I’m 57 and just recently came to the realization that there is not really any way to save capitalism. As long as profit is the motivation, we will be constantly fighting against corporations. Regulations won’t work, greed will always win out in the end. We must move past this power over paradigm.

'As long as profit is the motivation'. It's all about profit. Its only profit. That's the whole point of capitalism. If it wasn't about profit, it wouldn't be capitalism.

In 2014, I went with a group to Israel/Palestine. Our tour guide was a Christian Palestinian. Our bus driver was Muslim. In addition to the usual sights, we met with Palestinian mission partners (UCC). Going through the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem was one of the most painful time in my life. By then I knew from first person accounts that the Zionist were doing everything to the Palestinians except for gas chambers that had been done to the European Jews. I became active in the pro Palestine movement and lost friends from high school who saw my Facebook posts during the war with Gaza that followed that visit. These friends went back to the late 50’s and 1960. One had been schooled by our diplomatic institution to know that ALL Arabs hate ALL Jews. Logic tells us that can’t be true, but his belief trumped my experience. As you know, Zionism is a political view and Christians were an easier sell than Jews back in the beginning. I am in my 80s and still learning so I agree with you.

Journies take time and it is filled with peeling back your biases and preconceived notions. Now is a great time to reach out to others and abandon this purity testing. We cannot expect to have class solidarity and community or a more progressive culture if we just shut every single person who might not be "quite there yet". I hope this guy takes these critiques and criticisms and reexamines his beliefs.

But I think it was because she didn't appear remorseful. She didn't own her part in giving that madman power to destroy lives. Someone said they couldn't praise someone for becoming a descent human being, it's the bare minimum. I felt that, but now...I think we need to. We bake metaphorical cookies when white guys say "omg, this privilege thing is real and i have a lot of changes to make!" This is the second video in a row of yours I'm watching where I have to challenge what you're saying. I find myself in a period of time where I definitely don't belong with the Republican party, they disgust me, but I have a few major bones of contention with the Democratic party also. I am 57 and I have been a Democrat since the very first time I registered to vote and in spirit for years before it. I am also partially of Jewish descent. My mother was a Jewish girl from Brooklyn, New York. For years of my life, I fought off the connection to my Jewish ancestry. I think some of this may have been because there was some subconscious antisemitism that I felt, even growing up in New York City. We're Jewish people are more plentiful than they are anywhere else in the country. But more so, because my father wasn't present, and I wanted to feel more connected to him, so what I knew about his ancestry became a lot more important to me. I also had a real problem with the fact that it seems like almost every Jewish holiday, except maybe Sukkot, I cannot think of another one, seems to be some commemoration of some time the Jewish people were suffering, enslaved, surviving poverty and lack. I was living a life with more than enough poverty snd lack already, and wasn't really interested in carrying it forward. However, one thing that you don't escape, usually, when you grow up Jewish, even secularly Jewish, unless your parents are truly self-hating Jews, and have not encouraged you to be aware of the struggle of your own people, is growing up very educated about the history.
I am beyond disgusted with hearing you describe Zionism the way that you are. It seems to me that there is a lot of history that you and people who think like you do not know, and you don't want to know it, because if you knew it, you might have to change your minds about who to hate. Magnum mistake about it, your anti-Zionist attitude is a mask for antisemitism. And no, it doesn't matter that there is some Jewish people who are self hating enough to be on that side. They are being pick-me Jews. You don't have good information and you're supporting terrorists. The Palestinians had every opportunity to live on their share of the land, which was significantly more plentiful than it is now, in peace. Five days after the official origination of Israel, they decided together with four other nations to attack. When people go to war, and they lose, they lose people, and they lose land. And they have persisted in the same ever since, often terrorizing the whole world for their own grievances, with the terrorist of other Arab nations joining them. Meanwhile, there you and refugee fund receives more money than anyone else's on Earth.
I don't have sympathy for people who act violent and war like, create their own problems, and then, when you show up to say, "If that's how you want to play it, that's how we're going to play it, because our people have been slaughtered enough, and now it's over." Somehow you defending yourselves makes you go from victim to perpetrator apparently. Why because it's real stronger. Yes Israel is stronger. That means it's a dumb fight to pick.
In this country, Jewish people have more often than not been strong supporters of the democratic party but when we take this position, we force Jewish people into alliances with Republicans, or at the very least we force them to Hayton abuse, the wrong kind, or to feel completely politically homeless.
I believe that the only reason there's a large faction of the Democratic Party making this choice in alliances is because we are in a time where we are racially obsessed, and we equate Jewish people with white, and Palestinian people with brown, and people are projecting our own experience of white and black on that situation.
It is both simplistic and inaccurate. On Malcolm Nance's RUclips channel he's got two videos on the history of this region. He is former CIA. He was stationed in that part of the world for a long time. He knows what he's saying. Go check it out please.

