This past week I was in Orlando for the opening of the new attraction "Frozen Ever After" at Epcot! So here's a sneak peak a the new ride as well as our fun experience on getting stuck on it!

I think someone was once telling me they got stuck on it's a Small World for like an hour (they may have been exagerrating) and the song played the whole time. AAARgh. Tht would be obnoxious.
i heard its a small world breaks down like all the time and that has happened to a lot of people, thats terrifying lmao

Lol, I was stuck on It's a Small World for about 45 minutes, pure medieval torture.
I got stuck on the Winnie the Pooh ride when I was little, during the rainy part. I still have the song in my head. But not the full song. Just the same couple of lines over and over that they play on the ride. "The rain, rain, rain goes down, down, down."
Not gonna lie...I love getting stuck on Disney rides!! We once got stuck on the Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin in that HUGE room full of targets - needless to say, we maxed out our score!
Liz Bixby That's cool, but your definitely embellishing that story. When you get stuck, they make each target worth no points, I've been stuck in it many times lol.
What's embellished? We maxed out the score in the large room when the ride stopped. Fact. The targets don't void out every time the ride is paused. It depends on WHY the ride is paused - but this also happened more than five years ago, and the mechanisms have been updated and changed since then, so maybe your experiences have been different. Every time I've ridden it in the last 2 years, it hasn't actually stopped long enough to allow for a significant difference in points. The incident I originally talked about involved us being stuck on the ride for more than 15 minutes. Malfunctions are malfunctions, which means anything can happen - which includes the void point mechanism not kicking in when the ride stops.

That has happened to me when i went not that long ago. We got stuck 3 times so we got to max out our score. It's was fun but annoying/loud😂
I agree. I got stuck on the ride part of the haunted house at Disney Land and I thought it was so fun how once the ghosts go sit down on the ride next to us and we got to sit by the ghost longer

The most fantastic part of the ride is when you get stuck on the ride that animatronics stay animated to convince children that they are real. It was so seamless it was brilliant. I'm glad Disney steps up their game at every opportunity.

Are the animatronics motion censored? like I was surprised Elsa didn't repeat her song when they were stuck and Marshmallow didn't blow his air until the boat go in range of him...
They're not animatronics, they're holograms!

the faces of the humans are, and the eyes of Olaf and Sven are, but the rest of their bodies are still animatronic. There's videos of the ride from opening day where the animatronics malfunctioned and so only the eyes and for some characters, the mouths, moved.

Omg, Elsa waves when the ride gets stuck
When I saw it, Anna and kristoff and Sven weren't working, Elsa was amazing though! The thing I didn't love about it was it didn't actually tell the story of frozen, but the ride itself is very impressive.
Yeah, it's supposed to be a post-movie ride which is so weird tbh. Like, yeah everyone probably knows what Frozen is but not everyone has actually seen it lol.

Mr. Pokeblast I rode it right before the ride went down for repairs. The projections were working at the time, but the animatronics are very delicate I think, so I think they just needed a bit of tweaking.
Doesent matter how often i see a video of this ride...i just can't get over it how awesome this Animatronics look...so smooth and the beautyful. Even the way Annas dress is moving! Its just...wow...wish i could see this ride too..

I did alot! Mostly alone some with my bff and once with my bff it broke and she shouted "Hey, We are now stuck guys!" I bursted out laughing because the poor little kids... And And not at Elsa my favorite character Olaf and for a second I said "Hey Olaf why u ain't speaking?" So yea.
And When it worked we did get stuck at Elsa and we laughed from the waves and then we got stuck at the best part... When Anna AND Elsa are there and I burst out laughing and I could never stop.

They have been doing this with all of the recent rides just look at Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway if the trains ate backed up then Minnie will sing a song and then I don't know what else also this is in the final room.
I am pretty amazed the WHOLE song get animated generally some animatronic only move till certain part of the song and just get back to their reset phase since youre not suppouse to see that part but is incredible she did and later on she wave XD
Am I the only one who noticed that Elsa waved back at you when you yelled goodbye to her?

It's a very old ride system with a new theme. The revenge is Disney not replacing every piece of that ride before re-opening it. Old rides are old rides even with new characters and name.

I like it how they handled the animatronic when it broke down. They didn't just repeat the song a dozen times, nor did they shut off the animatronic, they actually have a sequence for it to still look good even when the ride breaks down :O
This looks really good one thing that kind of bothers me is though is how Anna and Elsa's face look a bit shiny and bright from the projectors but still an amazing ride
That might just be how the camera filmed them. They might not look like that irl.

It would have been cool if the ice came next to Elsa or close to her at least. The things in the window were too far and it would have been nice if she build something for the castle. Also the characters needed to show up more. I was expecting more like the trolls dancing or the big marshmallow guy to appear out of nowhere and throw like cold at you. And the ride to be pushed away by it.
Okay, Elsa looks stoned. But that still looks like the best part of the ride when it's working. You guys are lucky. Wish I could go back to Disney Wrold.

I have to say I'm impressed the imagineers went into the trouble of giving Elsa an "extra" motion just in case people were stuck. I'm referring to the little wave she does. It's really endearing and it keeps your interest.
they shouldve done this ride in magic kingdom tho, they didnt have to get rid of malestrom for something that has nothing to do with the epcot theme or norway
agreed! epcot is supposed to be about education. while this ride is so cute, I think they shouldn't have taken away maelstrom!
This ride is good, but not great, it really should have been somewhere else, the plot to this ride in my opinion would fit in better if it was a stage show and they were singing songs from the movie. Unless you're a die hard fan of frozen and willing to wait, this ride is to be skipped

Brandon Martinez I feel the same way. Even though the animatronics are spectacular, so much of the space was wasted on the ice castle theme that it isn't worth seeing it in person, what with the wait and all.

Nice to see that the animatronics have some kind of umm, reserve program, that will kick in if stuff like this happens :P So it won't be like totally creepy..
I'm a former cast member who worked at the Mexico pavilion and one of the coolest things I got to do was going on the frozen ride by myself during work hours 😁

I have hated the projection faces in the past. but it really works here. I didn't even realize it was projection faces till I watched a video of the ride. it looks brighter here, but It looks absolutely fantastic in real life. still not sold on it for the mine train though

I'm glad that's where you got stuck. I can see everything that Elsa does there. In the other videos they're moving backwards away from her.
Those animatronics look incredible! Just like in the movie. Like, it's hard to tell they're robots. They look great!
Honestly it breaks my heart to think that people are waiting 5-7 hours to go on this ride!!! That's like half of your entire day of Disney spent in line for a 6 minute ride. It's beautifully done and looks like a blast (of snow!) but I could never let myself wait that long... honestly since I started using fastpasses I balk at anything over 60 minutes. XP
In Disney World a fastpass is an electronic thing, but in disney land they're still paper, but both work similarly, you go to a fastpass booth and get a ticket for the ride you want, it will give you a certain time window (for example 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm in which you can return to the ride's Fastpass line. This line is much shorter than the regular line for the ride because the fastpasses are limited, but they are completely free!
A fastpass is a way for Disney guests to get on rides easier. It basically means you get to skip the long lines. Not all attractions have fastpasses available (it's mostly for the most popular attractions) but they are incredibly useful! There's little kiosks by the rides that take fastpasses, and you insert your ticket and you get a little card with a certain time window (mostly an hour long window) and you go during that time frame and get on the ride without having to wait! That's just how it works in California, with them still being paper, because I've only been to Orlando once when I was two. I think theirs are electronic. But yeah, if you ever go to Disneyland or any Disney park in the world, get fastpasses!
Yep. You get to choose 3 Fast Passes for each day of your trip, reserved up to 60 days in advance. You can also reserve or change them while you are in the park with the MDE (mydisneyexperience) APP on your phone. After you use the first 3, you may keep reserving one more at a time if there is any availability left.
What is the animation in the window when Elsa is singing? It's not from the movie and it's not a reflection of the animatronic, because it's slightly off. Whatever it is, it's awesome
Probably a new animation they made for the ride to match the movements of the animatronic.

My mouth was agape the whole time. I haven't been to a Disney park since I was 5 and this is a huge step up from It's A Small World and the Pirates of the Caribbean (before the movies came out). I felt the magic.
Disney rides have gotten better and better with animatronics👌 I thought the little mermaid animatronics were good but these frozen ones are amazing!!

I renember I was stuck on Splash Mountain and I was 10 and my mom want there so we had to get out of the ride and I was freaking out. at least we got 2 fast passes!
I've got to say, i ADORE this hand movement in "to test the limits and break through" (specifically in "test"). So graceful! I totally love it!
the animatronics look so beautiful. the movement (especially in the first Olaf and Elsa) looks so realistic and human

Is that the original cast singing the new lyrics and arrangements? I've always loved the fact that the cast is so Broadway oriented. Jonathan Groff singing "For the First Time in Forever" was amazing, if only he would have his own rendition of "Love is an Open Door". He will always be King George in my heart. :3

Last time I went on it Elsa was completely stuck lol glad I got it on video. Hope she isn't stuck again when I go again this year. Still the anamatronics are incredible.

I have a good experience of being stuck, the worst part if each is that the animatronics stare and some like Elsa wave and I just thought "Get me out before I jump out from that stare and wave..." And I love the rides and when they delay it's from...
1. Animatronics or Track parts or Ride is broken or experiencing difficulties
2. Someone was stupid or some reason unlock their buckle and got out
3. Wheel chair person getting in.

those are some freakishly good animatronics. it kinda scares me how realistic and smooth their movements are.

It looks really cool! I just sort of felt like there was a lot of space wasted with just ice castle walls that they could have put more into. They already had such a limited space to work with, you would think they would try and use every inch of it!

I just went on it today and Elsa's arm's were stuck in place and her body wasn't moving at all!!! Her face still worked though and the audio was fine but she was just stuck completely in place! *still giving props to the great animatronics though*

Thank you for posting such a positive vlog about this ride! I think it looks incredible, and I'm a little tired of reading negative comments on it. It's okay to miss Maelstrom, but we can still LOVE this ride! :)
insanely lucky where you got "stuck" aka suspended in Frozen heaven.
I completely understand that this is a new ride, and of course there's going to be technical issues because it's so new. I think this ride looks absolutely incredible! I'm a little biased because I have never been on Malstrom (I'm a Disneyland CA native) but I think for what it is, this attraction seems pretty phenomenal! It's a little insane that people are waiting all day to ride this thing, but what else can you do? I'm sure the parents of these kids don't want to do it either, but they're doing it for their kids. And there are people who are waiting in line because they want to, and that's okay too!
I just hope the ride gets settled in, and people really stop hating on it. Disney did a beautiful job.

Sami McDonald Seems a lot of the new animatronics are more temperamental. The Cars Land Animatronics sometimes go down as well.
Lol got stuck on it. Really fun when you have to walk off, you can see everything up close, twas an experience to remember!
It's crazy how realistic Elsa's movements were. Incredible, id really wanna see an in depth behind the scenes on the making of the animatronics to compare them on how far we've come from when animatronics like Country Bear Jamboree were just being made
That....is a clever back-up plan on an already amazing animatronic. I figured she'd just creepily continue doing the motions of the song just without the music (or worse, with it on infinite loop) or completely stop altogether (god help your nightmares if that projection goes blank) but instead they added a clever touch and just had her stop and wave (granted, she keeps that annoying little smirk, but ah well). Good on them for thinking ahead like that.
