- BATMAN VS SUPERMAN DAWN OF JUSTICE BAD MOVIE REVIEW | Bad Movies Rule Episode 150 - You either love this movie and have been defending it for the last 8 years, or you checked out back in 2016 as soon as you heard the word, MARTHA!! Either way, people have strong opinions on Batman vs. Superman and our hosts are no different. This film has been hotly debated among our group since before we even had a podcast, which is why it made perfect sense to save this one for one of our big episodes, number 150! The gloves are off and we are going to go through this movie and defend it or destroy it, so no matter what side you're on, you'll be represented here. What did you think of Batman vs Superman? Love this film even with the flaws. At the end of the day I think we had the best cinematic version of Batman. Ben looks just like the Bruce Wayne cartoon he purposely smiled the way the cartoon did when he meets Clark for the first time. Great podcast as always

Ok why Lex is getting excited about introducing Bruce to Clark is bc he knows it’s Batman and Superman, that’s one of the reason he invited both of them there, it’s like a kid playing with his toys and he’s the one in on the joke and having fun with it.

To start the dream sequences were there to show Bruce’s ptsd that’s why before each dream u hear the sound of the Kryptonian world engine bc of the Black Zero event in metropolis that was shown in the beginning
People didn’t notice that because they are used to being spoon fed plots
To James’ point to this would be the time to skip the Wayne’s murder aka Bruce’s origin and go right into Batman is bc this Batman is the villain for the first hour and a half of the movie.
The reason they did Bruce’s origin was to show 20 yrs later Bruce still dreams of this, Bruce’s monologue to TELL the audience where his Batman is at “they(becoming Batman) brought me to the light… a beautiful LIE” and the other reason was to remind the audience that Bruce’s mother’s name is Martha

Ok so for the convenience of Bruce being invited to Lex’s party, there’s no convenience bc Lex purposely invited Bruce bc he WANTS him there to investigate get info on White Portuguese bc he WANTS him to kill Superman, Bruce is allowed to walk all around the party bc Lex wants give Bruce enough info he needs to take down Superman, he even makes a comment to him about coming to Metropolis to see what he’s been working on.
And the Robin suit is not Jason Todd’s, it’s Dick Grayson’s, Zack wanted to use Dick bc his death would be a much more logical from an emotional standpoint than Jason Todd just for comic book accuracy
His plan was to show Robin’s death from Batman and Joker’s point of view in JL2 during a last supper kinda deal before they go off and try and steal a mother box from Darkseid to use to power up the cosmic treadmill for Flash to go back in time to warn Bruce and save Lois from getting murdered by Darkseid
The Ben Affleck Batman movie didn’t happen not bc of a couple reasons, first Affleck was supposed to direct it but his experience on JL with Whedon made him contemplate suicide so Affleck decided to not direct so then WB hired Matt Reeves to direct but Reeves did not want his Batman being part of the JL universe which is why Affleck left the project
What’s weird is I thought the cinematic version was better to watch in one sitting then the directors cut, the film looks great and I liked Batman in the sand storm with a gun
Snyder's trilogy was operatic as fuck and I love it. Only thing that comes close is Nolan's Batman trilogy.
I think what he did was show what happens overpowered Titans fight in very populated areas people die so like Superman's depression was humanizing the same way he would go to his mom every single time that he was depressed
James, I know u said u will never watch the Ultimate Edition bc u can’t sit through 3 hours of it but I will say that with the UE u don’t even feel the 3 hours bc the pacing of the film flows really good whereas the theatrical version felt like 3 hours
As for Lex knowing who everyone is, he has files called the Metahuman thesis that he mentions in the beginning when talking about planetary defense or whatever. The files Batman sends Wonder Woman with the Justice League are Lex’s files, which I took as him pretty much doing his homework trying to find someone to kill Superman.
It suck’s we don’t see him finding out but that’s what makes this reveal here hit home harder and when u watch the movie again knowing that Lex already knows everyone’s identity pretty much and see how he plays everyone
The way they could of saved the whole "Martha" problem is right before he meets Bruce Wayne at the Lex Gala for the first time, when the photographer goes "that's Bruce Wayne you fucking idiot" So after the two meet, Clark has a funny feeling after hearing alfred in his ear and their "conversation" and decides to look into Bruce Wayne (on the internet or asks Lois about him or something) Then you could maybe have a throw away line where Clark sees they both of them have the same mothers name. So then when Batman and Superman meet, Superman x-rays Batmans cowl and knows it Bruce...So cut towards the Vs' part and in that last resort moment he uses their mother's as a way to hopefully stop Batman from killing him.. or something like that 😅

It is first we get accurate Batman who actual look like comic Batman fighting like comic batman.
Ok it took a day to think about the workout thing lol. They could have put the workout in the beginning of the film. He has to work out daily to keep his physical strength. It’s cannon anyhow. That would make more sense. Show it’s part of his daily routine. To lift a weight for sups..didn’t make sense

The Dark Knight the whole plot is Joker trying to get Batman to kill and at the end he kills Harvey Dent by pushing him off a building lol… but at least they established he has a no kill rule😂😂
Batman was trying to save Gordon’s son. The death of Harvey Dent was consequential. Only a total moron would conclude that he purposely broke his rule, as if it would be better had he just stood there and watched Harvey kill Gordon’s family. What a lawyerish take.

