Carl, just a quick note to thank you for the always thoughtful and thorough presentations. This video answered all my questions about Innovv’s “Third Eye” systems.
Hi Jon, you are very welcome 🙏, thank you for leaving a note.
Regards Carl
After watching this, I decided to get a new bike with the blind spot detection :)
👍🙋🏻♂️
Your Videos and explanations are the most clear and professional on RUclips (And I've watched plenty). It's like having a Pro Engineering tutor in the garage with me, which I very much need believe me. Thank you very much. Exhaust vale just started to Squeak that's how I found your channel and thank goodness I did, it's brilliant.
Hi Barry, thank you for your feedback and I’m pleased you find the explanation helpful, good luck with your cleaning 👍
Kind regards Carl
Thanks for the video Carl! Your videos are always so detailed and a joy to watch! I Can’t wait for the next video.
Hello Dan 👍 thank you 🙏
Thanks Carl, Brilliant video. I've been meaning to get one of these for a while.
Hi Mark, thank you 🙏, more information to come in a later video.
Carl
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos Carl. As always, a pleasure to watch. All the small and important details that you mention are always important to know. Great video, I already have the Innovv dashcam but now will also add this new gadget to the bike. Whatever adds any bit of more safety while on the road is always welcome. Look forward to your review videos. All the best. Max
Hi Max, good morning and thank you 🙏, I agree anything we can do to improve safety on our busy roads is appreciated.
I enjoy making these videos it’s a pleasure to share and help other owners, although they do take several weeks to put together.
Best wishes Carl
Great Video, very informative! Thank you for sharing.
Good evening James, thank you 🙏. Carl
Excellent video Carl as always.,👌
Thank you Mario 🙏
Very timely Carl, I'm in the process of installing my watch version and your method for the display is super good!🎉
Incidentally you could take a power feed from the auxiliary power socket or the small fuse block.
All the best from Wiesbaden!
Nick
Hi Nick 👍, perfect timing indeed and great suggestion about the additional power source 💪
Send my Greetings to E 🙋🏻♂️
Hi Carl.
Thanks a lot for all your videos. They are just great.
I installed the mirror version of the thirdeye system on my r1200gs adv 2018. In order to have the led indicators on the mirrors, I changed the oem ones for a 719 copy. They look great and they have inner channels where to route the wires and there's a very good place where to stick the indicators on the up of the stalk (next to the mirror). I think it's probably the best place to put it.
In your case, maybe also on both sides of the gps, like the clock version. Your clock version, in Germany where overtaking is on the left, I would put it on the left of the GPS.
And also, the possible future product with the connector for the r1300gs OEM mirrors. That would be for sure the best option.
Best regards.
Hi Juan, greetings 🙏. Thank you for your kind words and feedback very much appreciated 👍. Sounds like you have done a great job on your motorbike.
Yes your idea to use the R1300gs mirrors is great and I hope to have a video about exactly that conversation very soon, Innovv are making a new product that will to this. When they have finished testing it I hope to have the new product on the channel.
Thank you again and best wishes Carl
Wow, another idea to spend some more money on. I'd never have thought about this if i didn't subscribe.
I'm now going to have to give this some thought.
Thanks
Hi Simon, yeah more ways to spend our money indeed, in part 1 which will come soon you can see both versions out on the road. Carl 👍
Nice explanation Carl, waiting for the road test. Snow must be gone right now 😂.
Hi Edward, yes snow now gone and replaced by lots of rain 🌧️, I’ll get that episode up as soon as I can 🙋🏻♂️
Great contribution, looking forward to the next practical test
Two more questions, are those available in Switzerland and are the allowed or must they been proved (in Germany TÜV)
Hi Daniele, thank you 🙏 yes part 2 comes next
There is nothing in the box that says it is compliant, so I’ll ring my local Tûv Next week and ask. Good question 👍
Than you@@justthewayitis
Hi Carl...When you connect the two thicker cables for the front to rear units, if you look where the lug is in the connector, there is a Innovv logo with an arrow on the outside. Both sides of the connector have the same logos and arrows. You don't have to look inside the connector you just need to line up the logos and the arrows for a perfect fit. Great vid by the way.
