Hi, great looking bike, but has some cons. 1. Display on Trek Fuel EXE is better. 2. Battery is not removable. On Trek you can have second battery which fits in small backpack (e.g. Osprey Syncros 12L) and then you will double the range. Moreover, the battery is not heavy at all, less than 2kg. You do not feel it on your back. With 720 Wh you can do almost everything during all day mountain rides. On backpacking trips, sometimes the only way to charge your bike is to take the battery out and plug in the hotel room. The range extender of TQ system is unfortunetly very small compared to competitors like Orbea Rise. TQ motor is excelent, but not for everyone. It is designed for fit and experienced riders. It kicks in narrow range of cadence. No overrun to support you on tech climbs. It is true that using mixed mid and eco mode you can gain ca. 1000m of elevation. With my Trek I managed to gain on technical mountain trails over 900m and 40km of distance and still had some juice left (less than 10%) and my weight is 85kg. All in all I expert this Canyon to be a fun all rounder, but limited by range, even with range extender. It would be interresting to compare Spectral on fly with Neuron. TQ vs. Bosch SX.

Canyon nailed just about all the competitors market boxes to give potential buyers another choice but failed hugely by not putting better money, R&D and installing a better battery more capable capacity battery than the 360Wh in the down tube of this bike. If their market intentions were more sincere they wouldn’t be holding back as they clearly have done with this new bike and would have put a 500Wh+ battery in that weighs comparatively the same as this current 360Wh battery and still given riders the range extender option of something far exceeding the 160Wh option but again just didn’t bother to grasp the opportunity to raise the stakes and standards of current SL emtbs, an opportunity hugely missed making this bike just another in a sea of many. Whilst nit mentioned and I’ve nit read Canyons website I’m in no doubt there will be some bs regards flying with this bike at some PR spiel. The need to get away from the sales spin of “you can remove the internal battery and fly with the bike and use range extenders” (yawn!). The amount of people who would bother doing this are less than 0.7% of the market if SL emtb users. There is also the option to extend beyond the accepted “norm” and make range extenders greater than just 169Wh with no weight penalties. So it seems as usual, the industry has released another great looking bike with no appreciable gains whatsoever in the MTB SL market and sit on current technology by holding back on perhaps next years model that could come with a better battery package at zero weight gain or extra cost to the consumer. In short, great looking bike, no gains met, no integrity towards the customer just another choice is SL emtb.
Last point that would aid on a positive which wasn’t mentioned Rich; can the down tube battery be removed by one bolt and therefore make charging the bike an option with battery installed in the frame or simply removed to recharge the battery in a hotel room etc?
There are bikes incoming to market that blow all current emtbs in a cocked hat. It’s a case of waiting to see when they will be released so this bike doesn’t get my hard earned cash as it’s no better than anything else currently in the market. Best bet for folk after a good SL emtb? Grab a second hand bike and ride it to death, save the money and bide your time.

pay more for less power? seems i dont get lightweight emtbs..... slapping a range extender on it to make it more heavy (somewhat in the range of a full power one) just to get somewhat near the range of a full powered while loosing the option of adding a warterbottle one seems counterproductive....

I have a Trek Exe with the TQ and it's great for certain things, but the battery's are simply too small and the TQ could do with a bit more NM/Watts, with the range extender it's still a bike for maybe local laps, trying to take one around say The Peak District or the Lakes, it's a serious lesson in range management. Oh and buy a spare thumb switch from new as it will snap, still awaiting a replacement 6 weeks later....

Nice looking bike, but I am missing the point why I should get this bike. For the mid range weight /capacity is like any other brand. DJI will probably be the new benchmark here if you are looking for light weight bikes. Pricewise comparable. Imagine what the weight could be with a smaller battery. Thats my point of wanting 1 bike with different battery options. The support can be adapted in the SW for the specific ride.

Unfortunaly not, but in comparison to other motors, it's the quietest motor on the market, also no rattling sound when going downhill, there are some other videos out there that are giving an impression. So sound-wise it's the best decision you can make at the moment, but of course it's coming by the cost of low support in general (300 watt max)
