To be fair I think he explained very well that in Nottinghill carnival it’s often impossible to make arrests. Otherwise they would probably make more arrests than the people for Britain march. They made more arrests at the Britain first type march because there were able to more easily make arrests. It says two very interesting things: 1. Are the police actively targeting certain types of marches? Or are they just able to make more arrests? 2. In which case are they over policing anyway? I don’t think it’s as clear as people want it to be. The main issue seems to be the convergence of issues compressed by the environment of large crowds. So maybe there needs to be some sort of better management of the crowds to reduce the overall pressure and its magnifying effect. The various individual issues, can’t be dealt with on the ground by one police force. They are political and social issues which’s reflect how generally sickly our country is at the moment. As such I would suggest it must be banned or moved to a location where it can be policed more efficiently! This event has run its course & it's time to either stop it, or move to a stadium. With how many have been stabbed & assaulted is utterly disgusting.
Somebody has said to put it into perspective for instance, all football games over a weekend attract the same number of people. Now add 8 stabbings every weekend. What would they do then? Are we saying that 'it's to be expected' that there will be a number of stabbing each year? Or maybe include that in official advertisement for the Carnival, "You'll have a great time at the carnival, just try not to get stabbed!!"
I wonder how many basement front doors and gardens people have urinated on this carnival.

@@didwest1249 First I have heard of that, I haven't been in Hyde Park for 25 years, in those days the parakeets were only in Richmond. The main things then defacing Hyde Park were the exponentially expanding "monuments", most notably the one to Princess Diana, which occupied a lot of space, and the Holocaust Memorial, and certain undesirable people going there after dark.

If you're more concerned about arrests for minor drug offences at Notting Hill Carnival than arson with intent to endanger life at hotels housing asylum seekers, you've probably got a specific agenda.
Is it not obvious that these gangs are using this event to show up in an intimidating manner to rob, peddle drugs, be violent and show their power as a gang and police can’t control it. I respect what your guest is saying but my response is either have extra police that can arrest because they’ve got back up or just stop the carnival as deaths, stabbings, thefts and sexual assaults should not be tolerated.

I stopped going in 84. Am so devastated to see my older generations vision of carnival go to shame ... it lost its meaning from the 80s. I pray everyone gets home safely..