Hi Paul, well spotted and thank you for sharing, perhaps I should wear my glasses when I’m filming 😉 in garage. lol
Kindest regards Carl
Thanks Carl. Another well presented and informative video. I'm going to wait to see how the 2 systems work out. But initially the watch type seems best for me. Wiring under my seat is getting tight, as I have an Cansmart and several accessories wired under there.
Hi Slip, good evening, the cables are long and give lots of mounting options, this is just one that worked for me during the testing, I’ll probably move everything once I’m done and possibly down one of the sides. As you’ve got a cansmart the ignition on feed will be easy for you. Carl
Wonderful Thank you
Your very welcome 🙏
Thank you Sid 🙋🏻♂️
Great video ( as usual) Carl, certainly an interesting upgrade to consider. I think I would want to mount the sensor centrally as it would then work well both in UK and whilst touring in Europe. Looking forward to your on road testing in the next video and which design you settle on.
Good morning Nigel. Thank you , yes mounting centrally would be perfect, but so far during testing it seems to perform fine mounted slightly to the side, more info to come soon.
Finally spring is on its way which I’m delighted about 👍🙋🏻♂️
Best wishes Carl
I wish they made this for cruise control. I have a 2022 GSA that I can honestly say is the only thing I wish I had. Otherwise my Rhino is perfect !!!! Great video as usual !!!!! 🙂
Thank you 🙏
INNOVV's cameras systems are top notch too. Several of us have them installed on our bikes so we have front and rear video all the time. This came in handy when I had an old lady turn left in front of me. As a foreigner in Japan I'm immediately at fault, but since I had a video of what she did all the fault was on her and there was no contesting it.
Thanks for another great video and INNOVVative tech for us to check out.
Hi Correy, good morning, that sounds like the Innovv camera saved a lot of problems and was worth installing. 👍 do you use the K6 ?
I’ve heard good things about it
Carl
@@justthewayitis I've got the K5 installed.
@correykeen2956 ok, I’ve got question .. can you read number plates clearly in the footage?
And are you happy with the results
@@justthewayitis yes you can, at night of course the video is a bit grainy. I'll pull some videos off and upload them to YT for you to take a look. I'll let ya know when I've got them uploaded.
Brilliant, thank you 🙏
Hi Carl, another fabulous video as ever. I’m looking forward to seeing your Part 1 episode to learn how beneficial these systems are when out on the road. Could you explain which QBag model it is that you have featured in your video and how you have it mounted please?
Hi Waggler, the model is made by Qbag it is called a (Luggage Rack Bag) it fits the 1200 and 1250. Just google it for resellers in your country. Normally it’s around 10 to 15€.
Carl
Hello Carl, I have the mirror kit, I tried on the mirrors but they aren't bright enough to catch your peripheral vision so I then moved them onto the Cymarc anti-theft bracket which surrounds my TFT and they work a treat. As you mentioned if you don't have the back under the rear rack it's easy to fit centrally underneath which I've done.
Hello Jay, sounds like you found a great location for your mirror kit, I’m going to check out that bracket it sounds perfect, thank you 🙏
Carl
I wish I'd read this before going to measure mine. This is the perfect location.
Need to decide on which option now.
@@Simon-fm8yc I’ve got the mirror ones but in hind sight would either get the clock face one or of gone for the Chigee which incorporates a similar blind spot warning but also has a camera and display for Apple car play.
@@JaySalvoUKthanks. I'm leaning towards the watch next to the sat nav. I like the rear collision indicator and it's more in my line of sight.
