Thank you so much we really appreciate that! What a nice thing to say :-) Making stained glass and working with Disney that sounds amazing too!! Thanks again Next time we see some stained glass we will have to take a few extra moments to appreciate all the work that goes into it :-)
I'll ask it then. What did you use as a hard protective coating? I see all these 2 part coatings that promise a bullet proof coating. But they cost about ten times what the damn foam costs!
For this one we used a polyurea, though these days we often use Smooth-On styrocoat. Simple cartridge sprayer and relatively low cost on the material side.
Awesome work, as per usual. I want to help with one of these projects. I know it's the other side of the country but if you have to build anything in LA in the next few months, keep me in mind. ;)
TomSpinaDesigns Thank you for your answers, I have had problems with yellowing in the past. So I see you used some sort of primer, are you willing to share that medium? I recently used StyroSpray 1000 but the smell was crazy strong.
June Pegram What you're seeing is probably the spray coat, we haven't used StyroSpray but for any coating like that ventilation and respirator are clearly a must.
how much did all this foam cost? everywhere i look it is so expensive. the sculpture i want to make will cost me $33,000 for the foam alone, is there a cheap place to get foam?
WOW... FANTASTIC... WOW
the fact your still responding to comments now. true legends
Happy to do so for folks who appreciate what we make :)
You are my heroes....I would love to do this kind of work. At least I get to work with Disney doing Stained Glass for the Galleries.

Thank you! We had a lot of fun working on her. That is up to the Governors Ball coordinators, perhaps we will see her in future festivals!
beyond impressive.. What do you seal your polystyrene with?
Hello June,
Thank you for watching, we really appreciate your kind words. We used a Polyurthene spray cost for this one.
TomSpinaDesigns Do you find it hold up to weather mostly rain and sun?
June Pegram So far its held up pretty well from our perspective.

Is this styrofoam? How does it get properly disposed of without harming the environment?!
Make the mount rushmore
If someone commissioned it we would absolutely love to make that!

Look for EPS suppliers, but indeed, foam isn't cheap (especially not shipping around giant blocks of it!)
Thank you
TomSpinaDesigns do you think you can buy little pieces and do a small lady liberty
Why the Statue of Liberty is not finished
It’s because that it wouldn’t take a long time
What’s the white parts made of
EPS foam... similar to styrofoam, but then hardcoated with polyurea resin for a durable shell
Mansoureh job 125!
I Like Statue Of Statue Of Liberty S🗽
Is that copper
no, it's all hand carved foam with a hardcoating of resin and hand paint to look like aged copper

Good work, this statue of liberty's face looks to hard, she looks like a man to me, no shade, the real statue looks like a man ,
Thanks! We did what we could to be true to the original look :)
