If they truly aren't human: finding out can really highten a Performer's chances to abstract, unless they somehow make peace with it and go a different kind of insane: and Kinger's the only one who knows about it and managed to get there.
"How can be one writer be this fucking cruel?" That's because technically, there was more than one. One of the writers for this series is Harlan Ellison. He wasn't directly involved, but what I mean is that this is I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, but in a bright and cheery setting.
I used to think there were either two possible endings for this series: either everyone escapes, or Pomni abstracts and with our POV character gone, the series ends. But this idea... this idea of there being no possible escape is so twisted and its another possible ending. Or it's just one of those series with no end whatsoever and the last episode is just another identical episode.

So if they are wearing some sort of goggles and are sitting on the chairs that allow them to experience this game as they are playing it through their avatars, what's going to happen if some random people take them off and wake them up?
If they're probably just human brain scans that didn't get saved properly then what would happen if the human playing the game ever put the headset back on??
That would make one hell of a theory. They can't escape, because there's nowhere to escape to. If you just leave the game, you just cease to exist. Because you are digital cologne, and the real you took the headset off a long time ago, and is living there normal life. And what if those who become abstracted, are those who discovered the truth, and were the result of actually escaping. A form of true corruption. And I wonder if he's keeping him there, because he knows this, but if he tells them they'll just all abstract and they will cease to exist. These are all great questions that could be a follow-up answer to the future episode of The Amazing digital circus. And I really can't wait to see the next or actual episode. It's a fun concept that got turned into a digital cartoon, that people apparently can't get enough of.

That's pretty much my own headcanon. That they might not even be human, but brain scans of humans stuck in the digital space that is Digital Circus. Perhaps behind that computer program format lies a sort of television show. Not the real life show we actually have, but perhaps an in universe reality tv show, something where you cram a bunch of people into a small space and watch them drive each other nuts, complete challenges and find some way to escape, or go abstract trying. Of course, it would be agaisnt human rights to do such a thing, but digital recreations of humans aren't exactly human themselves. So the humans each Performer was based on deliberatly sold the digital likeness of their brain to a some mega corp to do this. In this case, Caine wouldn't be actually evil, but merely solidary to the Performers plight, but unable to go agaisnt his programming of being an entertainer. All he can do is make it as comfortable as possible for them, and do his best to hide the terrible truth that they aren't really human, lest they abstract even quicker. Now, what kind of horribly cruel and twisted (real world) writer would do such a thing to their characters? A human one would, of course! When the character's fictional, all's fair. We've already had shows where an actual human was imprisoned for life in a twisted reality show for the amusement of others (The Truman Show). Heck, human's have, in real life, took pleasure in the suffering and death of others (Roman gladiators). We're a twisted bunch.
So if we're getting an episode with every character, Wouldn't that mean there actually is a limit in how many characters can be in one instance? if we are getting new characters, that would mean one of the main cast will have to abstract on order for a new character to spawn, Jeez 💀
For some reason InJax’s episode I’d like him to have an existential crisis or be paranoid at one point, probably to make things more realistic and give us something more to see from Jax rather than just being a “silly sassy rabbit man”.
This reminds me SO MUCH of the premise to the game 'The Talos Principle' as well and... (That game gave me so much good dread ooooh) I AM SO HERE FOR IT~!
Have you considered that this is actually a game that everyone is playing in real time but have their memories of the outside world suppressed when they put on the headset and are experiencing a strange VR world not connected via the internet but something else. When they go to sleep is when they log out. When they learn this truth in character they then distort because the in game version and the real life version collide over the revelations and the in game character escapes leaving behind a body with no mind making a distorted monster. In any case I really hope its just a case of their names is the only thing that they've forgotten.
God imagine if it's like Club Penguin or ToonTown. Like; they eventually connect to a public server and there's like 274531651 Pomnis and Jaxes running around (because of course they're the most popular character models).😂

The series would focus on the troubles of finding each other in the real world after they escaped and took over other minds and would end with a scene of a mad scientist trying to copy their mind into a robot. TADC SEASON 3: Our cast of characters find out about these robots and want to finally be freed and have a body of their own. Through the struggle they also find some of their original humans from which they were copied but are horrified at the idea of just merging back into those and Kinger faces the problem that their original died of old age already. Two camps form. The “just merge back” camp and the “my own way in my own body” camp. Shenanigans shenanigans, one of the split mind humans try the headsets and a copy of a copy is transferred into the digital world. Now you have both, let’s say, Pomni (in a split personality human mind) and Pomni2 (a copy of the original copy) which turns out to be evil because of some incomplete cognitive transfer taking place. TADC SEASON 4: The original cast founds out about their evil copies who are trying to delete both the originals and the original cast (the original copies) and take over the original bodies without any merging or split personality. They need to fight those evil copies to make sure the originals and themselves stay alive. One of them succeeds in merging with their original (let’s say Ragatha) and they go a bit (more) insane. Shenanigans shenanigans, the evil ones are defeated, the original cast is reunited and occupying either robot or original bodies (merged). They decide to help Cane build the “exit” but Cane goes through it and copies of Cane end up escaping into human minds. TADC SEASON 5: They need to find all the people with Cain split personalities and clean up the mess, Bubble ends up escaping and causing havoc in the human world. You get the point, you could milk this idea for AGES.
I really like this theory and if they are all just copies of human consciousnesses, then they either will have to accept their fate or need a new body once they’re out.🤔😳 If it’s the latter, then it’ll certainly be an interesting identity crisis.😅 I still wonder if they’d all be erased if the power ever gets disconnected or if the game itself is able to keep itself from shutting down.🤔 Also, I hope you get feeling better.❤

I’ve never liked Clone Theory. Always felt like angst for the sake of angst rather than anything meaningful. Why would I care about these characters’ traumas if their real selves aren’t dealing with it? Sad to hear you believe it.