The Watch version up by the Navi is 👍
Problem is Carl a lot of these lights , cameras etc accessories are likely to invalid you bmw warranty . They hate you personalize your bike unless it’s bmw and they fit it all at well inflated prices , here for example 84€ a hour ! Great vids Carl 👍
Yes that’s very true, BMW want more of are hard earned money 💰
Is it possible to use 3M tape and stick the clock inside the windscreen? I own a Triumph Bobber, with few options for running cables or visible locations.
Yes that’s possible, what about mounting it on your bars? Or using one of the four bolts that hold the bars in place. ?
Innovv also have some accessories on their .com website which might help like bar clamps and brackets.
Carl
Hello Carl
news about beeping in the starting sequence when connected via ignition power
I believe that there is an updated version that addresses this. I have a call with them next week, I’ll confirm and add news to the video description
Carl
Hi Carl,
Thank you for the lovely video you provided for installing Third Eye. I have one question i tried looking for L Shaped Bracket, but I am not able to find it anywhere. Can you please let me know where you got it from? Thank you in advance. Cheers
Hi, if you mean the stainless steel bracket that I used up behind the Navi 6, this is something I bought and modified from a local hardware store. I am sure you can find something local you could use.
CARL
@@justthewayitis Thank you.
Your welcome 🙏
Hello Carl. Brilliant idea & beautifully described. However, your discount code on the Innov site keeps rejecting as “invalid code” 😢😢😢
Hi Tony, thank you for the feedback, I’ve checked and the code works on the .com site but strangely not on the .co.uk site, so I’ve sent an email to Innovv.
I’ll message you back once I get a response
Thank you for letting me know
Carl
Hi Tony, Discount Code is now activated on the UK website.

Hi Carl great and very thorough installation guide. But where is your follow up rider review. I have K1600 which I very much want to have this system on but am having difficulty deciding which system to buy as real-estate is a bit short with the big TFT screen in the middle and I don't want to be running wires that are visible to the mirror stalks, which are my preferred option, but would not like the wires running up to them which is why I am keen to see the 'watch' style in action. Kind regards Peter
Hi Peter, good afternoon, I have delayed the second video due to a new option I’m testing and also an updated version of both the LED and Watch versions from Innovv. I want to include this new option and the updated versions in one video. Hence the delay.
But I think for the K1600 it will come down to the LED and Watch version as the new option will not work for the K1600.
I will be working on the second video next week so hope to have that up soon.
I know what you mean by having a clean install without cables or wires visible, so the Watch version might be the best solution if you can mount it somewhere you’re happy with.
Of the two versions I tested both worked brilliantly but I think the Watch version gave the cleanest solution.
More to come soon
Kind regards Carl
Hi Carl many thanks for your reply and advice.
You are very welcome 🙏
@@justthewayitis Hi Carl I opted for the mirror version as like you I found a place on my console to mount the indicators. A quick questions, what are the sticky pads and the black metal piece that come with the installation package. Can't seem to find a use for them, or am I missing something. Kind regards Peter
Hi Peter, they are provided for different mounting options, I also did not use them but it’s great that they could included in the kit.
Carl
Your channel has cost me $800 - first the weiser lights and now this radar! I hope you're getting an affiliate deal :D
It's also great fortune that the Weiser system has headroom for the radar.
I actually had radar on my Tiger 1200 Rally explorer and I do miss it when in commuter traffic on the GS. I will have to look for your review video as I'm torn between the 'mirror' mount and the 'watch' style. I have doubletake mirrors and it's impractical to think about mounting the LEDs on them. Also, I'm not sold on where you've mounted yours as there are nice little bags we can put there on the GS. did you think about mounting the mirror LED on the gps bar itself? I wonder if you didn't have the watch mounted there then the mirror LEDs on the GPS bar might have been ideal.
++I can't find a review video from you about this, is it not up still?
Well… if you get wait a couple weeks more I’ve another solution!
It’s not cheap but once I’m done testing I’ll share more.
