Her father was Zak Enigmar, a magician in 'Troupe Gramarye', a famous group of professional show magicians run by one Magnifi Gramarye. Then, the old Magnifi, with his health dwindling in a hospital bed, was found dead with a single bullet wound in his head. Zak, being spotted there that night, was suspected of murdering his mentor. His attorney was- surprise surprise- our Phoenix Wright (Though it was previously Kristoph Gavin, that was fired a day before the trial). Trucy, only eight years old, was there in court that day, and unintentionally gave Phoenix some forged evidence (Given to her by Kristoph, but that's a bit of a different story). Long story short, Phoenix tried accusing Magnifi's other pupil, Valant, of the murder instead, and used the forged evidence to prove it when he was cornered. Klavier Gavin, Kristoph's brother and prosecutor for the case, caught him, making Zak about to be declared guilty. But Zak, a magician, did a dissapearing act, and never reappeared (Well... not before he was killed in Turnabout Trump as his alias Shadi Smith). Trucy's Dad Status: Missing, Dead in Absentia, Dead. As for her Mom, we meet her in none other than Turnabout Serenade, 4:3. Her name is Thalassa Gramarye, daughter of Magnifi. Even before Zak's case (Trucy was already born), she was already believed to be dead because of an accident during magic practice. But she wasn't dead, she managed to flee, though losing her memories and being blinded, and married a wandering traveler called Jove Justice, and had a son with him, Apollo. Just as they were performing in Khur'ain, Ga'ran set the place in which they were performing ablaze in order to frame Dhurke Sahdmadhi. Jove died in this incident, but baby Apollo was rescued by Dhurke. Thalassa didn't know this however, and believed her family dead. She turned to performing in bars, and was seeked out for her talent, eventually taking the name Lamiroir and sing along with the Gavinners. At the end of Apollo Justice, Phoenix figures her out and confronts her about it. She tells him she regained her memories and she's finally happy to be alive. He assured her he will tell Apollo and Trucy they are half-siblings in due time. Though he didn't do that yet. Trucy's mom status: Alive, though we don't know where she is now.

Athena's traumatic events are rather to note, since in them she sees herself as a kid, standing horrified in a pool of blood, looking at a sword drenched in blood to the hilt. Later, the swinger is shown to be Simon, colored in negative shades. Athena may have been traumatized enough to repress memories of her involvement, and yet not traumatized enough to conjure up a bloody scene with Simon that was completely untrue. In reality Athena was neither horrified, nor standing in a pool of blood, nor was the katana bloodied to that extent. She didn't even _see_ Simon swinging the sword. Deep down Athena was convinced that she killed her mother, without an ounce of guilt. She knew Simon wasn't guilty and tried to speak out, but her psyche would rather have her memories shut down and start thinking Simon _could_ have killed Metis rather than come to terms with the fact that even if she hadn't killed her mother, she behaved in a way no child should. Athena ended locking away the fact that she wasn't guilty, to lock away the possibility that she was 'guilty' herself, in the process having to lock away fake memories of Simon being guilty in her place, and then was trying to prove that none of them did it _over_ all that baggage. Gosh damn.
That scene, when Phoenix first appears and puts his jacket on. Everything about that scene is perfect... The music, just... EVERYTHING. 100/10, would bang all day, everday.

The cutscene where Edgeworth and Phoenix start the trial, I can't stop hearing T&T's Court Begins. I feel like it fits better but maybe it's just the fact that it's the first time since Phoenix and Edgeworth were on the same case again. God T&T is a masterpiece.
Phoenix Wright Its like they needed to finish the cutscene with that scream but it was late at night so they told the voice actor not to scream too loud xD
That last cutscene always gives me the chills since it speaks volumes in so many ways. It represents the departure of the dark age of the law, Blackquill regaining his freedom and being able to spread his wings, and on top of that, characters with discomforts being able to set them aside and embrace life. The cutscenes in this game were some of the greatest cutscenes in any game I've ever played.
I must be the only one here who actually thinks the voices are somewhat okay ^^; And the cut-scenes are so pretty, it's nice to see Ace Attorney take such a major step up in the art department! This entire game was pretty much amazing.
Why do some people think Phoenix and Apollo's voices should be switched? O.o Phoenix sounds older like he should be. Especially when he says "can you at least give me a reason why?" *sigh* weaboos.

It's not that bad come on. They never fully voiced the characters aside from interjections (with the exception of Phoenix in UMvc3). So you have to hand it to them for trying their best.
The reason people don't pay attention to the melodrama in original Japanese anime is because they don't understand Japanese. At the same time, the Japanese don't necessarily hate it the way we would if people did the same thing in English because they (may) consider (this is just a guess) acting that's too realistic to be boring, or even bad acting. Thing is, that's true of the US, too. If dialogue were 100% realistic, not many people would like it. Even "reality" shows are edited to make the best of the nonsense they're given. People would just not watch a show with 100% realistic acting and dialogues. The closest we come is something like Clerks, and even that's too much for a lot of people.
bobtheduck I've made a similar argument at one point. With an anime that has both English and Japanese voices, people will usually say that the English version is bad because they spent so much time hearing the Japanese voices, and when they go and listen to the English voices, it'll seem like the voices "don't fit." I say that's only because they spent so much time listening to one voice that they've mentally associated that voice with the character, and it is difficult to imagine a different voice for that character. I also said that if one were to spend time with the English voices first, the Japanese voices might sound weird. It's like when a character in a cartoon suddenly get's a new voice actor with a different voice.
I personally think the voices are great. I enjoy watching the cutscenes repeatedly. And the voices do suit their appointed characters, my only nitpick is with Klavier, he's supposed to be German.
More Phoenix Wright! Next year, they're release the English version of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright! But seriously, this NEEDS to be an anime! I mean, it wouldn't be the most rediculous anime out there. Plus, it already has the best quality of any tv-show - making fun of its own parodies.

