Much like the printing press or any other form of communication, movies are where the world is at.
If Adventists stick up their snooty nose they will miss out on reaching people and contrasting the horrors of many cinematic content with something better.
Many people in the world associate Ellen White with Joseph Smith and think she is some sort of cult deceiver.
I’m happy that this story is being told so people of the world will come to theaters and check out a period piece. Next thing they know they are saying, “wow, I did not know this story” and might go home to research more.
Would you still say this if this movie led many people to pick up a great controversy?
Imagine if this movie can get on Netflix. Even more reach.
Your assessment of theaters is without reasoning, it is no different these days than you watching something at home on your television.

The Great Disappointment is a fascinating point in history. In the 1830's and 40's people thought Jesus would come again. When He did not, the movement fell apart. However a small group, instead of saying "where did the Bible go wrong", said "where did we go wrong". After the experience broke them of the bad habit of injecting their own interpretations onto Scripture, they found a lot of Bible truths, overlooked since the Dark Ages, that needed to be preached.
When you think about it, this event is directly responsible for shaping our modern world. The scoffers outside of Christianity, who saw the Millerites make such a dreadful mistake, turned to evolution and communism in the next few decades. The scoffers inside the church abandoned the historicist method of interpretation and by giving up on the day for a year principle, the stage was set for futurism to take over as the way most people look at Daniel and Revelation.

The actress who plays her part also had roles in 'Below Her Mouth' & 'How to Plan an Orgy in a Small Town' & 'Stripped Naked' and a couple with the 'F' word. E.G. Some of the critical comments remind me of the Pharisees when Jesus was here as a man. Unwilling to consider anything beyond your own distorted point of view. It isn't the theatre that is sinful. It is what is observed there that is sinful. To another point, there may be similarities to Tell it to the World, but it is a new and different movie. Accept it for what it is, and stop making judgments before you have seen it. So what if there are a hundred like movies? Each one presents a new opportunity to witness to someone. Let's all be open-minded and open-hearted to receiving and sharing about Jesus and His plan for salvation.

Daniel 8:14 is best explained by verse 13:
Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?”
The second saint is asking the first a question. The answer is given by the first in verse 14. The Millerites gave the answer of 2300 days and the Adventists who rose up afterward have looked to that answer for meaning and purpose ever since. We are the Second Saint.

This is like the music. They're bringing world music in the church hoping to get the younger people come to church. And they're right. Young people are coming to church "to dance". Paying attention to Ellen White is a violation of the first commandment. It means, "You shall not pay attention to any authority between you and me (Jesus, or actual name, Yahshua)". "Thou shall not have other Gods (authorities) before me (between you and me)". I was raised Adventist, but the church pays attention to Ellen White, thinking that we need her to explain the Bible to us. Ellen White was not more intelligent than you are, so you can understand the Bible as well, or maybe even better, as her. William Miller and Ellen White probably never heard of Antiochus Epiphanes, who Daniel 8 foretold would have his army occupy Jerusalem from 167 to 164 BC. The little horn in Daniel 8 grows out of a larger horn, indicating that the little horn king is a DESCENDANT (son) of the large horn, and Antiochus Epiphanes was the son of a former ruler of the Seleucid dynasty, which was one of the 4 divisions of the Greek empire after Alexander the Great died. Where it says he will magnify himself above the "Prince of the host", the "host" is the Jewish people in Jerusalem (even though they were an unwilling host), and their "prince" (hero) is MOSES, NOT Jesus. Antiochus Epiphanes told them that they would no longer pay attention to the laws of Moses, but pay attention to him instead, on punishment of death, and he sacrificed a pig on the alter and erected a statue of Zeus (some say Apollo) in the Temple, and stopped their twice-daily services (sacrifices). From the time he desecrated the Temple in Jerusalem until the Maccabean revolt kicked his army out and the Sanctuary was cleansed, with the sacrifices resuming, was EXACTLY 1,150 days, a little over 3 years.
The correct scripture of Daniel 8:14 is: "Unto 2,300 evening and mornings (services, or sacrifices), then the sanctuary will be cleansed" (and the services will resume). The word "days" is an INCORRECT translation, it is the result of the translator ASSUMING that "evenings and mornings" meant "days". It is NOT one of the "day for a year" prophecies. So, William Miller and Ellen White, and the Adventist church today, are being mislead by the MISUNDERSTANDING of a translator, causing people to think it is one of the day for a year prophecies. If a Rabbi left Jerusalem for one year, then came back, and said, "Are you still doing the Evenings and Mornings?, he would not have to use the word "sacrifices", or "services", they would know what he is talking about. Daniel 8 even says that he would not die by human hands, and Antiochus Epiphanes died of a disease, he was not killed by another person. In addition, the belief became that in 1844 it was the "heavenly sanctuary" that was cleansed. The problem with that is that God NEVER gives a prophecy that when it comes true we cannot SEE or HEAR it come true. God does not operate that way. Every single prophecy in the Bible, upon its fulfillment we can HEAR it or SEE it come true, so that we learn to TRUST God. A prophecy that comes true without our being able to hear it or see it come true is a prophecy that has no valid reason to be given, so would be a waste of God's time and a waste of our time. The Adventist church is right about several things, including the 7th-day Sabbath, but needs to get rid of Ellen White and the teaching that Daniel 8:14 is one of the "day for a year" prophecies. The action of Antiochus Epiphanes from 167 BC to 164 BC TOTALLY FULFILLED all of Daniel 8.

This is a shameful demonstration of misleading. These producers took a powerful story, Tell the World, that a lot of people put their lives into and simply made a new movie. Not a director's cut but a new movie. All of this except a few establishing shots were shot in Canada. This producer was never on the set in Canada which comprises nearly all of this movie. the original was viewed and loved by millions on RUclips as Tell the World, which was taken down to make way for this dramatically cut down movie. Very sad and disappointing that a powerful tool of evangelism was repurposed for a vanity and for profit. I write this all with a a very heavy heart.

Her writings are actually very powerful and truly inspired. She did admit to using some information/ quoting from other authors in her writings.... following the writing rules re plagiarism was not a requirement during her time. True copyright laws became federal law in 1976. Prior to this, many prominent authors quoted or used information from other authors in their writings . The New Testament authors did not have to get permission from the Sanhedrin to quote from the Torah.
