Check out Culture Broker, a serial fiction novel I’m writing:
This is a story about a young woman who gets into all the wrong crowds.
And a story about a young man who is all the wrong crowds.
For everyone's sake, they should not fall in love.

The First hour is Fantastic, feels like a masterpiece, sadly for me the next 2 hours take a dip and do not reach those heights...and results in a very good movie, that meanders and loses its way in the middle for me, rather than a knock out masterpiece....Probably the 2nd best movie of the year still though, just being edged out by Oppenhemier....i hope De Niro and Gladstone get Oscars, they were excellent.
Completely agree!
I had some of the same thoughts. But if you’re interested I did a video on my channel talking about how this story has been told before on film. After I saw that, I felt more comfortable with the way Scorsese approached things. Gladstone is great though and I still would have loved to have seen more of her
I watched your video (great, by the way) and I see your point, those other depictions of the Osage Nation were rather scant and abysmal!
@@UpintheAirft.Zurich thanks again for taking the time to watch.
Hope you enjoyed the video! Have you watched Killers of the Flower Moon yet? Planning to? And do you think movies are getting too long😅?
Yes and to be fair, there is a select group of people I'd recommend it to though I love Scorsese's work, personally. I think my fear is more that people are increasingly losing their ability to focus as there seems to me an increase in short videos.
the greater the length the greater the need for judicious editing, i've watched THE GODFATHER, BARRY LYDON, and THE IRISHMAN multiple times w/o any hint of boredom
BTW, i have never been the least bit critical of any of the FAST AND FURIOUS films, WHY ? because i've never seen one, and have no plans to see one in the future
the saving grace in this film were the characters of MOLLIE and TOM WHITE, LEO as ERNEST was a horror of miscasting, i'll see his moronic face in my nightmares
Lily Gladstone stole the show for me! And Leo's face...he really could have toned it down, just a little haha
He constantly looked like he was sniffing a rank fart
Was not difficult to follow the plot lines. At all. To compare it to something it is not so could not do (different time periods in Oppenheimer) seemed an odd point of comparison.
Appreciate your point of view. I was more going with the idea that rather than the plot lines being difficult by themselves - you're right, they all had a simple narrative structure to follow - the intermix between all of them, added most particularly with the large cast, made it bulky/unwieldy in terms of the narrative structure in general. But again, you can only say as much as you can say in 9 mins, and again, I appreciate that some people might not agree!
Such great content and exploration.
Thank you!
Finally- someone else that isn’t buying the Oscar- bait
Ah, man, I appreciate it! I just want to look at films critically, without being influenced (too much!) by the veil of prestige that comes from all the big names involved haha.
perhaps, for me, the most significant legacy of this film, will be to expose the wanton mistreatment beset upon the native peoples of this continent
i;d rather watch paint dry than see this film, everyone disses THE IRISHMAN which for me was the real masterpiece
That's a wild take. This isn't the best movie ever made but it's better than 99% of the junk put out these days. I thought it was an incredible movie.
This movie was hard to watch. With everything spelled out for u there was no mystery there was no intrigue. IMO this movie was really boring even though the true story is a horror story. U mess up big time if a true horror story is boring to watch
Loved the Irishman
Me too!
Interesting! I really liked the movie still, but you're right, the intrigue is not there at all because we know exactly who's doing the killing. I find that the best part of the movie is the relationships between the characters and the technical aspects of the film, like the cinematography.
I loved it the first time and then got bored on the second. I don't know what to think. Loved the Irishman tho, especially on rewatches. Im confused haha
You watched it twice! That's basically a day's shift 😂. I loved Irishman as well! But, man, you're definitely a different breed to be able to watch it twice. I sincerely applaud you 👏
Hahaha I wasn't planning on it but felt too overwhelmed because of the anticipation, so I needed a neutral viewing. I think it will probably age great, it just needs time to breathe.
Clearly Martin Scorsese isn't as good a filmmaker as you are ; maybe he should have consulted you? We'd hate Your Highness to feel let down.
I appreciate the comment, despite it practically pouring with sarcasm. Since I'm British, I'm both accustomed to sarcasm and rainy weather ☔
seems your sentimentally is a perfect match for that which was displayed in this film, the idea that any criticism suggests that i deem myself a filmmaker is simply, churlish, why is anyone here except to offer a point of view, SORCESE is and shall remain among the handful of the finest directors of the current era, having admired most of TARINTINO's films, i abhorred THE HATEFUL EIGHT, and likewise as for the COEN BROS, couldn't even finish THE LADY KILLERS, yet i remain a loyal fan, but as one who carries CHOCTAW blood, the tragedy of the OSAGE is a saga worthy of the telling
your highness commands you blow it out your arse
The most boring film I've ever seen.
Interesting perspective, I actually liked it, but it is long!!
