  • It was a real treat to talk to King's X bassist/vocalist Doug "dUg" Pinnick to discuss his musical background and to take a deep dive into the band's debut album, Out of the Silent Planet, which just turned 35 years old! There are no punches pulled when discussing the things that were both good and bad during that time and it's good to know that dUg has made peace with the record after all these years. Be sure to check out the band's official website, kingsxrocks.com.

Great interview. Kings x was the first and only time I cried at a concert. It was during Goldilox in the early 90’s

Dug, you made this STL guy happy with all the recordings! I have listened since I heard Over My Head. Saw you guys at Pops in Sauget IL with Joe Satriani and Dream Theater! I was right up front by fence. Never forget it. And yes the Out of the Silent Planet was purchased same time for me as Gretchen. I have the Gretchen T-Shirt too! Always wanted live DVD/BluRay from back then.

Out of the silent planet! My favorite KX record. I remember buying it at record world for $5.99
I heard king plating in the store, had to buy the album. Masterpiece. There was nothing like it. Goldilox, king, shot of love, visions- all classics.
Funny story: I saw KX in NJ back in 92', I brought the record to be signed and as I approached the guys with the record I remember telling Doug how much I loved it and his response was " wow! This record, haha! Really? It wasn't very good! " 😂 needles to say they all signed it and it's on my wall. I love kings x , I've seen them 40 times and I'm just glad they're still around
