As a Swede, I can confirm that Ö, Å and Ä is pronpunced Hörken, Flörken and Börken.
All I can hear is the Swedish chef from the muppet show.

As another Swede, I can verify this.
I start calling Å Flörken from this day. I am Finnish and most Finns thinks it is very odd that Å is part of official Finnish alphabets. There just is not a Finnish word with that letter. And we call that letter 'ruotsalainen oo" (Swedish O) so Flörken is much shorter and better name for it. But Ö kan still be Ö and Ä can still be Ä. :)
@@Pehmokettu despite being American, I can explain it. The Republic of Finland has two official languages, Finnish and Swedish. They decided to make both languages use the same alphabet, despite the fact that as you mentioned, Finnish words don't use Å.

to make it less scratchy, turn the SÄND key off. It's on the lower left.
My neighbor worked at Keytronics. He was an old guy that had been out of the company for many years but was an engineer. He told me when he worked there they had a really hard time making the letters and symbols on the keycaps clear and crisp. So he ended up calibrating the machines by making smiley face keycaps. When his boss found out what he was doing on company time they sent him to the higher ups. His boss was pissed off and thinking he would get him fired. But the higher ups were so impressed with the quality of the smiley faces they decided to run a few smiley faces every day to calibrate everything and make sure they would look top tier. And apparently sold the keycaps as well since they did not ship with the keyboards. He was an old guy and a great guy (named my kid after him since he was like a grandfather to me) but I don't know if this story is bull or not but I believe him and I know for a fact he worked at keytronics because his wife took me there to pick him up once when I was a kid. I have never been able to find a smiley face keep cap that was made by keytronics or if if I have no way of proving it was. Just something about keyboard history I thought I would share.
That "HACKA LÖKEN" felt like it was pulled straight from a Swedish Meal Time video. Excellent.

@@Spidapida006 Tempting, but then you lose the sound and the horrible scratchiness and binding from hell. Maybe it's comparable if you use it to type on a cactus, though.

Lots of people comment on how nice your voice sounds, but I just found out that it’s provable. Your voice is so smooth that RUclips transcribes your voice to captions nearly perfectly.

Is there any modern battleship keyboards currently in production? I might have found a market gap that I should fill.
Some time ago I got a Keytronic foam and foil board, 'Professional Series KB 101' and decided to put it in the rotation. I don't know if it's just in really good condition but believe it or not, it's not bad. It's very smooth and no scratchiness or binding at all. On the other hand there's nothing that's going to make me pine for it when the week or so is up. Any way, your efforts are much appreciated Tom.
I LOVE the colors on the alternate Keytronic foam and foil board shown starting at 6:24. The green and red remind me of the old Teletype Model 28 keyboard. Anyone know if these colors are available in a current set? Beautifully retro...

The layout and Godmode macro possibilities of this board almost make me want to get one and swap the hardware with something usable.

anyone know why so many keyboards have an ABS spacebar and all the other keycaps are PBT?
PBT shrinks at a different rate from ABS. If you don't know how to compensate for this, this can result in large caps warping during manufacture.
You'll have to try a low profile F&F board that's in good shape. The one in my Compaq portable doesn't bind, and isn't scratchy. The one on my Wang PC is also not scratchy, I think it has the high force rubber sleeves in it.
Has anyone used molykote EM-30L? is it really better than cheap plastic gear grease from china?
How do these switches do with lube? 🤔
On the bottom row, on either side of the spacebar, why did Keytronic decide to step those keys?
It looks like it's an eighth of the unit on either side that is stepped. Why bother? Either an off-center keypress matters or it doesn't.

I wonder what Chyrosran would think of the Logitech G213 Prodigy Keyboard. Its a membrane keyboard meant to mimic a Cherry mx Brown, and I thought it was a linear keyboard lol.
Indeed it's built like a battleship, my boss at work has one of these keytronic boards. Except the one he's been using for the last 27 years has rubber domes with sliders. He once told me it cost 5000sek to buy back in '94. Cheers from Sweden

Does anyone know what the SS key is for? On a standard Swedish keyboard you would find ' and * on that key as printed on the side of this one.
It's probably just a macro for double S, in the same fashion as the double zero on some numpads

SS is common in Swedish, but it's more likely to be for ß (the German double-s letter).

I don't remember "low"-profile KT foam-and-foil to be _that_ bad. The worst was the mushiness. Did they use bad plastics and forgot to lubricate or something?

On the subject of scratchiness, I thought my MX Brown loaded Corsair K70 wasn't scratchy....then I got myself an iGK61 and loaded it with Kailh BOX Whites (and a GMMK, which I put BOX Jades into). Now the Corsair feels like it's practically filled with sand.
