Under the Dome is such a special book to me. It was the first of his doorstop books that I read on release day. The cover is a banger, and it has a MAP! Every book is better with a map. Thanks for making this video, Mr. Durfee--it made my day a little better.
Firstly, I agree with you, they had no business breaking the book down into 2 parts. I actually have a whole single volume of the book in paperback (not mass market, but the one between mass market and trade paperback). I read this book a few years ago and gave it 3 stars. It’s a good book, but I may have been all too familiar with the story, having watched The Simpsons movie and the other reason was that I felt how other characters beside Dale weren’t given enough agency. I’m fine with the “lone gunman trope”, but in a 900 page book it tends to get a bit stale after a while. That’s why It and The Stand work better for me, there are clear leaders of respective groups, but other characters are given ample time to shine. Maybe I’m misremembering, but I just know I got a bit bored while Dale was in prison, as if the whole thing needs to stand still until he is released. After a reread, I might bump it up to 4/5, but that’s just my take. Other than that, a good book with the recognizable Stephen King small town atmosphere.
I`m rereading a portuguese translation of this book after some years, and now I can say it has become one of my favorites. By the way, it`s verý good to practice my listening comprehension by watching a such good review of Under The Dome like this one. Have been a huge Stephen King fan and a constant reader of his work for 35 years. Thanks for this video, man.
Hi Brian, Finally someone who loves this book as much as I do. I don't know what it is about this book but I love it so much. You have prety much every type of character and I really enjoy seeing how they deal with this situation and it unfolds so well. The pacing is fine and the characters are memorable for me.
I have the paper back but its only one book. now i got to check i didnt accidently get a single volume 😂 yup my 2010 paperback copy is one single book (not split into volumes)
I really enjoyed Under the Dome. But for me, the ending was not good. Or I guess when it was revealed how the dome came to be. Everything up until then was a 10/10 for me.
My sentiments exactly. Loved the rest of the book, but then the big end reveal felt a little anticlimactic. Not sure how else I would've ended it. It was a great premise that's hard for any resolution to outdo the beginning.
Under the dome is the second book by king that I read and I absolutely enjoyed definitely one of my favorites from king the only problem with it is the ending I did enjoy the first two seasons of the tv show but hate the final season it was horrible and that finale was so lame
@@devinreese7704 since reading under the dome in 2013 I have read many of kings other books including Dolores Claiborne Billy summers Rose madder The dark tower series Insomnia The stand Salem's lot Sleeping beauties Full dark no stars The talisman Later and many more
I remember becoming interested in this book back when they made the tv series. I only ever saw the beginning episodes so I have thought about reading this to find out what happened. plus books are usually better than movies/tv.
I always wished more people would review this book, so I'm glad to see it here. Excellent review. Also...looking forward to a big review of Forgetting Moon that I hear is coming up
The Regulators and Desperation covers also make one picture. Another "dome" book I liked better is Robert McCammon's Stinger. You should have been showing your dome the whole video.
This is the one book of King’s that has sat on my shelf unread. It’s the poor reviews that has kept me away but you’ve given me hope to pick it up. Love your videos!
I read Under the Dome in a few days. It draws you through beautifully. Layers of critique lashed out at Darth Cheney's regime, and the many echoes from other works adds savor to a strong, multi-character plot. Great Stephen King.
Superb review. You are the king of King. Not king of Kings so don't try water walking. The vast majority of Mr. Kings books are excellent. I am on a Dennis LeHane jag lately. Fun dialog.
So true why would they make 2 books go figure. I am excited for his new book coming out in September will you buy it . Thanks for the review love his books. Have a great day and take care.
Great review. This sounds really interesting. I just read my first Stephen King novel 11/22/63. You mention you are three-quarters through your King reviews - have you read every Stephen King novel? That's amazing.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS If it's a choice between taeshawn Bowers or Cle, I sure hope we pick Bowers🤞 I am so SICK of seeing Cle in a Raiders uniform. boo hoo, they make every possible effort to maximize what they get out of you wallet, is no surprising anymore ( to anyone). is not logical to sell you two books instead of only one ? for one single novel?

I love when you say something and catch yourself like “that didnt make any sense.” Always makes me laugh 😂👍🏼
I really liked this book too. The end was strange to say the least, but it was either that or no reason, I I dont mind it.
Its one of my favs too!
Cheers Brian, this has been on my shelves for a couple of years. It's now up to number 3 on my tbr.
The U.K Paperback version is just one book. Not sure if you can get the two volume one as well but I've never seen it.

For me it comes down to print size and darker ink. It just helps the enjoyment of reading!! Maybe 2 books are just easier to hold !!
This book has been sitting on my shelf for some time now.... now I must take it down!
It's really great read 💯
The book is way better than the tv show to me 🙂
So true. I wasted money buying the TV show on DVD😒
@@eboniestevenson231 I'm sorry that you wasted your money on the tv show
The book was great, and the TV show is one of the shittest shows I’ve ever seen, absolutely shite😂😂
Always buy book
The show would have be R rated to do the book justice.
Great review. One of my favorite King books, definitely top ten.

I just finished the book today. An excellent story with some crazy characters.
Enjoyed the ending too 👍
Man great reviewl. The cover, the thickness and the premise of the book REALLY appeals to me for some reason.

Like your style, Brian!
I really enjoyed this one. I remember being particularly freaked out about some of the deaths that happened when the dome first came down
Exactly! And what happens when the bomb went off killing the rest of the town.
I thought this was a great story. I couldn't put it down. Thanks for the review.
Love your channel Brian 😊

Yes brian definitely has read every book I enjoyed 11/22/63 and the tv adaptation of it
I'm excited to read this. I remember when the TV series was on. I really enjoyed it so I know the book will be great!
The book is way better than the tv show
Interesting review!
Brian, Love your stuff, do the Raiders keep both Leatherwood and Ferrell this season?
Good question. I think they keep Ferrell because dumping him would be a 9 million $$ cap hit. I think they trade Leatherwood
