the classical tale says that Rapunzel's parents were neighbors with a witch that grew rampion (some kind of cabbage) in her garden, and when the mother was pregnant, she had a craving for rampions, so the father stole the rampions from the witch's garden, and the witch was enraged, but she decided to spare his life if he gave her the baby (or in some versions, she outright went and stole the baby girl, but in kinder versions, she told Rapunzel's parents they would not miss their daughter, as they would have more children after her and forget all about her), then Rapunzel gets locked in a tower to keep her isolated till a prince came and fell in love with her at first sight, when the witch found out, she sheared off Rapunzel's hair and banished her with a spell, and then when the prince came, the witch cornered him and caused him to fall off the tower and into a thorn bush, resulting in him becoming blind, the prince then wandered till he heard Rapunzel singing, and they reunited, Rapunzel's tears some how restored the prince's sight
for me, the saddest part was always that Rapunzel's parents never see her again. she has her "happily ever after" with the prince; she doesn't have much memory of her parents; but they definitely remember her, don't they?
I’ve read it my grandmother had an old copy of it and I always found myself picking up another book immediately after probably because the original version was so dark
My dad read a copy of Grimm Fairy Tales to me when I was younger and I didn't watch Tangled till after I had read the original story. I enjoyed the book more! I liked the part when she asks the witch why she was heavier than the prince.
I'm only 10 years old and I don't know why I am watching this but it ruined my childhood and it is just MESSED UP I mean like why is it SO CRUEL JUST WHY. 😢😢😢😢

no, i'm pretty sure the version in the video is the original, but it was changed to the version you have