Once he said he loved Superman Returns I was out. Brandon did a great job of portraying the MoS, the movie itself was boring on all levels. It was just Superman the movie retold and I’ve seen that movie a billion times. This is what I tell people, most people don’t want the truth, justice and the American way because what does that mean in this climate today. What is the American way in today’s time? What is truth, when half the country the country and media are lying? What is justice when you see people being wrongly convicted of crimes and people who are guilty getting away with no type of justice being handed out? It’s fine if that’s what you like but the most of us live in the actual world where these things just seem to not be the case.
These guys don't know how to just sit back and watch a movie...Every 30 seconds is there to be judged and picked apart for them...Also, everyone missed the one dude call Darkseid "Dark-SEED" Plus, how could you watch this movie with a brain and not get that Lex knows Bruce is Batman and Clark is Superman??? It's mind boggling. Then again, one of them thinks "envy-ness" is a word and another didn't understand why Lois throws the spear in the water, so...
Matt, it’s a comedy show where we joke about movies - so every 30 seconds we’re trying to make people laugh. We’re not critics, we like these movies, and we don’t sit and watch movies this way in our regular lives.
Dude... did you not watch MoS? He's constantly saving people mid fight, but there's only so much you can do while someone is beating the shit out of you. Again, Snyder gave these movies stakes, instead of just not showing consequences like The Avengers.

The theatrical cut is garbage, ultimate cut saves it.
Another simple thing that would have redeemed it further and made the audience aware that these heroes are damaged because this isnt Earth prime but more like a backwater Earth vs Darksied is have Luthor reveal to Bruce at the end of the film that he is aware of darksied who has destroyed and beaten the justice league over and over across the multiverse. Setting up the fact this this dysfunctional earth with no justice league stands no chance, thus raising the stakes.
Just like 2 sentences would have done so much for the film not to mention inform the audience that yes this Supes kills, this Bats kills because this isnt the Earth prime version and was never meant to be.
Man of steel ... superman saved the earth lol . He barely learned how to fly . Never fought anyone . I love that for superman . ... i love man of steel and batman v superman . Great movies that will stand the test of time.
I really like BvS Ultimate despite it's flaws but I still can't stand Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, so bad.
His Lex Luthor was a tawdry copycat version of Heath Ledger’s Joker.

@@asnlunatic 9/10 when I hear people’s complaints about mos/bvs/ or JL it’s almost always people who weren’t paying attention to the film or misremembered. Rarely is it a legit criticism. And this video literally proved it

Jeremy Irons is my personal favorite Alfred in all films, Jesse was easily the worst Lex, and Amy Adams is also dog doo-doo in these movies.... Personally I think Zac Snyder's Justice League can blow. It's not good.

if you watch carefuly camptain amarica civil war they have the same plot as BvS, same politics after destruction, the rich guy taking care of people at an old age and conveniently for the plot, un acto terrorista en la corte, a master mind but well simo was way better write, and at the end the mom comflict with tony losing control but no one dies at the end, but is the same arc, what I hate for BsV is that zack use like 8 diferent plots from original comics in 1 movie just hate it and I really really hate that scene where clark ask - who is him? and stupid Jimmy Kimmel says- is bruce wayne WTF he is the second best journalist from dairy planet they use that stupid guy insted of Jimmy Olsen WTF (who get a re-imagined role as a CIA agent who dies in few seconds of movie just like jonathan kent in man of steel) damm the writer should be black listed forever omg

There is many things about this movie that I enjoy and there's a lot I think is plain stupid. The main issue I had with the infamous 'Martha' scene is that I always assumed that Bruce Wayne knows who Superman is, he knows his identity and about his background growing up in Smallville so I never got why he doesn't know his mothers name. The idea that Bruce Wayne & Alfred, with all their technology, could not work out Clark Kent is Superman seemed absurded. Also the fight scene pissed me off when Superman gets gassed the 2nd time. The 1st time makes sense because he catches the grenade and gets surprised by the kryponite gas but the 2nd he's regained his powers and could fly out and laser the building in half but instead he sees Batman reload his grenade and still runs at him. I get that they had to make it more even but they made it dumb.
Ok, just started watching, but throwing my opinion out before I hear yours. This movie straight up sucks. I couldn't even finish it. And that's wild for me. I've sat through some really bad films before. Couldn't do it for this one. I could lie and say I'll give it another chance. But I won't. Big clunker of a movie
