of ideas would be great.
    I have noticed that when I have gotten into discussions with them in the past, there is a point in time when they really want to end the conversation and move on. So whatever I say needs to be direct and to the point.
    Thanks!
    I subscribe to Lloyd's channel, too. Chris and Lloyd are 2 of my favorite channels. You both just come across as genuinely nice and intelligent people who've been through a lot. Thank you for providing information and commentary to everyone who wants to find out more info!

      ***** Wow!
      Thank you so much for your detailed reply!
      I think your suggestion to ask questions about their beliefs is great! Now that the world hasn't ended after all those predictions, these are huge questions for them to answer.
      Just to make sure, the JW's believed the world would end (or Armageddon might be the word?) in 1914 and then again in 1919? But we're all still here somehow? Should I ask when they now believe this will happen?
      Are you a former JW? Or did you find out this by researching it on your own?
      Thanks again for your reply!

      Hey, I loved my Motorola Razor flip phone back in 2009 when Sprint didn't carry the iPhone! That thing fit perfectly in my back pocket, had great stock ringtones, and stayed charged for more that one day! LOL
      Then I moved up to a Palm Pre! That died and my phone insurance plan replaced it with an HTC something total piece of crap in 2011. Then God smiled upon the slaves who were locked into 2 year contracts and Sprint offered the iPhone 4S in 2012. Although I hated touch screens thanks to that HTC piece of junk that was supposed to replace my Pre, I took the chance. I instantly fell in love with the iPhone!
      In regards to the cool Motorola ringtones, I had no luck finding my favorite anywhere online. Finally I paid for one of those services where someone who knows what the hell they're doing to find it for $15 dollars. He found it! I put into my IOS, and now every morning that little stock tune I wakes me up. I thought I'd never find it again.
      You probably don't care. But I feel chatty on the topic of flip phones today. LOL
