    This is SUCH a useful, comprehensive list! I think many people can still be understood by using 個 when they don't know a more specific counting word, but it is good to use these more specific counting words. I think an important takeaway is that there is some flexibility in terms of which counting words are used sometimes, so hopefully people won't stress too much as they practice.

    A very informative and entertaining video 👍.
    Another measure word that might be useful is fu (幅), that is usually used for painting (e. g. 一幅畫).
    I find measure words both amusing and confusing. For example, one can argue that a street/road is flat, so the measure word that should go with road/street is 張. However, the correct measure word (as shown in the video) is 條, which is also used for 命(lives/souls), e. g. 一條命. And to confuse things further, I sometimes find that 條is also used for animals, e. g. 一條狗.

    Hi, Im Peter
    my chinese gf from Liaoning province gave me a chinese name 吴熙川 do you think it is a good name? i asked local people and they said it is a cool name, btw her name is 吴俊瑶, and i firstly spoke a standart mandarin and now i normally use northern dialect naturally by talking to her, it is also good for a it's also good for communicating with her parents who require me to speak mandarin (because they dont speak english)
    I am a student from Czech Republic ( Europe) studying on highschool in 营口市 and i wanna study on Beijing University with my gf in the future.
    Once i heard chinese girls about my skin like "look, his skin is so white" it is quite funny that they dont know i can speak chinese sometimes. we will have a wedding (at 27) so i studied many chinese traditions now about wedding, anyway the think chinese girls has and Europians doesn't is 撒娇, i really like it haha because it is very cute and if Europians do it it is a bit cringy, but i think in China it is quite common, in the future i want to build our own school which contains learning various languages, (i personally speak 27 languages now)
    because i dont like when people use translators and also translators aren't always right.🤔
    Anyway i live in China just for two years now and i have traveled to a lot of destinations in China, and learn how to cook for example 重庆火锅, 饺子 and other famous chinese dishes😁
    We met on one language app "Hellotalk" then she added me on Wechat and using real time location i came to her place in China and visited her
    we are sharing all together, same phone, matching clothes (we have a special couple sweatshirt that can be attached to another sweatshirt with a hood, so we can kiss on the street like this like we will zip up our swearshirts so nobody cant see us kissing haha)
    by the way my profile picture is her

    I like to learn the measure words but also to compare the simplified and traditional characters here. Also, you are the only person I know that uses that writing style that you put over the traditional characters, is it popular somewhere? Or do you think it could be? I would actually be interested in a video about that since it looks very logical with characters representing sounds and the tone character at the end of every word.

    A question about the measure word for dogs, someone explained to me that you can also say 一条狗 instead of 一只狗 because when you look down at your dog, it's long and narrow. Is that true, and does it only apply to dogs and not other animals?

    • @GraceMandarinChinese
      @GraceMandarinChinese  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, as I mentioned in the video, a noun might be used with different measure words depending on the image the speaker wants to convey and personal preferences. So yes, you can also say 一条狗, and 条 can also apply to other animals that are considered long, like 蛇 (snake), 魚/鱼 (fish), and 龍/龙 (dragon).
