I’d love to see you and Grace collabing! Doing each others workouts/runs or something fun together like that😍
Got myself the Hoka Clifton 6 that you recommended last year.Just started running again after the Compartment Syndrome Op and they seem really supportive and comfortable so thanks for that, great vid as usual👍🏼
This is so helpful, thank you! I'm doing a100k running challenge this month, so I understand the importance of good winter running kit!
Super helpful Flora, thank you!
Not gross and abnormal haha. I definitely need to clear my nose as soon as I run and especially cycling. I partially close both nostrils with my fingers and just blow through it. Glad I am not the only one.
Waterproof trailrunners have been a lifesaver for me here in Wales!
This was soooo helpful thank you Flora! The amount of detail you went into was great 🤩 re. The snot rockets - I’m with you! I find I need to do them even more when cycling 🤧 xx
Hahah yes it's definitely a cycling thing too!
Love this, great tips
Love 2XU, they are pricey but if you shop around you can often find them in the sale, I picked some compression ones up for £30! I also like the ‘more miles’ running top with half zip, its very reasonably priced.
Just been running in -3 temperatures, this video came at the perfect time! 🥶
Eeeeek! We were lucky today with 1 whole degree 😂
We call it the Farmer Blow, and I do it all the time whether people see or not.
Super helpful, thank you so much!
Love your videos and your shoes look in the same state as mine - great to see a running kit video where you obviously wear the kit to death. X
Great video! This is my first winter trying to run outside in the snow and ice. I have a treadmill on the way, but I'd still love to do occasional runs outside, and your examples of complete outfits was helpful. And yes, I snot rocket... badly. Lol I usually wind up wiping the resulting mess on my sleeve/glove.
So happy you found it useful! 😊 ahahah yeah it takes some getting used to 😂 happy running 🏃♂️
Loved this video Flora. Kit is so important great to hear your thoughts v in-depth. I struggled so much with bras and finally found Elomi via Bryony Gordon and can now run everywhere. I also wear mostly gear from a brand called Boudavida they are really good so far. P.s treated myself to Columbia Montrails can't wait til they arrive 😊
Ah yes good bras for bigger books can be so hard to come across! I love boudavida from what I've seen so far (I used to have a top and leggings from them) but never used them for running! Happy training 🤗
Happy New Year Flora, Decathlon do excellent value waterproof running trousers specced for fell races which pack down really small and are handy for heavy rain or extra warmth. I'm a fan of gilets both fleece and windstopper, they pack down smaller than sleeved tops, and give more options for regulating temperature. I have some Yaktrax ice show grips if I think there might be ice about but never used them yet so I don't know how good they are! I'm a runny nose wiper btw :)
All great tips, thanks for sharing! Love decathlon- I could get lost in there forever 😍
Thank you so much for this video! I was running half marathons every weekend, but as soon as the winter hit (I live in the Mid Atlantic, USA), I switched to indoor running because I couldn't think of a way to withstand the cold.
This video is giving me hope that I can reclaim the joy of outdoor running once again! There is nothing like running outside and I miss it!
Thanks again. I really appreciated hearing all your recommendations and also watching how you wear all the gear. Very helpful.
Can't wait to give this a try and get out there again!! ❤
So happy to hear this and enjoy the running!! 🙌🏼 hope you find some gear warm enough and stay safe! 🤗
I don't do the snot rocket, purely because I'm certain it would land on myself if I tried.
I try to bring a handkerchief or just wipe on my sleeve. Definitely do feel more self-conscious about snot and coughing with the whole pandemic going on...
Hahaha yes that's definitely a possibility! And yeah totally agree, I usually do it on trails, not when anyone's around!
Great video! I got a new pair of the asics winterised leggings this year and they are super cosy, I also find tops with the waffle fabric (I don't actually know what its called but its bumpy to trap the heat, soft & breathable) to be the warmest in winter! Totally true about the amount of snot when running, I can't say I do the "snot rocket" because the area where I run is way too busy but I do hide tissues in any pockets available/in my sports bra! Also I'd love to see a collab with Holly Rush
Oh yes waffle fabric (i think that's exactly what it's called!) is great - I have one top with it too 🤗 Will defo see what Holly think about this!
Fantastic thanks here in sonerset been chilly n will definitely check out ur clothing as very useful 😊😊😊😊😊
I bought myself the Patagonia R1 TechFace Hoody and love it. It removes the need for a light rain jacket as it has a water repellent outside. It has kept me warm and dry in light rain, snow and freezing temperatures, can't recommend it enough! I am a fairly new runner and did not dare try the snot rocket yet, but my wife (a seasoned runner) keeps trying to talk me into it, saying every runner does it. So I think it is universal as we live in Germany :-D
I'll have to check this jacket out, thank you for the suggestion! Big fan of patagonia 👏🏼 Ahaha you'll have to try it some day, you'll never look back! 🙈
Thank you for this great video! I was just looking for this sort of info as my shirts are not cutting it for the cold! In regard to the runny nose thing - I have purchased a pair of gloves that have an absorption pad that you can rub your nose on and it absorbs any liquid. Gross but very helpful!
