For a school trip we went to the old stadium before they renovated in 2007 to the modern one & they have made it look much better especially the symbolic arc 👏🏾.
The first game at Wembley was between Kidderminster Harriers and Stevenage. England Brazil was June 1st and harriers vs Stevenage was on may 12th 2007.
From this a lot more "display" material has been added to the tour compared with when I did it about 10 years ago. The fact that the FA didn't or couldn't buy up more of the surrounding area of the stadium was a missed opportunity as it has left little milling space outside
It'd be great to see you do a little football tour of Cyprus. It's a pretty small island so travelling is very manageable if you rent a car and they've got a really cool little football culture with some fierce political rivalries (Onomia vs APOEL) as well as some interesting stadiums dotted around in the middle of nowhere. If you get some locals to help you out and show you the culture around food/football/politics I reckon it'd be a great series of videos. Puncheon is also still playing out there for Pafos!
That wall with the history at the start of the video was not there when I went down Wembley Way back in September. I got to walk around the outside of the ground but couldn't do a tour because I had to work......
My first visit to the new Wembley was just after it opened and was for the FA Vase final. I did a tour of the old Wembley and was interesting but showed it's age
The actual first game at the new Wembley was Stevenage vs Kidderminster Harriers in the 2007 FA Trophy final, it finished 3-2 to Stevenage (my team 🤍❤️)
It's so cool Ronaldo gave Wembley the shirt real madrid honoured him with after breaking the real madrid all time top scoring record. The stadium looks so big than it is on TV. It looks more intimidating. Great video as always.
Tbh I don't have the best memories of being at Wembley, wolves lost 3-2 ofc but it's a beautiful stadium I just remember seeing thousands of wolves fans walking down Wembley way all chanting but seeing the size of Wembley is what really blew me away
Great post, haven't been yet as Ipswich Town are one of 8 league team's of the 92 that haven't played there yet, good to see Sir Alf Ramsey remembered there in that bust, I have always thought they could have incorporated the iconic twin towers into the design of new stadium 💙⚪
That 20 minute set that Queen performed in 1985 at Live Aid is probably the best thing to ever happen at either Wembley.Absolutely unbelievable from a guy performing unknowingly with HIV and a problem with his throat around that time
I've been to both of Watford's last two FA Cup semi-finals and the atmosphere was hectic because Watford are my local team (although I'm actually an Arsenal fan)
Hi mate have you any plans to do a South Yorkshire grounds video. There's both Sheffield clubs United & Wednesday, Barnsley, Doncaster & my club Rotherham, love it if you would. Great content BTW. 👏👏👏
I’ve lived in Wembley all my life (38years). I worked at the old Wembley stadium and the new one! I sold merchandise at the old Wembley and worked in the various bars etc in the new one! I went there to see Michael Jackson! I’ve seen loads of football games there! It’s an awesome venue!!! It’s a shame it’s all getting covered up by thousands and thousands of flats!!!
Unfortunately there were no lifts in the stadium for Disabled access and the old ramps were not compliant with new regs (too steep) shame but we move on in life - The steps when they were built also included 2 massive new lifts to help those into the stadium easier.
World class stadium that I've been to many times. However, in my opinion, it hasn't got the romance or grandeur of the original Wembley stadium - which was so special. I'm glad I went to that one.
Dele among the legends lol and I was thinking wow ronaldo, Messi and Cantona among THE legend, Gazza!! And I went to Wembley to watch Hursty get the mariners out of the vanarama five years ago and where are we now, trying to get out of the vanarama with Hursty again.
During the Rangers AGM a supporter with disabilities brought up, the issues they have with facilities and viewing the games, My nephew uses a wheelchair, He’s not been to Ibrox in over 20yr, Could you highlight disabled access and their viewing at the grounds
The video is titled "home of football" but the true home of football is Sheffield and Bramall Lane. The Sheffield rules and 1st ever cup competition (Youdan Cup) started a few years before the FA (football association) was formed. Great video though, thanks for the effort.
Dont forget WWF SUMMERSLAM 92 August 29th 1992 when 80,355 WWE Fans packed in to watch a double main event of Ultimate Warrior v Macho Man Randy Savage and the greatest Summerslam main event ever when The British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith defeated Bret Hitman Hart for the WWF INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP.
Wembley is a stunning stadium! Anfield is the best but Wembley also beautiful! In ancient Hellas🇬🇷 we had a game called Επίσκυρος / epískiros. There were two teams of 14 men. Instead of nets they had two lines. The two teams were trying to pass the ball to the opponent’s line. The ball was made by animals’ skin and it was painted in bold colours. The most old ball had been found on the island of Samothrace in Hellas! In the cup that Italy won this year…😒😔😡 there was a figure of a man performing tricks with a ball. That picture is from a marble slab found in Hellas🇬🇷 The idea of game was created in Hellas🇬🇷 but football got it final form in England🏴. The rules we all know today, the number of players… etc were established in England! Thanks for all the great footy videos!!!

The 'Home' of football was demolished to make way for a Tony Blair vanity project,(he wanted to get rid of the 'Empire' Stadium). The replacement is a soulless auditorium that could be anywhere from Seattle to Abu Dhabi. Bobby Charlton gave it the thumbs down, and he should know.