This game definitely needs an anime adaptation. The only other anime I can think of that is very close to what Ace Attorney does is Case Closed, and if made into a show I bet it can do just as well or even better. It has a nice mix of comedy with seriousness and very good plot twists and concepts, a show would only flesh out the awesomeness that is Phoenix Wright.
The worst part is, I heard Klavier's VA in this has done German accent voices before, and speaks the language. So the fact is clear that they just flat-out didn't bother. For a series that usually takes so much love and care in its localisations, this game... is kind of a let down in at least the voice department. Also there's like A MILLION typos.
My only question: Why did it take Capcom until the FIFTH main installment in the series, to implement something the Professor Layton series has had since its FIRST installment? A game like Ace Attorney practically SCREAMS "MAKE ME INTO AN ANIME!!!!".

In Athena's case, it mentions dismemberment as her mother is murdered and she doesn't know the difference between robots and humans. So, she takes apart her mother, Trying to fix her.
In the final case, the defendant, who is also the new lawyer, is accused of killing her mother when she was 8 years old. That's not why the game is rated M. The game is rated M because during the case, when it is mentioned that she tried to put her mother back together by putting her on a robot repairing/dismemberment machine, a creepy image pops up on screen of 8-year-old Athena covered in blood, grinning eerily, activating the machine while creepy music plays. Also, the 50 Shades of Gray joke may have had something to do with it, but it's probably that other thing.
Athena has her futuristic holographic display, and Phoenix Wright still uses a Nokia 2556?

That last cutscene always gives me the chills since it speaks volumes in so many ways. It represents the departure of the dark age of the law, Blackquill regaining his freedom and being able to spread his wings, and on top of that, characters with discomforts being able to set them aside and embrace life. The cutscenes in this game were some of the greatest cutscenes in any game I've ever played.
I must be the only one here who actually thinks the voices are somewhat okay ^^; And the cut-scenes are so pretty, it's nice to see Ace Attorney take such a major step up in the art department! This entire game was pretty much amazing.
I would so watch this if this was made into an anime series.

It's not that bad come on. They never fully voiced the characters aside from interjections (with the exception of Phoenix in UMvc3). So you have to hand it to them for trying their best.

The reason people don't pay attention to the melodrama in original Japanese anime is because they don't understand Japanese. At the same time, the Japanese don't necessarily hate it the way we would if people did the same thing in English because they (may) consider (this is just a guess) acting that's too realistic to be boring, or even bad acting. Thing is, that's true of the US, too. If dialogue were 100% realistic, not many people would like it. Even "reality" shows are edited to make the best of the nonsense they're given. People would just not watch a show with 100% realistic acting and dialogues. The closest we come is something like Clerks, and even that's too much for a lot of people.

I've made a similar argument at one point. With an anime that has both English and Japanese voices, people will usually say that the English version is bad because they spent so much time hearing the Japanese voices, and when they go and listen to the English voices, it'll seem like the voices "don't fit." I say that's only because they spent so much time listening to one voice that they've mentally associated that voice with the character, and it is difficult to imagine a different voice for that character. I also said that if one were to spend time with the English voices first, the Japanese voices might sound weird.
It's like when a character in a cartoon suddenly get's a new voice actor with a different voice.
I personally think the voices are great. I enjoy watching the cutscenes repeatedly.
And the voices do suit their appointed characters, my only nitpick is with Klavier, he's supposed to be German.

This game definitely needs an anime adaptation. The only other anime I can think of that is very close to what Ace Attorney does is Case Closed, and if made into a show I bet it can do just as well or even better. It has a nice mix of comedy with seriousness and very good plot twists and concepts, a show would only flesh out the awesomeness that is Phoenix Wright.
The worst part is, I heard Klavier's VA in this has done German accent voices before, and speaks the language. So the fact is clear that they just flat-out didn't bother. For a series that usually takes so much love and care in its localisations, this game... is kind of a let down in at least the voice department. Also there's like A MILLION typos.
But neither Klavier nor Kristoph are German by birth. Klavier just went over there for a couple of years to study and get his badge early.
With the way he talks they should have put at least a slight accent 😂 I mean he studied in Germany right? It’s only natural to pick up a slight accent

In the final case, the defendant, who is also the new lawyer, is accused of killing her mother when she was 8 years old. That's not why the game is rated M. The game is rated M because during the case, when it is mentioned that she tried to put her mother back together by putting her on a robot repairing/dismemberment machine, a creepy image pops up on screen of 8-year-old Athena covered in blood, grinning eerily, activating the machine while creepy music plays.
Also, the 50 Shades of Gray joke may have had something to do with it, but it's probably that other thing.