My suggestion is to wait then you can choose between 3 different options.
Carl
@@justthewayitis sounds good. I can wait as already I didn't think I'd get this feature on a 1250. Was leaning toward the watch mount but I'm not loving either mounts apprach. It seems the mirror mounts are only adhesive and the watch mount won't give that same spacial separation. I was thinking a 3d printed part near the gps bar could hold the mirror mounts but seems like a lot of trouble.
Then your going to like the new option. I will share more very soon, Carl
@@justthewayitis just curious will the radar best option update be coming soon? also curious about the possible quickshifter fix you discussed previously. I hope you're not abandoning the 1250 for 1300 content now.
Hi, the R1300GS has gone back to BMW and my R1250GS Rallye is staying 😉.
Just returned from 10 days in the UK working at the ABR festival at Ragley Hall, so next week I will continue working on the alternative Radar solution video. I’ve now installed it on my 1250 and one R9T last week at the ABR, it’s brilliant 🙋🏻♂️
The quick shift fix / possible solution seems to work on 4 out of 5 bikes, so there is a risk some owners would be disappointed, so currently I’ve decided not to feature it on the channel. I may return to it later in the year.
Carl
Just got an email from Innovv because I asked them about the beep sound:
Dear customer
Thanks for your message.
We have new version with the feature that allow the ThirdEYE to keep silent permantently by pressing the audio once.
Please keep me updated if you need it.
Hi Michael 👍👌 thank you for letting me know, strangely Innovv haven’t told me this.
But thanks I will mention this in the second episode 👍
Not having a clue about electrics, could someone please tell me if i could get a BMW connector and put this on the Innovv and connect it to my redundant BMW nav power lead without any issues?
Thanks
Hi Simon, I think you can use the one at the front as it’s a switched feed that only comes on when the ignition is turned on, as to the rear one I’m not 100% sure because that socket is used to trickle charge the battery. If I have time I’ll check but maybe someone knows the answer and can give you quick reply
Carl
@@justthewayitis Thanks Carl.
I'll connect to the sat nav connector for my installation.
Hi Carl. I just tried to use the discount code, it’s saying invalid?
Hi Gordon, a couple of viewers have found this. Sorry
The .com website is accepting the code but for some reason the . Co.uk website isn’t
I’ve sent an email to HQ asking them to resolve it.

This is Part 2? I don’t remember seeing any Part 1 🤔
Hi Jessica, Part 1 will be out in a couple of weeks, once the snow and ice has gone from our roads.
Carl
@@justthewayitis Ok cheers. I was a bit confused there 🙂
No problem 🙋🏻♂️
It remains technology. Trust your mirrors and look over your shoulder.
Hi Wim, yes there is no replacement for MSM. But it’s a nice assistance
I was so excited about your video that I did make some thoughts about it myself. For me this lights have to be in the mirrors beacuse this is where I look to when I change the lane. But I also do not like to glue such lights in the mirrors as this doesn't look nice. So I thought why not take the mirrors on the 1300 and put them on my 1250. I ordered one and of course the voltage that the mirror needs is not what comes out of the Innovv module. But with some adaptions I managed to make it work on the table.
ruclips.net/user/shortsZxfAybf_4Cc
So I wll cut of the original LEDs put that nicely in a box now and mount it on my bike like this.
The good news is that Innovv likes my idea too and will come with a version with connectors that can be directly pluged into this mirrors.
Hi Michael, yes several people have had the same idea and I think it will look great on the 1200 and 1250 models.
I spoke to Rock at Innovv about this a few weeks ago so I’m aware a new version is coming that will be plug and play.
It’s great to see you have a version already working, well done for your work 👍
When the final version is available I will hopefully make a video about it, as you are aware it’s not a cheap solution but a more premium solution… but still I think many owners might take this option.
It’s great to see that Innovv are listening to owners from around the world and making products us riders need and want.
Best wishes from Sunny Hessen
