I’ve lived alone for a year now and I love it! There’s definitely times when I feel lonely, but some things that help me is taking a short walk outside, having hobbies to do inside like Lego’s or painting. I also like to invite friends over to my place as well. The biggest one for me though is that I have my dog! He makes me get outside and is the best company 😌

I lived alone last summer, and I actually found that I needed to create ways to hold myself accountable to do things! I never realized how much my roommates being home made me subconsciously get up and do things. Cause when you are alone, there is no one to see what you’re doing and if you’re being productive or not!

I've lived alone for 5 years now. The main thing the pandemic taught me was that just because you're alone, doesn't mean you have to feel lonely, you can enjoy solitude.
Like Tara said, enjoy having the choice to do/eat/watch whatever you want, practise self-care and treat the relationship with yourself like you would any other relationship. Over the years Tara has made me realise you never know when your solo time will end so it's best to cherish it while it lasts ❤️

Celebrating my 10 year living by myself in September. As a 28 yr old, I learned that you NEED to build discipline. No one is gonna tell you to get to work on time, pay that bill on time, get a higher paying job, stop your spending addiction, get 8 hours of sleep or do the crap you don’t wanna do! The faster you build discipline- the more thrilling and fun freedom truly is 💛💛💛

When I was 16, I started a moving out box and added essentials to it every payday and when anything was on sale. When I moved out, I had all the basics, pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, curtains, towels, bedding, etc and just needed to buy cleaning products. Best advice I ever got to start the box.

I feel like one of the BEST parts about living alone is having control of the sounds in your life. You won’t have a room mate coming home super late and making tonnes of noise. You can choose when you want to play music or have things on in the background or just sit in complete silence. It’s honestly amazing 🥹

I went from parents home to living with my fiance and then within and our child to being a widow with a young child and then my husband passed so it was me and our son then my health went downhill and now we are at my mom's. She's 93 and her memory isn't the best my son will be 30 this yr and he helps us both while still having his own life. I maybe disabled but I still encourage him to live his life and not to worry about me because there's still a lot I'm capable of doing for myself and one of my older sisters is here if needed. We are who help my mom with what she needs and bills and keep her home.
I sometimes wish I had had the opportunity to live on my own like you but that wasn't in the cards for me. I still love my life and wouldn't change anything because my life experiences are what made me me.

You can always check out second hand stores for most of your home essentials as you don't need to buy everything new. Plus family and friends are more than happy to give you things they no longer want so it can be way cheaper than you would expect if you don't expect everything to look pretty and match at first.

I LOVE living alone. I love my me-time, doing whatever I want whenever I want in my home. Organizing everything the way I like it. I love my pink couch. Unfortunately I'm allowed to do anything to the walls in my rented appartement, but I just add color with my beautifull pink couch and pink chair. I also love renting for living alone (for however long it's gonna be) because that does take away a lot of responsibility around the maintainance of the house. I had a plumbing issue: my landlord fixed it. The dryer was broken: got a new one from the landlord (shared laundry in the building). I know a lot of people dream of buying but this is such a big plus to me. Did I mention I love my pink couch!

Have had a fiancé for about 15 years. He lives in a different state. We don't live together. One and done.😂 I love living alone. I like having a partner, but do not want to share my space 24/7 with anyone. I think you need to really love yourself inside and out. Be confident. Do what you love. Love where you live. I may be the odd person, but I didn't like living alone. For me personally, I felt oddly disconnected. There were some aspects I liked, for example decorating it the way I wanted. Cleaning it or not, when & how I wanted to. And having the freedom to put on music, TV, etc anywhere & not worry about it bothering anyone. But in the end, I realized I prefer to live with others. In addition, living alone is so expensive. I hated living pay check to pay check & not being able to save money. I'm glad I had the chance to live with roommates, alone & then with my partner during my 20s. It allowed me to adapt to different environments & find out what works & doesn't work for me.

I live with my partner and two kids (though some weeks it feels like it's just 3 kids). The one thing that I complain about the most is the amount of time I spend cleaning up after other people 😢 if I ever decide to blow it off to do something for myself like read a book or play a video game, the house turns into a full blown disaster and sometimes takes days to set back straight. But the days when the family vibes are positive and life feels good, makes it worth it. Sometimes 😂

I have NEVER lived alone and a lot of people wonder why an extreme extrovert is wanting to live alone. This video shows some of the reasons. The others are for my mental health I’ve had terrible living situations😂 even ones where it felt like I was the only one there for months. So I’ve got the independence down and taking care of myself down.
The biggest thing for me is location. If you’re like me, you love going where it’s exciting but when you get home it needs to be quiet. I’m from NOVA to Baltimore and I’m so excited because I often have a hard time with loneliness. But in Baltimore it’s impossible to feel lonely. I learned from therapy that when I am most down, just leave the front door and go where the people are. In the city I can walk to pretty much everything. Keeps me young and healthy 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve always felt like an extroverted introvert and just learned recently that it’s called being an ambivert!
So my transition into living alone has been a little different, I met my husband when I was 17 (I’m 34 now) and we got our first place on our own when I was 22. So I’ve never really lived “alone” but I can definitely offer some tips for living with a spouse!
    1. Be sure to still live your own separate lives and give each other space. Codependency is not healthy!
    2. Your biggest fights will be about what you’re going to eat and household chores. To avoid it, make it so you pick meals every other day and they pick the other days meals. For chores, just divide them up equally so you both know what you’re responsible for.
    3. Most importantly, communicate! Set boundaries and make sure to let your partner know what you need from them and make sure to respect what they need as well.
    Hopefully this helps someone!

Me, a married 31 year old woman, watching the entire video as if I’m a 20 something living alone 😂 I never had the chance to live alone but I had roommates and then moved in with my now husband. That was 10 years ago and we just got married in feb. we both value our alone time so much and also our time together too. I wish I had seen one of these videos when I was 19

I love living alone. I go to work as a social carer in a residential home, I also have a good social life so my home to me is my safe place my haven away from everyone. I just love it in fact I also opt to go on a solo holiday so I can do what I want if I want to just lay in the sun reading my kindle then I will. I actually prefer it to when I go with my friends lol

I would put on those RUclips ambiance videos, my fave were the nature/cottage/lakeside ones. I still to this day even do it, it fills the silence and sets a positive mood. 😊

Oh gosh how I wish I had the chance to live alone in my early 20's! I lived from 18-19 with host families in the US, than from 20-22 back with my mom, from 22-26 with my bf at my MIL's house (it wasn't bad at all, she's an angel) and after years of saving money and finally gratuated, me and my bf are moving to Europe this month!!! I will FINALLY have a place of my own, but obviously not alone (and if god helps will never have to live alone again hahaha)
I think that's a big part of why I love so much your content, it's a whole different life experience and I'm all in for it!

I moved out at 23 have lived with two different roommates one in the house and then one in the condo then at 30 I got a really good job saved up all my money and put a down payment on a condo. Moved out into the condo and loved it after living with others it was so nice to have my own place with my two kitties Was wonderful. They were happy. I was happy great experience. I really enjoyed it. Met my prince at 32 and we never lived together until his residency was up with his job in 2011. We bought a house together and I’ve been living here with my son now 17 and my husband he is a police officer and his job keeps him out of the house a lot and my son is now working so I really do enjoy my alone time at home with my pets. I work in elementary school so I have the summers off . I’m going to paint and get a lot of fun things done with the house. I have all these plans. Living alone is wonderful and I am glad I cherished it for so many years and I still enjoy having the house to myself.❤
