The mustache makes you look like you're about to aggressively call me brother
Cheers for the good laugh mate
@@inhalerofmoistmeals2931 Thank you sir!
@@samtidwell5878 A mutual thanking, beatifully wholesome
it has a porn stache quality to it.
@Sam Tidwell: _" aggressively call me brother"_ I'm dying laughing. I remember how that was a term of endearment a couple decades ago. Now it really is more often an aggressive thing most often used to imply some sort of right wing racist comaraderie. But the reason it's funny here is because Sammy is not _that guy._

A little bit disappointed you didn't make a "Let's address the elephant in the room" joke
why did you shave the mighty sammyG beard signature
He decided to partner with hulkhogan guitars
Dabiel oh really brother

I once farted loudly and it resonated my guitar. I recall it made my day.
Do you fart in e minor?
@@ThomasNimmesgern that requires 3 sequenced farts
I farted loudly once in front of my bass guitar. Now i play in poison.
2:55, thought it was gonna be the Nationwide jingle
i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who thought that
The guy who wrote that jingle sold it for a flat rate. He also wrote the "Here Comes the King" Budweiser song, and he still gets a cut every time they make their Christmas commercial.
Lol
“It could probably withstand a flight on united” that had me dead💀
Hilarious :D
I thought the reason that room vibrated when I played an a major power-chord was through the sheer majesty of Rock. Then you have to go bringing science in to it.
Has anyone taken his rudiments course? It actually sound pretty decent
I did. I'm not the most dedicated student out there, so I haven't really finished it yet, but it for sure deepened my knowledge about guitar and gave me a couple of excercises that I do every now and then.
Do you get belts like a real samurai? Or is that another warrior culture that does that? Lol I'm ruining my own joke. I should be practicing and not commenting.
Honestly, its great. I got it during the black friday sale and I've learned so much already!
Is it like a subscription thing or a One-time payment thing?
@@pizzasheet8183 One time payment
That bass harp/guitar is one of the most beautiful guitars I've seen. Not psyched about the carbon fiber thing, but they created an amazing looking instrument that looks like a naturally occurring piece of wood that they just attached strings to.
I have one of their acoustic basses it is a 6 string with a low F# B E A D G tuning. It is definitely loud acoustically compared to many other acoustics. But they will custom build options, as mine has Both a piezo and a bass bar pickup setup each with its own controls and outputs.
It looks like real wood because it is real wood. It's a very thin veneer that's purely there for aesthetics, but it's real wood and they have a huge selection of very rare and fancy woods to choose from.
Ryde on!!!
That stache tells me
“LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING BROTHER!!!!! WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE SAMURAI GUITARIST RUNS WILD ON YOOOOOUUUUU?!?!”
Me: Sammy G plays it, kinda cool, maybe you can use it one day
Also me 3 min later:
Jimmy Page plays it?!
Wow, I need this!
Good demo, Sammy G, love this series and your video content in general!
Btw, how‘s your progress in learning german?
I think in 20s or 30s, Gibson made some harp guitars, they're quite rare and hard to maintain but interesting history for sure
Sounds like a really interesting way to save the space and time for a Bass and Guitar if you needed both in a situation. Now that I think of it, I could perfectly see Billy Sheehan and Steve Vai double teaming on one of these haha
@stefano_ terra That is definitely true I believe
Do you just comment on every video ever?
@@Delwood55 Not for the sake of it. I just have a warm spot in the heart for many of these musical content creators
actually ..Alistair who owns Emerald guitars built a special custom guitar for Steve Vai a while back
Man, it sounds as good as it looks, beautiful! I’m looking forward to hearing more from this instrument 👍
Thank you for showing these off! I've been looking at these for a while but there isn't a lot of coverage on them!
Sammy G be looking like he stole Tony Iommi's early moustache
Great show and tell! Loved the sound and look of this instrument. The one manned band music is insanely appealing to me. I would love to hear some more songs on it.
fun fact ad came after you played at 5:08 and the ad stayed in tune, using the same chord progression as you. god i love being a musician
I listened a second time with my headphones, and I really liked the voice of it when you played to show the extra vibration and I loved the accompanying bass notes at the end. I haven’t seen someone play a harp guitar in awhile that’s really cool. Thanks Sammy
Am I the only one that would like to hear how that thing sounds with a decent amount of fuzz? 👹
No, we all do.
