- I heard you guys! You guys wanted me to play King of Fighters 96. I can't turn down any fighting game, especially ones you guys suggest. I thought I was able to get through the arcade mode with out losing... But I was wrong.

This game is one of the reasons why im so glad I still own a Japanese Saturn. Out of all the KOF games, 96 has the best music and backgrounds. This game felt like the first one in the series where it started to establish its own identity and an example of how SNK always put those little touches into their presentation versus Capcom.
Also don't forget.... freaking Flying people in the Sky due to Goenitz tornado
A shame that the music resets after every round. The AES release is pretty cool, and the console versions are both better and worse in regards to the presentation.
Yeah it's when the KoF games got GOOD.
Everybody gangsta until KOKOUDESUKA!
I'm more traumatized to OWAKAREDESU!
🤣🤣🤣
💀💀💀
=)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂😂
Ah, yes, the boss syndrome Goenitz.
" Koko desu ka?"
" Owakare desu!"
" Shinbatsu desu."
The equivalent of kenshiro line "You already dead."
you forgot "Ikara desu"
Especially the KOF 98 UM version.
@@naruteoh123 True, but really, you just need to remember the OP kokodesuka and owakare desu.
This dude made me quit SNK games.
i love how krauzer's theme is straight up just mozart. he's a man of culture lol
Krauser have a orchestra in his final stage in fatal fury
It ain't Krauzer without classic music.
@@protossmind Which is the same piece in this game(Dies Irae, by, well...Wolfgang(lol)Amadeus Mozart).
In Real Bout Special and 2, it's Lacrimosa Dies Illa instead. Also a Mozart piece.
We all know Justin is top-tier. But I think it really says something about the SNK boss roster that Justin wins almost every final boss fight from “time over“.
He can only beat one boss ,,, and It's Orochi. Because Orochi AI is broken. And orochi is the easyest boss to beat
I won King Lion on NGBC with a "time over" lmfao, I'm dying to beat his ass :'D
96's stages were so good, they slowed the game down, thus the rest of the NeoGeo games had nerfed backgrounds.
Every stage in this game is a masterpiece, even by today's standards.
97 was the worse in slowing down🤣 especially during combos
@@GHOST5691. yea especially with the added effects like Kyo's fire explosions
@@v888t speaking of Kyo, his vs match against iori also has a unique soundtrack with a bit of some talking in between: kof 98 🤤
@@v888t that combo of orochi Chris, kyo, yamazaki, lag the game to the point of task over🤣
Just remember the sacred words, “LETS GO JUSTIINNN!!!”
Preceded by "Finish it Justin!"
“NEVER GETS OLD JUSTIN!!” Lol
More like famous last words
Whoever originally said "Let's go Justin!" should trademark that!

5:34 Mozart's Requiem in d minor number III Dies Irae is such a powerful song. Props to the Editor
It's the original soundtrack of kof 96, and also Krauser's theme from Fatal Fury :P
@@raullessa1482 that's really cool. I know that the entire Requiem was performed at Mozart's funeral. The last sectionof the requiem wasn't completed before Mozart's passing, but was finished by a student of his
@@fortythrone369 Yeah, it's actually Krauser's theme. I love how they put that in there.
My dad got me this game for Christmas, I was 6, and it awakened me to the absurdity of KoF and shoved me into fighting games. We still play it every year on Christmas and are very excited for KoF15.
Justin: Lames out Goenitz
Goenitz: Lands a turning blow at the very last moment
Justin: "Most embarrassing way to lose"
Daigo: Am I a joke to you?
@V. S. Werejester Agreed. People forget that Daigo only had chip damage health.
He said I got 3 characters I got this no problem... I don't think he realized how much of a monster Goenitz is.
That damned goenitz... That wind pillar of his is a pain
"this was the most embarrasing way to lose..." -Roundhouse, 2021
*beats the last boss by time out*
Yep, that's Justin alright. 🤣
keep the SNK content flowing.
Krauser's walk animation is EPIC!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
XD
Your editor is MAD good! I hope you pay him well. He cracks me up!
Justin really got his Head Trashed.
I see what you did there
I understood that reference 🤙
Title drop :)
Yep. The mic has been dropped
"It's been a wonderful show, thank you and good bye Terry....Kauser Wave!"
One of my favorite KOFs. Probably the best soundtrack. I see you met Goenitz.
I'll say the best soundtrack kof has would be rhythmic hallucinations from the orochi team kof97
@@GHOST5691. ironically my favorite KOF track is Bloody from 97. And I do love that soundtrack. 96 and 97's are pretty good.
@@OrochiPops kof have some good soundtracks in general, but I prefer the oldies, they gave off that I want to hurt you vibe
The Arranged Soundtrack of Esaka from KOF 96, is still awesome
@@bagsikdangal if I prefer retro sounds, then kof94 and kof95 had some serious good tunes
I really love this game. Even though this game isn't as good as most other KoF games, the sheer amount of improvements from '95 and the gameplay systems it added that we still see today done so well even back then make this game special.
Also, Goenitz hit you with his j.CD, where he flicks his cape at you, but it's hard to notice it.
