Whoa, your Lai Changs are stunning! Every variation of this species has some of the prettiest leaves. My family and I really can't get enough of your videos!
@@Lidia-ze5iu Thanks for asking. Three parts vodka (I like Tito's), one part dry vermouth, and one-half part olive brine (more or less to taste). Chill well (freezer for half an hour or shake with ice and strain). Garnish with queen size stuffed olives.
I absolutely love plants! In the last ten or twelve months, I have been obsessed with Hoyas. I now own eight different Hoyas. I’m still learning about them and trying to work out where I can more effectively grow them so that they can flower. Like you, I don’t pay the exorbitant prices some nurseries ask but I do shop around and end up finding clearance plants or cuttings from plants belonging to friends or family. Markets are also a great place to find cheap plants.
I only have one hoya at this point. So I watch your videos to live vicariously through you. I don't need any more plants of any kind. Only thing about Hoyas is they seem to have pest problems compared to run of the mill houseplants. Love your before and after picks! Your Hoyas are gorgeous.
Thanks for watching and adding your comment. You're welcome to live vicariously. I'm not sure about the pest frequency, maybe HoyaHeads just whine louder. Sure the flat mites are annoying, but nothing compared to the Alocasias and Calatheas I have - spider mite magnets. Thank goodness for systemics.
#1 I envy you that closed in back porch. #2 I love that you present uncommon hoyas #3 that hoya sp Lai Chang Forest is so beautiful! Wish list!! Overall very lovely hoya showcase! The Systemic works great too. 👍🏽 Look forward to your next! Dee, NY
Thanks, Dee. The porch is my favorite room, as soon as the weather gets warm enough, I live out there. Lai Chang Forest is a stunner. Thanks for watching and for your comments.
Thanks. Anyone can have a "green thumb", but sometimes it means unlearning stuff. Plus, we don't often show off our caasualties, though I do this week. Thanks for watching and sharing your comment.
we should make t-shirts that say "Oh I need one of those!" This type of video is inspiring and also rough on my wallet! Every since I saw that ns12-323 in your other video, I couldn't stop thinking about it and after seeing it again in this video, it was too much for me and I had to have it! I've really got to learn pon better since it seems like yours thrive in it.
I'll have to add that t-shirt idea to the merch on my website. Sorry about the damage to your wallet, but NS12-323 has been so much fun. Pon has worked well for me, but I think it's more about the nutrient solution. Pon has no nutrients, so water alone won't work. Thanks for watching and adding your comment
Love me some good plant update videos and yours are amongst the best! I can’t get over how much growth you and Dave, Sober Plant Guy channel, get out of your Hoyas. It’s exciting to see! My Rangsan is pretty but small and has not shown any interest in growing. 🥰. I am optimistic that she will in time grow into a beautiful mature plant. Yours is Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing all these beauties. It’s very enjoyable to see plants thriving in their owner’s care! 👌🪴🥰
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I'm enjoying making them. My 'Rangsan' is turning into a monster. Once yours decides to start growing, it'll seem unstoppable. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
Lai Chau is definitely one of my favorites. I got it in a local trade, and I was so happy. But I would have paid for it, for sure, if she didn't want to trade. I noticed it doesn't like bright light, and mine grows super slow for me. But to be fair, I did reroot it in pon, so it was set back a bit.
I re-rooted mine to pon-ish as well, so the roots needed to re-establish. Mine's growing under grow lights, and gets nutrient solution with every reservoir refill, which they all seem to appreciate. Good luck with yours. Thanks for watching and your comment.
I love that Rangsan!!! I got one about a month ago!!! She’s growing like CRAZY!!! Can’t wait until her leaves get that large, dark, & splashy!!! 😎😎😎😎🪴🪴🪴🪴
I like your videos - your personality comes through :) Idk if this has been considered and doesn’t apply, but does your camera focus on closeup objects better if you hold your hand between your face and the Hoya? Sorry if I’m making obtuse suggestions! I bought 2-leaf Rangsan back in 2019 but it didn’t survive the great flat mite apocalypse of 2021. Well it did, but it emerged with this thick curved corkscrew stem with a leaf on it, and I knew it couldn’t be saved lol
Thanks for your suggestions. I'm working on the "close up" thing, and am actually going to practice today. Those flat mites are just annoying little suckers. Thanks for watching and your suggestions and comments.
I treat mine as I would any other H latifolia. It does seem to like a good amount of light and moisture. Depending on your growing medium, feed it regularly. Thanks for watching and for your question.
As always love your close ups. Great video, just a side information about Doug Chamberlain. He talked about an organic solution to mealy bugs called Pure Crop1. He said it works great. Not sure if you have tried it.
Thank you. Yes, I saw Doug's comments about PureCrop1, and am trying it now, though - touch wood - I haven't had any mealy bug issues in quite a while. I'm interested to see what it does with other sucking pests, especially flat mites. I'll keep everyone posted on that one. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
Love your sunroom with all windows. I had a house with a sunroom back in the day in Minnesota. Great room for all those Hoyas. Question how long have you been collecting Hoya? Does your spouse/partner enjoy them too or think you’re loco? lol 😂
Thanks. When the warmer weather comes it's my favorite room. I got my first plants when I went to college in the 70's, but I've only been collecting Hoyas for five or six years. Though I sometimes say "we", there's no partner or spouse; and most of my friends don't get Hoyas, or the bonsai, or having more than three plants, and do think I'm a tad loco. Thanks for watching and adding your comments.
How long do you persever with a two leaf cutting before you give up and chuck it in the compost. I have a curtisii that was two leaves, now only one. It is over 2yrs old. It doesn't like me. All my other hoya are doing okay. It's frustrating. I enjoy your content, thanks for sharing ❤❤
H curtisii can be a very tough one to root, very tough. I had a similar experience with an H lacunosa variety - it did not die, but neither did it thrive. I finally pulled the plug after trying for well over a year. Thank you for watching and for your comment.
Sometimes a 2-leaf start looks pathetic, but given time and proper care, you've nurtured some beauties. Thanks for the encouragement.
Let’s hope because have about a dozen different 2-3 leaf babies 🤞
Thanks for the compliment, for watching, and sharing your comment.
I look forward to your weekly updates, your collection is awesome
Thank you. I'm having fun with this, and connecting with other HoyaHeads and PlantNerds is great. Thank you for watching and adding your comment.

