You have a new fan. First saw your rendition of Amazing Grace and subscribed. As you are hearing loud and clear, we love your voice. I am the exact opposite of you. I have been a Christian all of my life and considered being a nun, too polite. As I shared your video I wrote sometimes it takes a man like you to make us see. God is using you. We could tell you felt that song. It was so powerful and emotional.

I agree@carolynharwood. I was raised full on Christian, with a father AND grandfather preaching in this church. It was my world as I knew, until my dad died when I was 11 years old. Then I went off kilter. This music has always been close to my heart, and I full on weeped when I heard this version of Amazing Grace!!! I had listened to about 15 of Dan’s songs, without subscribing to his channel, until Amazing Grace!❣️❤️🙏🏼😘‼️

@@kaye_dee_did- Yes, it’s become so common, and some people don’t realize that it’s blasphemy, especially new Christians who weren’t raised in a Christian household. I’ve sometimes lovingly explained to others what it is.

@@kaye_dee_did Yes! I was surprised by that, too, since he's done religious covers so beautifully. Today, I was listening to a sermon by Jack Hibbs and he was saying that if he is at a movie and they say "Jesus" or "Jesus Christ" in vain, he follows up with "Is Lord!" out loud. Crack me up. I was doing a task while listening to this video and when he said, "Jesus Christ," I paused, then said, "Is Lord." I'm going to start doing that!

I also fight cancer and let that take my JOY away until I realized what am I doing to myself. Why should I let sadness dominate me. I made a choice no matter what happens in my life I’m going to choose JOY. yes I have down days but so much easier to pull out of that. My purpose is to spread that JOY which comes with my relationship that comes of Jesus Christ. ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏😃😄😁

The one thing I relate the most to is the sentence: "They are just feelings". Feelings only matter as much as you let them. Once aware of this, you can prioritize them. Like me listening to the Amazing Grace cover; I just let the feelings do their thing. Then I repeat. When my son of 19 months is being an asshole for hours on end, I suppress my feelings, because I know nothing good will ever come out of the frustration and anger I feel, and they cannot be allowed to have ANY hand in my decisions, or my son would be injured and I would be in prison. Positive and negative emotions, they will pass eventually, and how you handle them is paramount. Let the good ones loose, and beat down the bad ones. As mentioned in the video, you CAN train yourself to do this, although only negative and uncomfortable emotions were mentioned. You can do positive ones too. I do it by repetition and recollection, but I'm sure there are more ways.

Your agreeableness score is common among successful artists. You are very strongly goal oriented. You are self employed. These two things are very common and explain that drive. You are fairly enthusiastic or you wouldn’t be attempting to be a rock star. You still enjoy performing from home. You are very assertive or you would not be willing to put yourself out there. You also would not be willing to change or drive yourself. You are constantly trying to improve yourself and increase your abilities. I find this one of the things to respect about you the most. You have trained yourself to become conscientious. It’s something to be proud of. Your family should be proud of you too. As a mom, I’m proud of my boys. I’m so happy for you. Honestly you have inspired me to do a few things myself. The rule thing correlates exactly like you think. My youngest is the same. My husband does that too. They are fine setting their own rules. They are not ok following rules just because. What you did, how you identified faults and deliberately set out to eradicate faults, make you something to respect and someone to admire. Congratulations on your hard work.

After that I just fell right into a slump and wound up working a terrible job I hated just to pay bills. It was around that time I started getting into people like Dr Peterson and I even saw him live with Dave Rubin and Candace Owens a few years ago when he was talking about 12 Rules for life. It would still be about another year until I started getting better but I eventually quit that job, got a better one, met a great girl, and I’m in a much better place now. Man when you were talking about orderliness and politeness (around 17:35), it reminded me of an experience I recently had.
In my country, New Zealand, we have a youth development course run by the New Zealand Defense Force and the Ministry of Social Development. It's a six week long course that aims to get people between the ages of 18 - 24 (although there are certain exceptions for people who are 17 or 25) ready for employment with a wide variety of employment related skills such as writing CV's and cover letters, job interview skills, and so forth, all while getting a taste of the military lifestyle (minus the weapons and combat training, which makes a lot of sense when you consider that a lot of the trainees come from backgrounds where there is a lot of drugs, violence, and organized crime). I went on the course at first to see if I could get my foot in the door for the Royal New Zealand Navy, since I'd been medically declined due to an old injury that still troubles me occasionally. I had to shift my perspective on this about halfway through the course when the doctor told me that I needed to get my injury revisited and fixed properly before the Navy would even look at my application again.
Anyway, on to the important part of the annecdote.
In my Platoon, we had a junior NCO - a Leading Marine Technician (Propulsion) - who had the catch phrase 'don't run your own routine.'
I swear, the whole lot of us twenty eight trainees from 1 Platoon who graduated were absolutely sick of hearing 'don't run your own routine.'
We heard in during drill. We heard it during CT (Corrective Training, supposedly not a punishment, but it sure as hell felt like it!). We heard it when we were being chewed out for missing timings and being late. We heard it A LOT!
Running your own routine is being non-compliant with higher authority, preferring to do things your way no matter the consequences.
you really do seem to run your own routine, Dan. Not that that's a bad thing in your context.
The other thing I remember vividly was something my Platoon Commander - a Chief Petty Officer who started his career as a medic before changing trades to become a PTI - said as he was ripping strips off me for not making my bed in time.
he said to me, "Van Steel, you want to be a Weapon Engineer Officer in the Navy, right?"
"Yes, Staff." I answered as I ran around like a headless chicken, trying to get the hospital corners on my pit just right.
"Weapon Engineer Officers have one of the most important roles in the Navy. During combat or combat training exercises, the Weapon Engineer Officer takes command of the ship. They are responsible for the safety of everyone on board." Chief explained, continuing to chew me out for not meeting the standard.
"Do you know what an officer does, Van Steel?" Chief asks.
"He meets the standard, Staff!" I answer.
"He SETS the standard." Chief corrected.
It was that moment that became the biggest kick up the arse I've ever had in my life. How could I be expected to do well in my dream job - a job with an absolutely monumental amount of responsibility - where I have to be reliable enough to set the standard, when I couldn't even meet the standard expected of me during a watered down version of military life?
You seem to absolutely loathe doing what other people tell you to. you'd be what the staff at the Limited Service Volunteer course would call 'non-compliant' at times. You'd definitely get CT a lot for running your own routine.
However, you're extremely conscientious and assertive, and it makes me wonder what you (as you are now) would be like as a commissioned officer, setting the standard rather than meeting someone else's. The Brazilian Army lost something valuable when they let you go after your compulsory service, Dan.
    Their loss, our gain.
To anyone who's read this far,
    1) cheers, mate. you're a bloody legend!
    2) wtf, man! go watch more of Dan's videos!

