    I couldn't agree more with maintaining the trails to the stands. All my stands are either on or near my ATV trails. I pull a drag harrow on the trails to work them right down to the dirt. I can then get to my stands silently and with leaving very little scent behind. The deer also tend to walk on my trails and I can learn a lot by the tracks they leave in the dirt.

    I have followed your advice for the last two years. I haven't shot a deer worth bragging about but. I have been seeing more deer for sure. But last year I was bow hunting in the late season in Northern lower Michigan,there was about 8 inches of snow from the night before. An hr after I got to the popup a young 8point walked in in my boot prints. Right to the flap of the popup I wanted to give it to him but I told him maybe next year. But it was surprising

    Reasons such as you mentioned... Is why I like walking up creeks and cutting up to my stand. Simply don’t walk on the deer trail! They smell your boot tracks even when it’s groomed.

    With the hot air shooting down I’ve gone back to my ARMY days and bought elastic blousing bands although I tuck my pant legs in also they usually pop loose as my boots are short in height. But with the elastic bands it really helps to continue to control that down draft fairly well so that I’m not blasting a full blast down on the ground.
    I did this because I got busted big time two years ago as I walked in I heard a noise in the dark. Later up in stand the nice buck was literally sneaking along and sniffing the path I used to walk in I had it mowed but he picked my scent up from my steps. Then reached a point he just stopped and looked around slowly to find me. The wind shifted and off he went. But Sherlock Holmes used his nose to walk my exact parh

Honestly, I been to your website a couple of times, but I been to Other Company website MORE because they send me an email say twice a month on their products, or a PROMOTION, or new video. Just give people the opportunity to OPT OUT OF the email blast campaign. Hope this helps you. 😊

    I take scent control very seriously wash my clothes, often always use field spray and also spray walking to the stand and once I get into the stand my surrounding areas.. last year I killed 3 out of 4 down wind of me and I always try to hunt the wind a lot of the times it doesn’t matter Deer will show up wherever they want… and you will get human odor into the woods all the time. When have you hunted that the wind direction stayed the same way your entire sit that wind will change direction often and even sometimes swirl so it’s always best to try and remain cent free as you can mixed with hunting the wind

  • @buck16
    @buck16 Год назад +1

    Years ago, I set out to prove that scent control wouldn't work. I wanted it to be a fair test, so I went to extremes to the point if anyone knew what I was doing they'd have me committed. My body, my clothes, all my equipment, my boots, the inside of my truck, my climbing tree stand all treated all contained scent free. I was shocked by my results. I repeatedly have mature bucks and does take the same path as me and not be spooked, I repeatedly have mature does and bucks come in downwind of me not spooked. I've had a herd of elk around me 360 degrees within 20 yards milling round not spooked. This system and process I use is expensive and extremely time consuming. But it's worth it to me. I bow hunt every morning of the archery season somewhere so I have a lot of encounters and experiences using my system. I bow hunt deer in 5 contiguous states and multiple Counties in those states and often do across Continent bow hunts for other big game. I'm way beyond obsessive about scent control. When I park my truck, I gargle with mouth wash. Once in the stand I wipe down my hair, my face my neck with scent control and put apple flavored cough drop in my mouth. The cough drop covers my breath but also reduces tendencies to cough. If a cough is coming on, I grab my deer call and cough into the call so it sounds like a deer coughing; yes, deer do cough and sneeze and I've seen and heard them do it.

    • @buck16

      If you don't control the scent in your travel vehicle, your gear, yourself, and all your clothes then products are a waste of money. The products I use (I am not sponsored in any way by any Company) are Scentlok clothes, scentlok tubs, Sportwash for clothes and towels and packs, scentaway bathing soap, scentaway spray, scentaway wipes, scentaway acorn wafers in bow case and arrow storage case and in truck. I use the scentaway spray on everything in my truck, my all rubber boots, including my travel shoes. I use the scentaway wipes on everything I touch in my truck and outside my truck, and in the stand if I've sweated.@@MrCruz9996

    So what do you do if you drive a thousand miles from south florida to illinois to a private farm that you cannot access anytime except to hunt?
    Pre hanging stands and maintaining trails is not an option.
    5 Strand barbed wire and or electric fence surrounds every pasture and you sound like a herd of elephants when you climb through fence to access the timber.
    I've got 8-10 days. Its crazy hilly which I'm not used to(Shawnee national forest) and anti-hunter neighbors prevent any easy hunts near property lines. If they see a blind or tree stand, harassment ensues.
    I'll be there soon for my 5th season of hunting. Zero mature bucks to show for it.
    Tag soup is a yearly feast I get to have lol
    Packing my stuff now for some defeat and disappointment haha
