Funniest announcement video I've ever seen! And that creepy, threatening music is exactly what haunts many readers when they think about tackling these chunkers!
Want to finally finish Count Of Monte Cristo, have been reading it in dribs and drabs for the last couple of months but hopefully this will get me over the line!
My favorite time of year! 🎉 I participate every year, and this year I’m going to tackle Don Quixote. I loved this video, btw. The looming tomes were perfect! 😂
Yay! I found your channel a few months ago by watching your videos on March of the Mammoths, and this year will be the first year that I get to join in!! I haven't decided yet what I want to read, but I'll defo be joining in!
This is really exciting! Just found your channel and this readathon will definitely push to me to at least start some books that are 1,000+ pages!! Also loved that intro!
I’m planing to finish last year’s mammoth Les Mis, this year. I really enjoy it but sometimes it’s just hard to keep it going when there’s so many shorter books on the go that don’t need my full attention.
I will be looking for my mammoth. Loved the opening. I’m sure that’s what my books do - they pile themselves up wherever they can find a flat surface and sit there going “it’s my turn surely?” to which I answer that I’m not Shirley. Whatever! I will be reading along quietly as I don’t do much social media stuff. I will let you know my choices next time. So glad you’re back as I missed you.
Oh that sounds fun. I had Under the Dome I want to get too. I read a mammoth on January (Swan Song 919 pages). Just subscribed. Peace love and happiness ~ Tracey
Loved that intro! This is the first videos of yours that I have seen, and I'm happy to have found your channel. Last year I got so excited about March of the Mammoths that I bought a toy Mammoth for an instagram TBR photo. And then I didn't end up reading ANYTHING in March. Guess that means this year, I will be prepared. I plan on reading Bleak House and Red Comet. Looking forward to seeing your selections and getting to watch your back list of videos.
Thanks for checking my channel out! I chose Red Comet last year and it was phenomenal! Well-researched nonfiction yet also as engrossing as a novel-- such a good choice. I'm glad you are spreading the word on Bookstagram! :)
Alex, so nice to see you on Booktube! I am very excited to see what books - because you always read more than one! - you’ll be reading this year. Jo Smith and I will be reading Dombey and Son, our third Dickens’ mammoth.
Dickens was such a mammoth enthusiast! I always seem to hear good things about that one though! And yes it is nice to have this annual event to force my out of hiding haha :)
Books of Jacob was great! Can’t wait to see which books you pick. You always have great tastes in big books. I started my mammoth season early this year with BoJ and now I’m reading The Dying Grass. Kin from Jergovic Is another I want to get to soon.
Ahhh, you are tempting me with that positive review of Books of Jacob!! I really want to get to The Dying Grass but have been stuck in Argall for a few years now 😓
@@bigalbooksforever I’ve read the rifles (loved it) and went straight to the dying grass. Plan to read fathers and crows sometime down the road after that. Would love to hear your thoughts on TDG when you get to it.
Awesome announcement video! 📣 🦣🙌👏 The Tale of Genji or Journey to the West will at least be started over here. 😅😉 Good luck and hope you find some new favourite bookish bricks. 📚 🧱💪🤩
I'm excited to join in this year! I'll be trying to get through The Recognitions by Gaddis and Joseph and His Brothers by Mann. I'll hopefully be able to get through all of The Recognitions and at least the first two books of Joseph (which is almost a mammoth in and of itself lol)
Excellent choices! That will definitely keep you busy in March. I'm curious to hear what you make of Joseph and His Brothers-- it's not too common to see people reading it!
@@bigalbooksforever I'm excited for it! Mann's Magic Mountain is my absolute favorite book and I usually also say he is my favorite author because of it (although there's a few others who could take that spot too lol), so I'm making my way through all of his works. I'm hopeful I'll like it especially since Mann himself thought it was his greatest work. I'll definitely give you some sort of update once I've gotten through at least a portion of it!
I know that March is going to be a busy month for me, so I'm only committing to one mammoth read. I'm trying to decide between Don Quixote, The Tale of Genji and Anna Karenina. No matter which novel I choose, I know it's going to be a great month!
Don Quixote is a great choice-- it's way more fun than any classic mammoth has any right to be! One day I will have to work up the courage to get to Moby Dick! :)
@@bigalbooksforever i struggled with Moby Dick the first time. The second time I read it I couldn’t understand why I’d ever had a problem with it. The third time, it was just wonderful.
The opeing humor made it so clear you are a teacher heheheheh =) I mentioned Atlas Shrugged to you once before, and you said you were hesitant to read it, but I hope you can sceptisism and give it a try. It is a really profound book.
Haha EXPOSED! Thanks for the reminder! I should definitely give Ayn Rand a chance once in my life! Would you start with Atlas Shrugged over The Fountainhead?
@@bigalbooksforever I think the page count is comparable, I just can’t bring myself to lug around a hardcover over 900 pages-the book is already heavy enough 😆
🎉🎉 i finished reading war and peace last year so maybe ill pick up anna karenina this march? i have an audiobook read by maggie gyllenhal i am looking forward to listening to! always look forward to your tbr/mammoth content :) ❤️
_First!_ ¡Hola, Alex! I'm reading _Don Quote_ and _War and Peace,_ this season (yes, in Groups! Voxer et al). Love me #MarchingMammoths !!! I buddy read _JR,_ last month! Whew!
Funniest announcement video I've ever seen! And that creepy, threatening music is exactly what haunts many readers when they think about tackling these chunkers!
Thanks, Steve! I can't compete with Jason's props and Lukas' cinematography but I try!
Definitely going to participate, I have too many mammoths to read!
That opening was pretty hysterical!

That one definitely picks up momentum towards the end. Happy reading! :)

I had a bit too much fun picking out the sound effects haha. Don Quixote is one of the most fun mammoths out there-- I hope you enjoy it! :)
Yay, Alex so glad to see that the three of you are hosting this once again. I will commit to reading one chunkster! Not sure what I will choose! 🤔😀
Great to hear! I hope you find something excellent :)

Fair enough! There are so many places where the plot grinds to a halt with that one... but the ending is definitely worth it :)

The mammoth search is as much fun as the mammoth hunt! I'm glad I'm not the only one who talks to their books haha 😂
I’m so excited to hear about what you’re reading!
Lmao the intro was hilarious 😂

Yes I don't like making reading commitments to far in advance! I hope you find something great :)
Pleased as punch to have you back as a co-host in 2022, Alex. Let’s sharpen those spears and bring down the beasts!
Yes! I am ready for the most hardcore reading month of the year 🤘
Got to compliment your style Alex. I am being brave with Don Quixote this year.
That is a delightful choice! I'm trying to picture what it'd be like if knights rode around on mammoths instead of horses...
@@bigalbooksforever me too now 😂
Yeay to The Eighth Life and Our Mutual Friend 💓

this is perfect timing! i just finished anna karenina so i will take a break from thick books in february and pick up another tome in march.
Yes I firmly believe in taking it a bit easier in Feb to mentally/emotionally prepare haha :)
I need to read more mammoth books, but I’ll probably be still reading The Books of Jacob in March
That one seems like QUITE the commitment! I hope you're enjoying it!
@@bigalbooksforever I am enjoying the weird theological discord between the Jews, Christians and Muslims, but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea
