if the actual cost of the bike was 5.000E for the new dual sport style it would have sold like peanuts. On the other hand at the price you can get Yamaha's MT-3 , Kawa Z400, Benelli's TRK 502 or Leoncino 500, Honda CB 500, Husqvarna svartpilen, KTM 390 and CF Moto or even Bajaj Dominar 400. All of them have power around 40-48hp.
I've been taking a good hard look at the R.E. Interceptor and at this bike , love the look of the R.E. but was not so crazy about the front end of this bike but if as you say you can get one with bigger light you just made it even harder to make my mind up so thanks for that .. Just yanking your chain there guys great video review and I think I'm just going to have to get both bikes . love this channel .
Looks a good bike but I think the Royal Enfield bikes are better for the money as the parts backup and resale value will be better over the years just incase Mash goes Mashed after a few years 🤷♂️
The Yamaha MT03 660cc single (discontinued) was a cracking and highly underrated bike imo. I had one for 5 years and loved it. If this big thumper is as grunty, agile and fun to ride as that was, then it's a very good bike.
Nice. The concept reminds me of the Sachs 650. A road bike chassis with the big single from the Suzuki DR650 trail bike. Even the capacity at 644 is the same. Shame they didn't fit a stainless steel exhaust.
Thanks for a great vid guys, I love the looks of this apart from the headlight- on which I can't decide whether I totally love it or totally hate it. This looks to be a viable and affordable retro styled alternative to the RE 650s, but there is that slight niggle about nationwide parts and servicing availability... I like that it's on the lighter side for a 650, so the 40bhp won't feel too little for the odd A-road run.
I think the mud you're seeing on the front light and plate are from the small front mudguard really. The tires flicks the mud forward, the air catches it, and it comes back on the light.
Really love and appreciate your work guys. Any chance or plans for review of the Sinnis Bomber any time soon, really like the look of it but there isn't much about it online so I hope that you guys can help.
My type of bike, i think i'll be getting this, for £5.1k. Recently sold my HD883 customised flat track inspired bike to my mate. Need to fill the gap. Good vid.
I don‘t like the ugly headlight, I would replace it first with a regular round headlight (p.e. from the Mash Five Hundred) But the rest is very beautiful and the bike looks powerful and sounds great! Cool video! Best regards
Looking for a commuter into the city that isn’t as dull as dishwater. I like the look of these bikes but cannot find anywhere details of the service intervals. The old Honda this is based on had 2k mike oil changes - hoping these would be better?
Jonathan Griffiths shame. It baffles me how short the service intervals on some bikes are. I know many are kept for a couple of sunny days a year but I use a bike all year round for commuting so the practical side of things is really important
The engine is not all newly designed, it is based on Honda's Dominator, hence the low horsepower. Nevertheless I would like to try the bike, looks like a lot of fun for the price.
What is it's top speed. Does it do a Ton? What is it's acceleration like in the mid range? How many miles to the Gallon? Mud on the headlight. Yes, it will get dirty particularly off road but then that mud has too go somewhere whatever the headlight set up. Think I would prefer an ordinary light just the same.
The mud splatter problem is caused by the short front mudguard, short as in too short over the front tyre, e.g. The crap is thrown forward but due to the airflow blows back on the bike... Simples!
I ride a'65 AJS 350 , so large round headlight please . You didn't say whether it is carbureted or injected , and is it battery coil & points or is it electronic ignition inion ? It's a nice looking bike , too bad Mash is not available in Canada .
Add a round light remove that flat front and put a extender fender on front mudguard I think it would work better and find a company that make an sports exhaust and k&n filter get a bit more hp and I think it would be a better option ..... do you think mash will stand the test of time and reliable as the other makes how will the second hand value stack up keep up good reviews take care guys
Is it available with the gold rims and a chrome exhaust? The 250 cc really stands out in this regard and I'm surprised this is not the same as the 250 really stands out by comparison
Longer front mudguard would stop the front wheel throwing crap all over the front headlight area. The front wheel throws dirt up in front of you and you're moving forward into it. Happens on any bike with very short or no front mudguard. If you go really fast, it throws it in your face too! Short or no mudguards looks cool as F, but not good for riding in wet weather...or if you like a clean bike! It looks better with mud on it anyway, it a dirt tracker aint it? Ride it like one!
Yes it is the Honda Dominator 650 engine for which Mash got the patent in 2016 to produce in China for this bike. Service intervals are 2500 miles plus valve check which does seem a short distance but I think it will be bullet proof.
@@stevenfox7378 i really like the look of the 650 dirt bike ( XT look ) my local dealer has just got some in , im going for a test ride . i was a Honda tech for 20 years and know the 600/650 singles well .
How does the this Mash 650 compare to the SWM Super dual 650 you tested a year ago ? Both machines are monocylindres and come from "cheaper" manufacturers... You had the chance to test them both, how are they on the job ?
You have tested the SWM Superdual 650T, also a big thumper, made in China, same price bracket..., so how does it compare for power, torque, comfort, built quality & equipment, fit & finish, and reliability? What's your impressions? Thanks for yr help...
Hi, hard to compare as the SWM is more utility than dirt tracker. Both ride brilliantly but different. Mash is more fun use and SWM more practical use. SWM feels more powerful but Mash slightly swifter at the bottom end. Build quality both very good as is reliability although SWM edges the win I would say with comfort and equipment. Both great to ride but depends what you want to use the bike for?
I’m not sure why euro bikes feel the need to hang that secondary mud guard thing... when I see one I have to fight a sudden urge to grab my angle grinder! Good for them making a 650 thumper though!
The Himalayan is cheaper and the interceptor is close on price and I think they come with a 3 year warranty, in a couple of years that mash be worth less than a packet of crisps , get a good secondhand yamaha mt07 with change
Where I agree, the RE's are good! Those and certainly the MT are very different style bikes so cannot really compare. Anyone looking for a dirt track style bike probably wouldn't go for a Yamaha MT07, or either of the RE's really. Himalayan is a 28 bhp off road bike and the Interceptor is more of a roadster (Mash Five Hundred...that is actually a 400cc...is closer in comparison to the RE).
I owned the 400 Mash Scrambler from new, and sold it two and a half years later for half what I paid, had no probs at all, bike was solid nippy 80-85mph, cheap to run, great fun and it looked good, it's old tec just like this one, which I liked. The Himalayan is 411cc four-stroke engine that makes 24.5hp the Mash 400 is about 29hp. Both are cool, I prefered the Mash.
It’s 6.5 decilitres. Centilitre is 1/100 litre. Also the price difference between this and RE 650 interceptor is so little that it makes it really hard to take the mash 650 seriously.