Honestly, 96-2000 are all really easy, if you want more rage 2001 is infamous for it's last two bosses.
Not to mention that top notch soundtrack!
Not only KOF 2001 but 11 too.
@@kaceejones2282 Yes, 11s boss is ridiculous.
@@mariocraft3067 KOF 11 boss is darn hard, he made pink a terrifying color😨
I'd be surprised if there's *ever* been another person that's just picked this game up and beat it with one continue. Not knowing all the mechanics just makes it that much more impressive
Also not everybody is willing to embrace running the clock right from the get-go, but that's our Justin lol. Great stuff
Justin has played tons of kof to know the mechanics, he played 2002 um online and all the kof 13 trial combos for each character, he's quite the experienced player and the expert of finding the cheapest way out xD
@@sarvag13 yeah I know about that. I'm kinda referring to the other comments here about how he didn't know stuff specific to '96. Didn't matter much ;p
ANYONE WHO KNOWS HOW HARD 96 BOSSES ARE KNOWS THAT THIS PERFORMANCE FROM JUSTIN IS STILL LEGENDARY
=)
Round start and Mature is already KOROSHITEAGERU, damn, Justin, chill
Also that last air frame CD was so lit
The Desparation Supers here are insane, that Ralph floor tackle into punching ur face 👌
honestly Ralph is hella nutty with the crazy ass desperation moves, Galatica Phantom!
I'm surprised that you bit him in only two tries. I watched some die to this man almost 20 times.
5:59 too funny
The song that was playing while you were fighting Athena was Psycho Soldier, the eponymous theme song of the game Athena and Kensou came from, Psycho Soldier (1987)
Fun fact, the Psycho Soldier theme had vocals in the original game, which was the first video game to ever have a vocal theme song
LOL. Karma hurts man, at least you didn't suffer that much against Goenitz' shenanigans (yeah, for him the DM bar doesn't really exists), I'm still waiting for you to acomplish NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (you still have to beat Neo-Dio and the true final Boss Goodman).
It actually does. Goenitze can DM whenever he likes. When he is red life OR when he has DM bar, he does an SDM. ... and when he has low life AND DM bar, he does an SSDM. I tested it out.
@@Jasonred79squeek yeah, that's the only reason, otherwise is like he's not in red and has unlimited bar, but a funny thing that happened to me, is that Goenitz for some weird reason fought me fair and square the 1st time I beated KOF 96
justin before goenitz: never give up
justin after getting robbed by goenitz kick: never stop blocking
I've never been a KoF fan, I always liked SFs more, but I really took notice of how SNK made new char models for each one of its games, while lazy Capcom used the same models over and over again.
As much of an SNK fan as I am, I have to admit after 96 changed nearly every sprite from 95, they only changed significantly every few years, same thing with samsho 3-6
Yeah, while Capcom rereleased street fighters over and over with extra bells and whistles, snk made new games sharing mechanics and new sprites.
One thing that I just don't get is why does Goenitz charge up if he can use his special whenever he wants?
Reminds me of SF Turbo, when Guile is just sitting at the corner until you approach him and he does a flash kick, but the AI is just pretending, it can actually flash kick without even charging.
Maximum = higher damage
wow i never played 96 but some of these characters look like they were seriously nerfed by 98.
I spent my whole childhood playing kof 96 at the arcade! Kof 96 is my favorite fighting game of all time! I have many memories when I was playing with my friends! Nowdays, I play on Fightcade sometimes. KOF 96 forever!
10:07 like they always say, don't count your chickens before they hatch.
KOKODESUKA
- 36 yo gamer here who had this game fresh in his childhood -
Don't worry man, Goenitz Boss Syndrome is cruel. It happens to the best of us XD
The easiest way for Justin Wong to defeat SNK boss is a Time Over

There. I edited it
“NEVER STAND UP! NEVER STAND UP.” Lol.
Krauser's walking animation looks stupid af! 🤣🤣
10:08 “WHAT HIT ME??”
Goenitz: Skill.
I'd Love to see it Justin against Rugal from 2002 UM
I miss having the Boss team in other KoF games, great video! can't believe you got hit at the last millisecond😁😁
Thanks Justin 🐐 when I was a kid this cabinet was in a laundry mat...and that became the hangout, circles with everyone spamming Kyo and Team Fury of course. Next to it was Samurai Shodown 2. You da 💣
Goenitz: Koko desu ka?
Mature: You talking mad shit for someone on Koroshite ageru distance
96 is my first ever KoF and my first pick is Iori. I haven't remove him from my team since then.
It’s the “Yesss!! I TOLD YOU I WAS GOIN!!...😲” for me. lmfao🤣
Great pivot Justin. The content has been great. Especially now when covid continues to dwindle the fgc. You've been at the top of the fgc for a while now, kudos.
What hit me!?? 10:15 was so funny LOL!!!
NGL Justin should be paying attention to the arcade endings, they're usually pretty interesting to watch.
Krauser Music STILL Slaps.
Gundam Wing - Endless Duel
(Super Famicon)
It's essentially a Street Fighter game.
The final boss is crazy.
