The first pot is actually very good for a guppy as the way it is. Sure it's not "full" of plant to combat the fish waste, but look at the size of that big plant and look at how big the fish poop are (if u can). That massive plant root is basically an oversized filtration already.

I feel like they just tell employees to go with it, because it’s harder to explain to people that come in with an idea in their head already. However, if you are a fish person and start talking to them about fish stuff they get super into it. But they’re just made to follow the boss’s orders.

About a month ago I removed my long fin Betta from my community tank as he wasn’t doing well with the water flow in there. He didn’t look good and his fins were raggedy and short. Put him in a temporary 3 gallon hospital tank and treated him with Betta Fix. Every week he looked better and better and every week lots of fin growth. He is all better now and I went and got a 10 gallon tank for him and some of his snail buddies. Since he is now in a 10 gallon, I placed an order with Aquarium Co-Op for a few additional plants for him. So happy he is doing well. I’ve now added a King Koi Plakat Betta to my community tank and since he is bigger and has short fins, he isn’t bothered by the flow in the tank and is doing great.

I rarely disagree with you, but I believe the plant is more than sufficient for a couple guppies. Terrestrial plants have unlimited access to co2, if that plants grows well (and it looks damn healthy), it can easily handle the bioload and the substrate IS the filter. Plenty of room for bacteria to grow. Pretty OK setup in my eyes. If you compare it directly to your setup (with the floating plants and the pothos), your setup has by far less plantmass for nutrient absoption.

qotw- you have no idea what you're asking because in my house, it kinda rotates depending on who I am the maddest at. My all-time favorite dog was a really chill long-haired Chihuaha. He was the first dog I ever got as a grownup and it's been almost 4 years but I still miss that dude constantly.
My favorite fish in general are bettas, but I'm really into my panda garra. Another one with a huuuuge personality :) she likes to sleep in those floating betta logs, anytime it gets stuck under the water filter flow. I didn't recognize it til like the 5th time she'd done it, because I was busy being concerned that the betta thing was stuck and the betta couldn't use it. I finally realized it was now her territory and to leave it the f alone, thanks.
My current favorite cat is a new addition. Last Monday, I'm listening to an audiobook on my phone as I'm turning on my car. I hear a very frantic MEOW, so I turn everything back off and just listen for a bit. I go back inside, do a headcount of my cats. I come outside, look around the house to make sure there wasn't a cat stranded on my roof-- nothing. So I turn my car on, and immediate frantic tiny meows. It took almost 4 hours to get her out of my damn engine, but somehow she was completely uninjured and fine. She's too young for her first shots, but thankfully old enough to eat food. It was an irritating, very hot day, and I spent so much of it hysterical that I might have hurt a kitten...She's just going to have to deal with being fussed over and fed nonstop for awhile. I have no idea how I heard those meows over my book, and over my car engine starting, but I'm so very grateful I did.

I think its fine how it is because the deep substrate consumes nitrates because of the anaerobic bacteria that can live in the low oxygen environment and emersed plants filter the water 10 times better then underwater grown plants and with such a huge plant its probably filtering the water really well, that being said they could have left a bit more room for water and still had the nice deep substrate if they didn't fill it up so much.

QOTW: Hard question! I only have one pet right now, a paint mare I raised from birth. She's basically a 1,000 lb lap dog. lol But I love all pets! Dogs especially, but also cats, bunnies, ferrets, birds, fish, reptiles, goats, pigs... I've even made friends with a zebra and a camel! (The zebra loved kisses ❤) My dream is to have my own little menagerie someday.

Dwarf gourami females are very hard to find, and I've never seen one in person. The more colorful males are usually all you see. Also, lizard fish might refer to a whiptail or farlowella catfish, a twiglike South American catfish.

Oh wow, I had never heard of a freshwater lizard fish * Synodontidae *, but google says "they are an elongated with rounded bodies and scaly heads. They grow to a maximum length of about 50 centimetres (20 inches) and are characteristically mottled or blotched to blend with their surroundings. Most lizardfish live in shallow water.

My favorite pet in the fish room would probably be the scuds and orange isopods colony. So small and crustaceous. Love me some crusty pets😩

A Goyder River rainbowfish is a rainbowfish, right, from Goyder River, Northern Territory, Australia.
There are many, many varieties of rainbowfish in Australia where the colour morph is unique to the river or stream where they are found.
Goyder River rainbowfish are some of the most striking and colourful rainbowfish in the hobby for my eye.
Oddly enough, Australian rainbowfish are far more commonly available to North American fish keepers than they are to Australian fish keepers. (I say as an Aussie)

I finished my last test redo at school, and now im done with school.
Im doing homeschooling now, but it was still weird leaving a school zone for the last time.
Also fun fact, Mystery and Apple snails are not the same! Apple snails are actually illegal. People tend to get them confused because they look similar. :v

I definitely think the little pot pond at the beginning should be deeper/filled with more water and more plants should be added. I'm in the process right now of making a little pot pond myself and it's going to get planted with a dwarf liliy, a sword plant, a Hygrophillia, some hornwort, and salivinia as some floaters. I'm thinking that at least initially it'll just be filled with decorative plants and just be a water garden. I am trying to fogure out how to put in a little sponge filter as well or at least a solar powered fountain to add water movementand oxygen exchange. However I'd like at some point to put maybe 3 to 5 Medaka rice fish in it! I think it's all about making sure that if you put in fish, that the environment will support them.

@Fish For Thought I think it will! I got them from one of the gentleman in the local aquarium club I joined and I specifically asked if they would do well in a pot pond. He's very knowledgeable about aquatic plants!

Guppies need room, but as for depth? I'd go, maybe 20cm (about 8 inch) max?
That thick substrate might probably one of the most ingenius things I've seen. Along with the plants, the natural filtration must be insane and natural food (micro and macro fauna) that is able to grow there must be insane.
Just to be very clear, I'd pick a wide pot and do the same thing (repeat water depth about 8 inch and fill the rest with sand and dirt and minerals)

That middle plant is so huge even with the fish they definitely have to add nutrients to even if they tried to put other plants in there they probably wouldn't grow just because that middle one eats up so much nutrients