Fuzz has got to be the best effect ever invented
Oh, that would be interesting.
Micheal Hedges is usually the reason people get into harp guitar
That was super nice. Really appreciate those small creation that you've played. Love the acoustic sound and the base note in the back. Really looking for you too play it again. Should do a video on "different style played on the Harp guitar"!!!
We gonna let him get away with that desparado stache
Yes
This harp-bass-guitar is so sick!! Nice video like always samurai...
Id love to do this for a living. Keep up the good work!
We had one of me dad's friends come all the way from America to collect a custom made one of these. They sometimes sacrifice a little bit of the acoustic guitar tone, but when you're playing it right they're amazing.
That demo was awesome great job 👍
I'm from Donegal and a big fan of the channel. Very surprised and pleased to see you getting an emerald involved. Class
I miss your full beard Papa Sammy
Love the gear videos! All of your stuff is great 👍
If you want to see a good application of harp guitar, look up Michael Hedges “because it’s there”
I was gonna say the same thing. I never hear anyone mention Hedges. I actually learned that song from an old Guitar Player or Guitar World that had Steve Vai's Blue Powder LP (a few years before he put it on an album & was using it to showcase a Carvin Pre-amp...which I ended up buying at the time) on one side & Michael Hedges Because It's There on the other.
I'm surprised at how everyone mentions Andy McKee and no one mentions Michael Hedges
Exactly, he was one of the pioneers in using a harp guitar
He was so amazing, AND engaging in
To be fair, Andy McKee mentions Michael Hedges.
Who's Andy McKee?
I went to Donegal last August and it was one of my favorite trips of all time...
Im from donegal
1:49 duuuuude you have to make a full version of this song
Didn't expect to see this come up on your channel! I'm from Donegal and I've been following Emerald for a while now. If you do visit I know plenty of people that could show you the best spots (& guitars!). Keep up the good work!
Yeah the resonance thing was immediately noticeable to me when I got a double neck that has a bass neck and standard 6 string neck. You gotta make sure to prevent the sound leaking badly.
Great composition and beautiful playing. Probably one of my favorites of yours. I also appreciate the Sean Daniel and Ian Stich reference with G the people's key.
#thepeopleskey #peopleskeyofG
That piece you wrote was really beautiful! I could def listen to more of that.
4:24
😄 Yea, always the 'A' for some reason, not so much the other notes/chords
Special note on sympathetic resonance, a low Eb on an alto sax makes my belt buckle vibrate
very informative...well done...like that swiss one
Sympathetic resonance happens on a regular guitar as well, which is why well adjusted guitars sound "more rich" than the other ones.
This is why muting is critical: try playing an E on any string, then mute only the string you just played. 2 or 3 other strings should still be vibrating!
The more strings on a guitar, the richer the tone gets, but the harder the muting game gets. And when we start adding distortion to all of this, things can get quite messy!
This thing takes it to another level though!
Love your composition and really cool instrument esp for accompanying yourself.
If you do come to Northern Ireland and you’d be up for it you should do a meet up! I know me and many others who’d be down for a jam
Hey I’m from Ireland and live in Cork
0:06 I thought you said 'Sinner G' and were referring to yourself before encountering the Japanese gods and reaching atonement
The six string part of the guitar harp sounds fantastic. The whole thing sounds fantastic. You playing is quite impressive too. I just never heard a carbon fiber guitar that I liked the sound of but this sounds really amazing.
That first bit you played worked pretty well.
I have a harp guitar but have not found a place for it in my playing. I suppose it’ll happen some day.
I have to say Sammy G, right now I really enjoy your pieces that you write a lot more than in your earliers videos.
The first one here was absolutely gorgeous. I would buy that.
The one you wrote for the Passarelle: I actively listen to that regularly.
