The holy day was switched from saturday to sunday back in the 400's AD so that italians could get hammered on friday and not have to get up for church the next morning.
There’s no evidence of that. In fact, there’s record that the first Christians celebrated the mass on Sunday because it was the day of the resurrection. We moved from 7th day to 8th day very, very early, as in the Apostles
you are aware Sunday is the beginning of the week as decided by both Jewish and Christians based on the Hebrew calendar? As it would stand that would make Saturday the supposed day of rest which i believe Judaism still follows. It would stand to reason that at some point the day of prayer was altered as was many days for various matters during the period of Christianity's rapid growth across Europe and Africa.
@@LordDarkfor I am very well aware that Saturday was the Sabbath. However, what Christians commemorate and have always commemorated is the resurrection of Christ, not the Sabbath of Creation. That doesn't diminish the day of rest, it elevates Christ's resurrection. This has been the case in Christianity since the beginning, hence why church is on Sundays, not Saturday.
@@LordDarkfor Yeah my mom is Christian and my dad is Jewish and so I’ve had a fair taste of both religions. We used to go to Synagogue every Saturday night and then church Sunday morning. However, that slowly stopped because the nearest Synagogue from where I live is in a completely different town.

Well, money lending in itself wasn't banned in the middle ages, but charging interest was. History Matters actually did a decent video on Medieval Banks and money lending. You should give it a watch.
The most interesting part about money lending with interest, if I remember it correctly, is that it was prohibited between Jewish people, too. It was something about the Torah saying one should not take interest from his brother (as in not from your tribe/religion/people). So, while it was forbidden for Jews to take interest from Jews, other religions were fair game. I haven't seen your proposed video, but I thought this add-in would fit the topic.
I wonder if that has anything to do with the topic being in the New Testament? Totally wondering here. I wonder if the warning against borrowing money in the New Testament had anything to do with the Jewish people being willing to loan money to the gentiles?
The practical reason for Mormon polygamy is that during their early years Mormons were persecuted with many men being killed leaving widows and children. At first the widow would be paired with a brother-in-law but brothers-in-law were always an option and the widows and children still had to be taken care of.
Some of the choosing a religion thing is partially true at least in prison. Some people will say they are Jewish because they prefer the Kosher meals. Not sure about in general life though. I only know this because I enjoy studying criminology and have heard it mentioned on multiple YT channels. I've also worked with many felons.
The Seventh Day Adventists have a lot more differences than just just having the Sabbath on a Saturday. All Adventists break off of the great disappointment, a big period of american history when they thought they solved when the rapture was happening. Now Seventh Day Adventusts (not all) also follow the teachings of a modern prophetess that is very controversial. There is more many other differences too (them being practicing vegetarians, they believe that the Catholic church and government will hunt them down, etc.), but its far more than just the differences in the day of rest.
Mormanism and Utah's statehood should never have been an issue. There's supposed to be a seperation of Church and State where the government can't tell you how to worship, yet they did so with Mormanism. _SMH_ And so many citizens of the USA wonder why other nations call us hypocrits.
The main split in Roman and Orthadox was over two or three fingers when signing the cross. Just a fun fact on those single issue splits, of course in time they drifted farther apart.
If people pick their religion based on holidays, rewards, and joy, we'd all be Pagan. Unfortunately, most people are forced into whatever religion their parents are. No questions allowed.
As a Jew, I'll say this. The whole 8 days of presents thing is something you only do if you're rich. In my family on Chanukah, you get all your presents on one day and that's it. Unless you meet different people on different days, but that was a rarity in my family.
I know plenty of non rich Jewish families and they got presents all 8 days but most of the 8 like 6 or 7 days they got like socks or very minor gifts and the last day or two were the major gifts
I watched one of those live cams in Mecca a couple of years ago and managed to catch a thunderstorm over the mosque. Very very cool. I wish that I, as a non-Muslim, were allowed to visit Mecca and Medina. I would love to see the mosques.

A bit of expansion on the "Muslims don't eat pork" from my Muslim wife. Pigs aren't banned because of being physically dirty. The ban isn't on pigs specifically, but on "all animals with pronounced canines" (wild pigs have tusks). Something about a dirty soul IIRC, it's been a while. So Muslims are also banned from eating animals like dogs, snakes, etc if they live in countries that eat those. Interpretation may have changed over the years, and may vary between different sects.
