This is the second home in which ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

I know. There are a lot of people, mostly people who live in or near the country, that leave their doors and car doors unlocked all the time. It's asking for it - especially if they have to visit bigger cities. I don't even leave blinds or curtains open at night so as to not let people see in vs. us see out. Some people just have no instinct in security. They are used to knowing everybody and "not wanting to be unfriendly". That just doesn't work like it used to.

If you don't know the codes to turn off the preventive security measures some people can take to protect their property, you just might jolted with enough electricity to pee your pants. My cameras are a part of the home, behind bullet proof glass. God forbid they set off the alarm. Everyone in a 1/5 miles radius will know that someone is attempting a break-in at my place. If you have a protective dog they will alert you before even the door ring does. My dog will bark even when we’re in bed in the second floor. She’s that in tune with any sound of a person or animal near our property. Having a firearm to even threaten a intruder is helpful because the police are over worked and have not enough help and come sadly too late until someone is hurt or dead. Be diligent to protect your family. Waiting 20- 30 minutes or even longer for police to come will be too late if you are in danger. It’s sad that it’s this way but that’s what happens when leaders such as mayors, city council and governors make stupid decisions to defund police departments and let criminals off too easily.

"If a thief breaks into your home, the first thing they are going to notice, is your security camera."
    WRONG!!!
If a thief breaks into my home, the first thing he's going to notice, is his death certificate, already filled out, with cause of death, and mounted on my wall. The coroner can skip the autopsy, and Vital Records can purchase an accurate death certificate from me. The cause of death may be a little upsetting to the coroner's office, so they should probably skip reading that part.

Amazon packages needs to be going to the lockers especially if they are small. I have two neighbors in my building who always leave their packages in the hallway downstairs for days next to a glass door which is unlocked and easy for anyone to steal. Sometimes I’ll take their packages and place it in front of their door after a couple of days. Right now one of the girls have two packages in front of their door in the hallway that’s been there for a couple of days. I never see her so I don’t know what’s going on with her. As I was coming in the building tonight around 8:00 pm, there is a big box in the hallway. I was going to grab it and see who it belongs to and place it in front of their door, but it was too heavy so I left it. Also UPS sometimes leaves packages in our hallway for the building next door. I end up taking those packages to the correct building after a couple of days.
Another guy in my building order a SH*T load of items the week before Thanksgiving, then goes on vacation and all of his packages were delivered while he was gone. I kid you not, he had about 10 packages in front of his door that were there for about a week. 🙄

For the record. Many delivery customers request that the driver doesnt knock or ring the bell. And whenever an order is completed a message is sent to the customers phone. Truth be told if u order delivery you should be there and ready to receive it. What happens to it on your end is your problem.

Part of the problem is delivery drivers don't even to bother to knock or ring the bell to let you know they have left a package. I have been home with TWO cars in the driveway soooo many times and that has happened. The only thing that tipped me off was the rumble of the truck coming or going. It's disgusting. One time was when the driver left a box of 1200 rounds of rifle ammunition that was clearly marked as ammunition on the porch ,another was a box with a $3,000 bicycle in it. Disgusting!

Sometimes they leave packages in the wrong place because they're too lazy to follow your directions.
Here's a good one: the mail carrier thought the A/C adapter for my generator was a cell phone, so she wrapped it in a grocery store flyer, put it thru my mail slot then pulled it back out, put it back in her mailbag then walked away. I caught it on my Ring camera and reported her. It took months to take her off the route so I wonder how many phones she stole.

I agree with you wholeheartedly that these doorbells are an ineffective way to protect your things, and possibly your life. Where are the alarms that should be alerting the individuals who live in the homes that are being violated? Having the cameras record the thieves as they molest the people/person's belongings are a waste of time without the added alarms that should be alerting them of a robbery in process.

    • @carolmode7754

Use to if you farted to close to a car parked beside you or slammed ur door it would set the alarm off. Always one going off in a parking lot. These people pay 50 to 80 grand for a vehicle now and someone busts a window and an alarm doesn’t even go off. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mine’s got the old fashion kind if you lean against it after I lock it, it goes off.

@@marshascholes3713People have to set up the alert for motion sensor on their Ring.
Then they will then get an alert immediately when there is motion.
It is easy to do, and you can choose the size of the area from near your Ring doorbell (like in your front entry area), to a larger area, such as your front porch, and whatever the camera can see, including the steps, walkway, driveway, street, etc.)
The Ring does work well because you can get that notification direct to your cell phone even if you are in a part of the house or yard not near the ring camera.
The motion sensor can alert you BEFORE the perps do anything.
I was asleep, when around 3 am some bozo set off the motion alarm of my Ring.
I called the cops because he was lingering around.
He drove off before the cops arrived (but they were quick because they were patrolling around anyway.
I went outside after his car pulled out of my driveway onto the street, and could see that he drove down and parked at the other end of the street, (on the wrong side), with headlights facing down the street towards our end.
      Very strange.
If I didn't have the Ring doorbell with the motion sensor, whose alert woke me up BEFORE he knocked on the front door, it would have been a lot more frightening.
Because of the alert from Ring before he even got to the entryway, I called the cops right away, and didn't have to wake up out of a dead-sleep to hear someone banging on my front door.
Plus, you get to see what the people look like and it is a time-stamped recording.

There are so many abandoned dogs, most who end up in local (horrific) shelters, and end up being killed within days because their irresponsible, heartless owners dumped them because they just felt like it. Make no mistake though - if it were a predatory bear and went after you it could rip you up faster than you can say bobble head. A lot of hunters would be happy if one like that passed through their sites.
