I like how you separate the steps into different videos. So if someone doesn’t want to add basket weave to the holster, they can skip it, but also if they want to basket weave something else, they can go to that video without having to skip through the first parts.
This is just great! The first project for 2019 is a holster, and I have a gun without one! Lol, Chuck I hope you and yours had a fantastic Christmas and new year's. Thanks for all your hard work and tips!👍👍
I made this holster and overall love it but I have one critique on the design. The belt loop is too narrow. With the weapon in the holster the belt loop can't hold the holster steady enough -- it rides sloppy/flops around too much when hiking over terrain. The holster wobbles and bangs against your leg and eventually rubs too much. If you add a leg tie at the bottom it should help. As a result I made a second holster, same design as this one but I made a fold over belt loop 2.5 inches wide at the top where it hangs on the belt. Now it feels much more stable. However if you do change your belt loop to make it wider it requires a redesign of the strap. I had to cut a hole in the belt loop and feed the strap through it in order to have that strap over the top of the gun. Wish I could post a photo to show as it's much easier that way than trying to describe. I see why he did what he did here for simplicity but be aware if you are taking your gun to the field and plan on wearing it all day it is going to wobble quite a bit.
Awesome video, as usual, Chuck. I've learned a ton from your videos. Can we apply these instructions to other gun models? Are there 3D print files out there? Seems like finding 3D files for blue guns are a challenge to find.
He said “Easy Enough” so much I made my first holster! Well...it’s more of a coffee cup holster. Okay...it’s a coaster and it’s not even round. 😑. Honestly, my daughter and I have a date to try this out.
Good series of video's Chuck. When you line up the top of the gun (on its side) with the line drawn with the gun on its top side are you lining up on the top of the sights or the top of the slide?
Great explanation of template making. I carry a 1911 cocked and locked so that retention strap wouldn't work for me, I'd want it between the hammer and slide not over the grip safety. That's an easy adjustment to make in the pattern though.
I saw this awesome video today and I’m going to buy some products right now! Im going to surprise my brother with a cool python pattern holster for his Colt Python!
I loved this video and my holster turned out perfect. I’ve been asked to make another one with a paddle instead of a belt loop. Do you know where I can purchase it?
Hi Virginia, Thanks so much, glad the holster turned out good! I don't have a specific place I can recommend for the paddle but I did a quick online search and there are lots of options to choose from!
Incredible that these videos are free! Thanks Chuck!
This is Fantastic! this guy needs to narrate everything in life. Makes everything seem possible.
Agreed.

Thank you, I'm glad the videos are helpful when separated out! We did it for that exact reason so you can skip ahead if needed. Thanks for watching!
Wow, what an excellent teacher and video. Perfect timing, narration, camera work and linear learning.
Thank you sooo much and subscribed!!!
Excellent and informative. And thanks for not wasting leather.
I'd love to see a video series on the western gunbelts from the back wall of the shop
That’s one I have wanted to do for so long! We have that on the list and will look forward to making a beautiful rig!
Your shop is bad ass !!! Thanks for the tutorials !!!!!!
Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing the info on pattern making. You folks at Weaver are top notch.
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you!
Chuck is the best.
Way better tutorial than most others
Great Videos. Great instructor. Chuck seems to have the gift of motivating you to want to make something. Give the man a raise!! Make more videos!!
Thank you, Ed! We'll make sure he's well taken care of 😊
Great video Chuck thanks for the tips and techniques
Thank you, Bud!
Just finished my first holster and it turned out great
So happy to heat that!!
Very nice holster
Luv this guy!

Thanks so much! That's great that the video came just in time for you to make a holster for your gun! Have fun with it!
Great video, I was wondering what size Chicago screws you used. Thank you.

Great project thank you for the instruction. Can you do a video on how to make a molded pancake style holster? Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
Hi there,
We will add that to our list, thanks!
Thank you

Are there any different steps to do this with a revolver?
probably just a different pattern i think

So how'd it go?
I swear this guy sounds like R. Lee Ermey, just a mellowed out version of Ermey!

Will this work for a revolver with plans to make a Mexican Loop and how do you adjust for the cylinder of a revolver and the ejector for the shells?
joel heffelfinger I am looking for Chucks answer on the revolver mod to the pattern also.
Is the strap half an inch? It appears to be about half the width of the belt loop... Is this correct?
Hi there, sorry we failed to give those dimensions in the video! The strap is 5/8” wide.
@@WeaverLeatherSupply Thank you Sir!

Very nice! We hope it turns out great!
how about a vidieo about using rawhide as a liner for a holster
Careful Chuck, you're risking being demonetized.
Glad you did the holster.
Why? This is not a live chat.
Do you ha e a video like this for a revolver? Maybe a 38 or a 357?
Hi Marvin,
We do not have any other holster videos at this time but, we can pass on the suggestion!
What do you do if you have an optic ( mini red dot)
Do they sell the gun at weaver
2/3 ounce for the liner but I missed if you said what the main body was? 5/6 ounce?
The main body is made of 7/8 oz. 👍
Mckenon Abreu main body was 7/8 oz

Hey Chuck! Can you add a pancake holster to your long list of videos to do?
Did I miss the length of the belt loop? 1" wide x ? length.
I slowed the video to 1/4 speed- looks like 8 1/2"
Chuck, what must I change on the pattern in order ti make a REVOLVER holster (with the wider cylinder)?
this guy is as happy about leather as larry potterfeild is about guns
Ill probably make mine out from Cardboard, paxkinf tape and finish it with Batman smybol duct tape. Classic
Sounds like Harry Carry
You should make a rifle holster that would be great
Is that a CZ 75?
1911 A1
👍😉
Well I'm making one for my luger it's a ww2 Luger
Frustrating not being able to see the lines and marks.
My drawing looks more like a five year old scribbles. I will just buy a holster...
i cringe every time i see him cutting right towards his finger. It takes me back when i gashed my finger open when a box cutter slipped... ouch.
Ouch, that sounds very painful!