That was hilarious 😂
Man they made Goenitz so much better in 98 and 2002 UM. They expanded his move list
He found the trick. Goenitz falls for repeated shit like this. I recall I found with Leona - keep doing her ground sabre (charge back, press forward + kick). If he blocks, do it again and he'll probably block it & won't punish or take it. Wash, rinse, repeat. My brother found with Geese just keep doing his dp, and Goenitz will fall for that.
After SVC Chaos I still hear the word "kokoudesuka" in my sleep. 😰
That level 3 bro had me laughing 😂😭😂😭😂😂😂 thank you man I was feeling a little down 😂 sometimes people discourage you from enjoying retro games but idc I'll keep doing so it's my own permission not theirs. Let's gooooo!! 😜
4:20 Where does Prof. Longlegs teachs at?
ah goenitz, the man with the pretty much unpunishable-spamable "proyectile" that makes an impassable barrier from fullscreen
the transition at 10:37 surprised me, i thought the super did 90%
90 yo J. Wong: where did my life go???
KOF 96 is my fave not because because of the gameplay, rooster or anything like that... the VIBE is peak 90's arcade.
11:00 METER!? I DON'T NEED NO FREAKING METER!!
10:06 something crazy always happens hahaha
Tutorial to whoop Goenitz ass:
Low jump and press CD, then press down+D, and repeat
I love 96 so much its such a gem
Kof 96 was a rushed game. Which makes you wonder how much more difficult the bosses would be if the game wasn't rushed out. This game has introduced 2 of my favorites Chizuru and Goenitz
The backgrounds and music in this one are really nice.
Goenitz will always be a monster on that game. BTW, its Ralf Kick. 😅
3:06 I think that was a sign of things to come.
Nice video. I would like to see the rush until the KoF 2k12, specially the KoF 2k11 and the KoF 99. A lot of fun is coming !!
LOL JUSTIN THE FACT THAT YOU USE MATURE BRO. YOU GAINED MY RESPECT THERE FAM
It is great watching Justin play KoF96. Iori is one of my favorite characters. It was a little disapointing that we didn't get to see Justin land Iori's Max Desperation move. Those are always full on extra.
10:07 Goenitz jumping CD ftw 😭😭😭😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The teams in the background was such a nice touch. I hope they bring it back in XV
the "level free" joke made you get a like from me
OG Leona. Goddamn the memories. And it is kind of a waste King's 96 stage hasn't come back. It's a slick design.
The way I beat Goenitz was spamming a close up projectile when he teleported at me. He's still a pain.
What triggers me in every KOF game is the people attending to the grand finals of every tournament.
People in that universe are some kind of masochist or suicidal? I mean, year after year a random disaster happens I those events and some cosplay guy wants to rule the world but no, everyone is like: "Hey, dear. The KOF grand finals gonna be here in town. I just bought tickets. Kids gonna love it.".
What's wrong with them?
I mean it's DBZ logic.
People always in the stadium for tournaments, when it gets blown up every season.
Plus you know, if you survive; you've got a story to tell.
Has no one really asked Justin to play SVC Chaos? Someone really needs to get on that since he’s been on a boss bodying streak for a while.
Hit by that leprechaun kick lol... If you want a insane challenge Fatal Fury Special Hardest difficulty but be prepared to invest your soul and forget about fighting the secret end boss Ryo
Those flying German Suplexes from Krauser was pretty tight not gonna lie. 😂
7:40 comeback ! Lol now let s get the real cheapness and hug damage and infinite supers ! 😛
Psycho soldier's theme is just great !!
96 Goenitz is a problem.
justin vs. the nitz.
i will pray for you, justin.
Bro, Mature’s CD attack is broken. I love this game so much. Greetings from Mexico, Justin.
Goenitz being, Goenitz, or Gonutz in Max terms, lmao. Good work!
"wait, where's my cancel?!"
What you standing up for? - Goenitz probably
Don't be afraid of the truth. Take it, and grow from it's lessons.
10:06 before I resume the video ! The surprise is coming since it s a CPU
10:06
Aw, tha's sum BOOL SHYET!
It took until KOF 2002 for a KOF game to be better than KOF 1996 imo, obviously a big turning point and one of the best games in the series, I consider this game the blueprint for what KOF would become and remain until this day.
Kof96 is beautiful and defined the style that would become synonymous with the KOF series. But the game itself is terribly unbalanced. Look at Robert or Mature, every special move is safe, you can spam Robert's "tatsumaki" all day and the opponent cant counter. The best KOF for competition is 98 in my opinion. Other than f*king Iori, the game is relatively balanced and really competitive.
Are u kidding me?
Kof 98 was way better than kof 2002
What if you, wanted to go the heaven, but god say... KOKOUDESUKA!!
Im always happy to see Mature gameplay honestly
I remember getting to this boss a few times when I played this at the arcades. Maybe I'm confusing him with a different one but I remember some characters easily laming him out. But it's been ages, literally when the game was new so I am not sure. I mostly played 98 and Rugal there could definetely be lamed out with a few characters.
Ah... classic Goneitz.... spamming that super grab.....
Kusotare

Still wana see you fight the kof 2001 boss if you have the guts