Omg thats so clever!! Totally ingenious 🙌🏼👏🏼
So helpful! I started running in March so I’ve only recently started running when it’s Baltic outside! Also snot rocket all the way 🤟🏻 I guess it is gross but it’s that or a face full of snot the whole run
Ah yay so happy you found it enjoyable! Hahaha yeah exactly, feeling bunged up is the worst on a run 😬
Hey Flora, great video and the new office looks great :). I really like hearing what works for other people and lots of great tips. One of the reasons I’d like to lose more weight is so that I feel less self conscious when I’m running and tighter sports clothes can feel a bit uncomfortable. Have you heard of any advice that others have learnt about brands or things that could help?
I can understand that! Perhaps some other viewers might have some advice for you - I'm afraid I'm not sure about men's clothes much!
Normal ! Leaving it there
😂😂😂
This is so helpful :) Could you mention any safety tips you have for women running at night/in the dark in that video? It’s been a huge roadblock for me and my friends
Yes this is what I'm going to do next! A v important issue 🙌🏼
Omg... I wear trackies to and from races but it's never occurred to me to wear them over the top of my leggings in cold weather!! Genius! I'm also a very cold person and especially get a really cold bum every time (even in thermal leggings and runderwear briefs!)
Hahah oh brilliant, well I hope this top tip helps! Love, another very cold runner 🙈❤
Good vlog. Weather in Ireland is always shit so funnily enough its the warm weather running that i struggle with.
Haha yeah I dont think you're alone with that! Though I always prefer warm runs 🙈
Haha I do the nose thing 🙋🏽♀️ and it is very satisfying! I would say that excess mucus can be a sign of asthma so best to get checked if people are suffering a lot with it
Oh interesting, I didn't know that, thanks!
The ASICS vest does have a space for a water bladder- on the mesh panel on your back at the top you can open the Velcro and there’s a Velcro loop to hold your bladder up and then there’s space to run the tube through to either shoulder! :)
Smart! I think my other one is too big or maybe I just tried wrong 😆 but that's v good to know, thanks!
@@FloraBeverley I can get a 3L bladder in but it is a bit of a squeeze 😅
If you like the Falke socks, you should try the version with merino wool. They keep the feet nicely warm and dry. Not cheap, but comfortable.
Thanks for the recommendation!
I actually wear the new version of that columbia backpack for 8-10-16k runs. If people look at me weird I dont even notice it cause im running hahah but it is so comfortable to have something to put you clothes in if you get hot, plus gloves, phone, wallet and keys. In my case it does make a big difference, and. also if i put my phone in the back it doesnt freeze and die which is very nice as well :)))
Yesssss totally agree, I dont know what I was doing with my phone before I got one 😅 Super handy. Happy running!
Glad ur still running 2021
My goal for running this year is get faster that what I think running is all about
Being faster is cool, but there are other goals too! Like running further, or getting over an injury, or enjoying running for the first time... but do what works for you!
@@FloraBeverley I use to get injured from sprinting now I'm moving to long distance runner im still not gonna give up for sprinting yes I'm sustaining speed further and faster then I could ever thought I would yes i like fast things
@@FloraBeverley I wouldn't enjoy running if I can only do 9 minutes pace 😂😂😂😂
Haha my partner snot rockets when we run together 🤣 but I tend run with a buff wrapped around my wrist and use it as the designated 'snot rag' lol
Hahah good to hear about the differing tactics 😂
This is my first winter in the UK coming from Australia, had my first run experience of “sleet” the other day.. not a fan 😅
Hahahaha sleet is one of the worst weathers 😂 so miserable
I definetly do the "snot rocket" on runs... Luckily I run in completely isolated places where no one witnesses this.
😂😂😂 Good. Yes it was easy in dorset....
First
I live in Canada and today was a whopping sunny 5 degree, so I ran in shorts and a thin long sleeve ahahah We are not use to the same weather :P
Hahahha definitely not 😅 im always cold! 😅
What size do u have in the Columbia top? I’m tryna buy the similar half zip one :)
I'm not sure, probably the smallest size! It's pretty stretchy either way 🥰
I don't know but I watched this whole video till the end, despite its a female 🚺 related story. But I enjoyed it.
This might seem a gross question... But how often do you clean your leggings? Going for runs every day and then washing them is taking its tole.
I wash them if they smell or if they're too muddy to wear again. That might be after one very muddy trail run or after 5 runs, it really varies! I try to wash them as little as possible to use less energy and make them last longer :)
In Thailand we only try to wear less clothes as possible lol it's always warm... way too warm
What size are you wearing in stance socks? :)
Not sure sorry! But it'll be to do with your shoe size I should think? I'm a size 5
@@FloraBeverley i could only find sizes S, M, L that's why I asked but no worries thanks anyway :)
@@midori3366 oh I'll be small then :)
You need to put a high vis reflective running vest on top of all of that..
You are NOT visible nearly enough for winter conditions.
If you see my 'how to run in the dark' vlog you'll see all my kit for dark runs :)
Hokas are not high drop shoes...
Cliftons are their standard 5mm drop, which is considered low
You're right, my bad! They just FEEL high because of the cushioning. So now I'm looking for less cushioning not drop 😊
@@FloraBeverley Check out the Saucony Freedom (current model is the 3, though the 4 should be out in the next couple of months); 4mm drop, soft cushioning but not a ton of it
@@kevinmoore5101 will do, thanks!
I blow my nose into my biff hahaha
I think its normal, but also gross lol
😂😂😂 Not arguing with this
English "winter." And the Canadians sit back and laugh.
