    I got fitted for the p770. I absolutely love them. 1* weaker than my titleist t100s but launch lower and carry a tad further. Very easy to hit. Could feel a bit softer but I’m happy with the performance.

    The original Hollow Body Irons are the Mizuno MP-H5 Irons from 2015..... Mizuno was also the 1st to make a Titanium Driver but somehow other companies are the innovators.

      From My Golf Spy. Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) began in 2013, their first irons were hollow bodied, which I believe, precede the Mizuno HP-H5.
      You can go even further back in time, to find earlier versions of hollow bodied irons. They are not as new a concept, as some believe.

    I tried the original P790s and they were way too long for me. No need for 200yd 7i. Ended up getting the Titleist AP3 3-PW, also hollow body. In the bag ever since 🤙

    Hi James, at a fitting a few months ago I tried the Miura IC 602. They felt amazing. In the end I went with the fitter’s advice and bought Mizuno JPX 923 Forged - he said the numbers were better (and not just the price), but I can’t stop thinking about the feel of those Miuras.

    • @atamagashock
      @atamagashock 2 дня назад

      Those 923 forged are really nice. During my fitting it came down to those and the 790s. I ended up in the 790s cause I technically hit them the best, even though the 923 forged had almost the same numbers. I think I went 790, mainly because I had taylormade irons going into the fitting. I must say I’ve thought about them mizunos since

    • @markmark5488
      @markmark5488 2 дня назад

      @@atamagashock 😂 I went Mizuno because I had Mizunos before - old MX-20 irons that I've had for 20 years. The 790s are very popular for a reason though, so you've definitely made a good choice. The Miura IC 602 I tested was really special though - absolutely beautiful, with a size that looks almost too compact, but it felt great for each of the half-dozen shots I had. They are ridiculously expensive, but as I said, I was replacing 20-year-old clubs, and I'm not expecting to change these new ones in the next couple of years.

    Found a really nice 1987 TM tour preferred set of irons 2-W. Hollow 2,3,&4. Muscle back 5-W. Will clean, tune, re-grip and game these. Not really low handicappers irons, but pretty cool tech.

    My Dad wanted to buy my Mizuno MP-5s off me so I had a toss up between Takomo 101Ts or TaylorMade P770s.
    I thought long and hard, and had the TaylorMades in an online basket more than once, but ultimately couldn't justify an extra £800 4-PW for seemingly just brand snobbery. I went with the Takomo 101Ts and have played my best ever golf with them. £640 including shipping 4-PW (£600 for the clubs without shipping) they are just an absolute steal.
    My only concern with them is resell ability, but with how much I love them that's very much future Jack's problem and I'll absolutely get my money's worth even without taking resale in to account.
    I bloody love em, would 100% recommend.

    It’s the PXG all the way for me. I use oversize grips and they adjust the swingweight to compensate the extra weight in the grip. With all the others I’d have to use lead tape or get them tip weighted.

    The TiFusion are the research version, suspect next years Callaway irons will be a version of these but affordable, they can’t waste all that research, economy of scale will make them affordable. But in this category P790 and P770 take some beating, obviously fitting and feel is personal, but the performance, ive tried the PXG, not a patch on the P770

    Finally got to check out the new P7CB, yeah that's a legitimate full on tour cavity iron, out of my league but they sure look good. In a throwback kinda way.
    Taking price out of the equation the new Apex ti fusion is a top performer in a Very competitive market right now, I look at it as the future in club head manufacturing, much like the Cobra 3D printed irons. For now I'd be foolish to buy anything other than Maltby irons...outstanding clubs!

    A great selection of top hollow bodied irons, but, James, Taylormade were not the first to make hollow bodied irons filled with foam/elastomer injection, there was an out of court settlement, if I remember correctly. PXG filed a lawsuit in federal court against TaylorMade Golf, citing “many” patent infringements resulting from the company’s new P790 iron later in 2017. While neither TaylorMade nor PXG has offered any official statement, one has to think the basis for the suit has to do with the injection filled, hollow-body construction that is the foundation of most PXG products. While PXG uses thermoplastic elastomer and TaylorMade uses a TPU-based SpeedFoam, if the patents are broad enough, the material won’t matter. This case will likely boil down to process and construction, not the material composition of the goo.

    It’s a shame vice decided to price irons so high. Maybe if dropped all the color combos the irons could be a few hundred dollars cheaper. Like the color options but price is ridiculous for a company that has a direct to consumer motto.