I am assertive and been nominated as the leader in my class when graduated from that in my forties. I had not seen myself as a leader, but then realized actually that I am. I am quick to make decisions. I am quick to act, and I do so with authority and taking charge especially in a crisis moment. By that I mean someone having a heart attack a seizure being a burn victim, and I will jump into action, take charge rendered and get further assistance while barking out orders. I am also very curious now about this personality test. I am in my late 60s now. I just discovered you on RUclips a few days ago and I have gone down the rabbit hole on RUclips of listening to your music. I have shared your music with quite a few people in the last few days. Peterson is a gem for insight in how to honestly evaluate strength and weaknesses of where you are in your growth potential. Congratulations on taking steps to modify your traits to a more successful mind set. Rest assured that your father would be proud of the determined force for your goals you have become. After all you have reach a fandom of people who have never enjoyed metal performances until you came along. I’m a HUGE Jorden Peterson fan and am glad that you are. I fell in love with your rendition of Amazing Grace and your overall talent. It’s encouraging that you were able to actually change some of your personality characteristics through discipline. Your empathy seems low, almost psychopathic, but what matters is what you do more than what you feel or don’t feel. I do, however, have the highest respect of your amazing talent and discipline and wish you success and happiness.

Could he be on the autism spectrum perhaps with his lower empathy? I’ve seen this often with musicians and very talented people. Our grandson is on the spectrum, and he’s low empathy for others ( with lots of empathy for himself) but he’s also talented.

I pray that you genuinely allowed those lyrics pierce your heart and are walking daily with Jesus Christ - the One you were singing about. I am a singer as well who has lost my ability due to vocal tremors - praying He will restore it, as I love to worship. May His peace abound in your heart as you seek Him.

You may wish to try the book Personality Plus by Florence Littauer, which also has a personality test in it. I found it to be more accurate and far less negative in tone when discussing personality weaknesses as well as tips for improvement. It also helped me deal with other people by simply noticing that what's in that person that's driving me crazy is simply a part of their personality and not that person going out of their way to be difficult.

Keep flying high and straight with your amazing discipline and perceptions, a shining example for all. Another life lesson learned, be careful for what you ask for. You are on the trajectory for greatness shared with the inspirations of Eric Adams, Jon Bon Jovi, Steven Tyler, Pavarotti...etc and further. You're proof 'where much is given, much is asked'. Big Hello to Brazil from little old England! I am here from Friday Night Tights! .... Anyway my Dad died last year from cancer. He was bed ridden from an amputated leg. He also had bowl/stomach cancer so he could not eat. I watched him starve to death. I did my best to "step up" to the man who raised me. I tried my best to be the strongest person at his funeral. Jordan was right on that front. Nonetheless I will always remember my beautiful father's last words to me "You did good girl". X x

Back again: Dan, I really like that you showed that these tests are not infallible and they are subject to a lot of learning and habit change and immediate circumstance. Any test is just a snapshot and these also have questions on them that have a lot of surface validity so that a persons conscious/defended/coping mind can actually cheat on them if they’re not careful.

I thought about this as soon as I remembered who it was.
He says some controversial stuff, but he also has a fringe following whose beliefs get attributed to be his ideas.
It's funny that there is a strong cultural shift about what it means to be a dude and how we should act. But there's very little about how to change from what we were exposed to as a definition of masculinity.
Then when someone focuses on self help or self evaluation for men they catch hell for being "exclusionary".

@@mr.farrowsclass6592 he doesn’t say controversial stuff. Everything he says he backs it up with evidence. For example his interview with the British lady. He said “a company can go 50-50 women and men engineers, but you can’t do that on a wide scale because there aren’t 50-50 engineers it’s more like 90-10.” That’s not controversial
