So glad you guys released a better sized hub. Marketing will say slightly less responsive so that the 6.5 keeps some attraction, when I think most would agree there are zero disadvantages of going with a 6” over a 6.5”. Rather than try and market both, I think the majority would agree and appreciate if the 6.5 just got discontinued all together or rather that the 6” just came as the new standard. There are virtually zero advantages in going with a 6.5 over the 6. Any change in responsiveness would be little to unmeasurable. I could see there being a slight responsiveness difference between a 6.5 and 5, but even then.
A good move, and convenient with the BTG movement going on. I'd love to see more modularity when ordering. 6" hub? Add to configuration. Extended rails for 7" tires? Add to configuration. GT-S motor for the GT? Add to configuration.
@@Onewheel Maybe for these custom builds you can just ship the parts boxed separately and have the customer build their own custom board. I'm sure people will be happy to assemble at home. It is all plug and play anyways. No need to have 5 employees assemblying custom boards.

Just checked the website, doesn't describe the size of the hub during checkout. So, who knows? I do see the 6" hub on accessories page for a whopping $850!

On top of that I think this announcement just delayed me from her making a purchase of the GTS now I don't think they realize how big of a financial commitment that is in the first place. It's really hard to justify spending that much money in the current economic situations we r currently facing And now to add another $850 on top of that and the thought of knowing that hub is a better riding experience would give me buyers remorse. Damn. I feel like I just got salt rubbed in my wound 😢
Should have never changed to 6.5, way too tippy and doesn't absorb anything. Been riding since 2018, started on plus, moved to XR. I loved my XR and immediately hated the way the GT rode. Bought 3 different tires to try to make it a better ride, no good. Bought flat foot pads, no better. I exchanged the GT for the GTs because of the "low boys" foot pad and there is no notable difference. Looks like FM is gonna get another grand from me, but at least I'll love riding again.
If you want a cheaper/better alternative, there’s floatlife offering a 5” hub and 1wheelparts billet hub in 6” or 5” and they are more durable than any fm hub…lol

Best upgrade to my GT was a The Float Life 5" MTE HUB with ENDURO 655 SOFT tire. Less Wheel and More Tire makes for a Less Bumpy, More Nimble and Smooth Ride. 😎🤙🏻 Definitely happy to see that Onewheel is listening to it's base with the 6" GTS HUB. They are also now selling the GT Replacement Battery; big steps towards what the people want. Next step is being able to balance board with OW App. I have TFL Steep and Deep rails and have the utmost control and feel.

Are there any plans for a 5”? I don’t want to go buy the 6” and then week or two you drop a 5”. Kinda like the soft lowboy foot pads. I got those and then couple weeks later you drop the flared lowboys which I would have much preferred. Just would be nice to have some sort of game plan people could look at and see what is dropping in the near future.

Does the 6-in hub have the option of coming stock on the GTS or do I have to buy the GTS separately and then the 6-in hub separately and have it assembled after the fact? Our XR Trade In Program ended a few months ago. But this motor is for GT platforms. However since the tire is also being sold separately, it technically should fit onto an XR
Maybe that explains why carving the gt wasn't as fun as the xr when I upgraded. Custom shaping helped, but it was a loooong wait. They sure are making us gt riders feel like we made a mistake and should just get a gt-s. 😅
The context is they screwed up by trying to monopolize their gt wheel with a 6.5”. The community came up with going back to 6” and even 5” hubs.. they are losing money and riders so they brought back the 6” like they’re doing the community a favour.

@@BenjaminTemplar I'm in the same boat so i can relate 🤙🏾 since they made the hub a half inch smaller (the way it used be 6inches before they widened it to corner the tire market) you can fit a tire that holds more air hence more cushion/ comfort/control for the pushin. however this is not currently an option selection for a new GTS buyer (you have to buy Another motor to get the 6" hub size 🤯🤔) nor is there an option for you to purchase the 6" hub separately 😑

The tires are the same diameter, the same size, if you will, it's just the rim is different. With a 6" hub you have an extra half inch of sidewall to not only protect the rim of the hub but the extra rubber allows the tire to flex more, absorbing impacts and provide cushion.
@@rocknrory I haven't noticed a change going from the 6.5" stock Hub to the 5" MTE Hub. Or at least the delta is insignificant enough to be an anomaly. Your PSI has more to do with range than any other factor

Bigger sidewall buddy. Overall diameter is similar. Can run lower psi due to sidewall height. More tyre choice as well.