I have been making the analogy for so long that so many people expect members of society to jump from inventing the gramophone all the way to inventing current smart phones with streaming apps. Most people are not going to be able to jump that far ahead without knowledge of player pianos, jukeboxes, record players, Walkman, CDs, MP3 players and everything else that got us to where we are with modern music playing devices. It's unrealistic to go from point A to point Z without all the other letters.

The first time I voted, I went to the Republican side, just to go against my parents, because their point of view was shoved down my throat. They were deep Dems (think 60's and 70's type Dems) and then they went independent. Unless you have people in your life who offer both sides, allow you to speak and explore, to deep dive on politics, a LOT of young people just make a choice, mostly out of lack of understanding. As I've grown older and experience life, my views have changed tremendously. My son voted for the first time this past election and I allowed him his space to think for himself. He asked a lot of questions, looked at the bigger issues and reviewed both sides. I don't know who he voted for but I know he is on his journey and I trust he is making good decisions, based on how he treats other humans and how he speaks.

One of the most important things you can do in deconstructing is to Sit In Your Discomfort. So when the pile-ons happen on SM (where criticism descends into the worst definition of "cancel culture" or brigading), they actually act *counter* to the real work of deconstructing because they seek to push people to publicly embrace a shift in speaking that they haven't yet had a chance to understand or back up with a shift in thinking. And that may not sync with the understanding they actually come to. It's social engineering, but it's thin and ends in a society where a select few end up dictating acceptable public speech, but no one has done the real work in getting through the thought process behind it, and therefore the real change in action and policy never happens because everyone is stopped at speech.

@Parkrose Permaculture I am an older person & a parent. My issue with your approach to this, is that what age do you think a person should reach before they face the full consequences of their actions & words? Where is the motivation to self reflect if you can still reap the benefits of your chosen path, no matter what your attitudes are.
I grant you that twenty-five is still young & I would hope that we all still develop/ed more after that age, but that development in large part comes from experiencing not just the positives in life but also the negatives when appropriate. I understand that in your country twenty-five is old enough legally for everything short of running for presidency, so I would suggest this young man doesn't need to be infantalised by any extra considerations for his already privileged life. If people choose to unsubscribe to his platforms then maybe it's simply because they are not happy to give their support to someone who has such offensive opinions when it comes to the lives of certain others. It's not as if this is just a difference of opinion on something superficial. Regards from Scotland.

It seems to me that one can have an epiphany - a revelation - in a moment, but then you need time to let the new thoughts settle and fit into a logical framework, and eventually become a truly held belief.

Heres to his and all of our continued positive healthy growth and evolution. What we learn today will make us who we are tomorrow. Its all about the lessons...and the teacher..and student.

I’m conflicted over the idea of Zionism. On one hand, I know how much violence Israel’s establishment has caused Palestinians. On the other hand, learning about the history of Jewish persecution all over Europe and the Middle East has made me more inclined to believe that maybe Jews do need a place they can escape to. As someone who’s lgbt, witnessing the crack down globally on us makes me wish I had a homeland that would welcome me no matter what. It’s a conflicting situation for me

I've been Leftist (American version) for 45ish years? 2 things I know about Leftists... Usually my harshest attacks come from other Leftists...
-And? "Want 45 different positions on any given policy? Put 6 Leftists together in 1 room..." 🤣😂🤣😂

So my vocabulary is a bit limited and would need to google terms to understand what term refers to what kind of beliefs but the gist to not be abrupt and take time to absorb and analyze before reacting is right. Second not all disagreements are breaking points, though definitely some are. But in the interest of having discussion for common good is the goal.
In a “well sorted world” hopefully we would have fewer varied terms as far as basics like governance and human values are concerned - I think matrix 4 trailer statement “let go back to the matrix” is actually “let’s go back to the basics” - relatable 😅

Life is a journey not a destination. Learning along the way should be the goal. The desire to learn and change is what allows growth, it is a process. I am not the same person I was at 25, 35, 45, or now at 60.

the principle behind progressive ideology is progress. there would be no point to life if it were not for growth. we are all ignorant. that is not a problem as ignorance can be solved through learning. the real problem is persistent ignorance for which there is no remedy 🙂

You're wonderful by the way but no there's more to come ...
    and it's pretty cool.
I'm glad to know You. Know and I'm kind of sad that I probably won't get to know you when you're 70 but I'm glad that other younger people will.