I hope you‘ll record some of these somber pieces, because I think you have a knack for it.
donegal is beautiful i always go down there with my family in the summer. in northern ireland (where i live) there is also castlerock beach and caravan park on a mountain. it’s all rocky with a beach below it. it’s beautiful 👍
Sympathetic resonance is what gives the sitar its ethereal sound
The headstock of the guitar actually seems like a PRS
The Kontragitarre (2neck harpguitar like this) is typically used in traditional viennese Schrammelmusik since mid 19th century.
Beautiful song, man!
that Kiedis stache was more surprising than the instrument! love em both
*I need one*...NOW!!!
Oh and, that first piece you played on this beautiful beast was absolutely beautiful, young sensei!
Beautiful guitar and nice tone. Does it have any kind of pickups?
That is a really interesting instrument. No sound hole, even! For great harp guitar stuff, check out Michael Hedges. He had an amazing, idiosyncratic style of playing.
When you played the harp/guitar, it had a sort of folk-rock/country-rock sound, a little bit like the Eagles early work. Quite an interesting sound, and useful if you don't have any friends who can sit in on bass.
Fascinating; love the sound.
If you're heading over here to Ireland you gotta go to Co/ claire too.
I love the Zappa stache Sammy G!! You just gotta put that hair down 😎
Your first melody was beautiful. Have you written a full song with that?
That's a beautiful looking instrument. ...In the right hands I can only imagine what's possible with it. Thanks for the post (review). The Casio EG 5 brought me to your channel. I'm digging the content. Subscribed and looking forward to more. Kudos ☆ ☆ ☆
Both those pieces played were good but that first one was absolutely beautiful. So inspiring.
your small sample tune is really good
Thought he was about to hit us with the nationwide jingle
Love the Zappa look you're rocking bud.
4:16 Try plucking a string on a Bass guitar without muting the others, they will ring along, if the played tone ist one of their harmonics (I believe).
That's why muting is very important when playing Bass.
Same with the Piano if you hold the sustain pedal and play a note, the whole thing sounds in sympathy.
I enjoyed your playing. First composition was really tasty!
He didn’t do movember so he’s doing it now
Owen Armit Not sure if it counts when you shave yourself a movember but yes!
Wow, Sympathetic Resonance; I noticed when I strum a Bmin my old B- papers and exams fly around the room.
FAIRLY THICK UNIT 4:01
Bro I played a couple of old acoustic ones from the seventies that they brought to my school. The harp was hard to use practically, but it was super cool.
Sounds pretty nice, and adds extra depth to an acoustic guitar. I like it
loved those instrumental parts
Ive been to Donegal before...well maybe its because i live in ireland. But it takes like 3 or 4 hours to get there from Dublin.
2:21 almost sounds like you're going to play the nationwide jingle lol
Apparently the store where you bought the giant pick also has a giant guitar. But it costs $900. That would be an interesting demo.
Synthetic Resonance is part of what makes a sitar sound like it does
This is also some incredible playing holy crap
Sammy G, in one of your other recent videos I remember you mentioned setting a goal for learning to do some new things through Skillshare...Curious about what other stuff on there has caught your interest? I was inspired by your idea of setting goals to learn a bunch of new stuff...A lot of their watercolour courses look cool...
I want to see it played with a slide!
I love the Lemmy type look you’re going for
great video!
2:55
I thought you were about to break into the Nationwide jingle
That sounds great. Is it plugged in or mic’d?
For a really talented harp guitarist, check out Steampunk Stace. I got to meet him in person and attempt to play his instruments, though I did them no justice. He plays beautifully and really is a phenomenal player.
Great song for this video!
Love the facial hair man. Great video, thanks.
I feel like this contraption would work well with looper pedal style compositions.
6:12 According to Adam Neely you were in the key of D.
Jk
Beautiful talent sound. Tone. Skill nice
not sure if it's the resonance I'm hearing but the sound is a lot fuller in the low end for a lecky when you were just strumming the chords
I definitely hear the rumbling, but it's not too horrible if its in the key. I would still shave off the low end with eq if you were to use it.
For a synthetic it does sound better than an ovation. Does it have the same agonizing fretboard?
Can you please explain to me why the beginning of your campfire tune reminded me of 'Fishing in the Dark' by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band?
Lovin the frank zappa look tbh. Suits sammyG well