Thanks so much for your compliments and to you and your family for watching. Your support means a lot.
I truly enjoyed this video. ❤
Thank you, that means a lot. I appreciate that you spent a bit of your time with me, and took the time to comment.
@PlantedInRI now I want one of your tasty beverages 🤣recipe????

Very lovely unusual varieties. You’ve done a great job nurturing them and it shows. 🌱
Thank you for the compliment, for watching, and for adding your comment.
Just added Rangsan to my wish list!💚💚💚
LOL, its not my fault. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your Rangsan hunt.
Cracks me up. I talk to my plants the same way.
It's sort of a weird combination of commanding and pleading. Thanks for watching and adding your comment.
I have a 2 leaf ramgsan cutting I got for 8 bucks about a month ago. It's rooting in my prop box!
Very cool, once it gets going you're going to love it. Thank you for watching and commenting.

really cool to see how they’ve grown.
your collection is insane! 😍🌿
btw i think Rafflesia is pronounced with a soft s as in “lesion”.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I'll try that pronunciation and see how it fits. It sound a bit better.

I just ordered an H. manipurensis. The first Hoya in a few years. You have some very nice plants.
H manipurensis is very cool, you will enoy it. Thank you for watching and adding your comment.
RHM-009 is putting out that vine like a bull whip. LOL
Exactly, and now I want some leaves on it. Thanks for watching.

I've just gotten a little one leaf rooted Rangsan, and was wondering what care tips you have for growing it. Thanks so much!
