I had two liver shots in life. Once when I was 12 the other when I was 17. And both just made my body shut down it was hard to move I couldn't breath right. That is some of the nastiest pain in the world.

The liver shuts down with all the nerves there then your blood pressure drops as you body is trying to over compensate for the loss pressure but the heart slows down as well and you pass out or your body shuts down

I remember I wanted to start training Muay Thai in one gym and on the first day there were sparrings and I got hit by a guy with a back kick right into the liver. It felt like you got shot with a shotgun. Your body just collapses. I felt down on the ground and I couldn't get up for about a minute. The guy just asked me: "You ok?" I said "I'm good" even though I was kneeling on the ground in a terrible pain. When he saw I was no longer useful to him as a sparring partner he just went to hit the nearest heavy bag. I never came to that gym again. I don't want to discourage anyone from starting a combat sport, you just have to pick the right gym.

I’ve been hit clear in the liver 2 times in boxing during sparring when I was 17 and 21. It was BY FAR the most uncomfortable feeling I had ever felt. It’s like every ounce of air instantly leaves your body but at the same time you can’t breath so you’re gasping after every little amount of air you can get. I honestly don’t remember how much it hurt but I was pretty busy trying not to die so I suppose focus was elsewhere lol.
My first and last liver shot was self inflicted when I was a kid. I was running away from my sister and slipped straight into the corner of the counter. Never want to feel that again. I know, its not as cool as everyone elses stories

A liver shot sort of feels like an explosion that happens in your body, it starts in one localized spot then spreads so rapidly to the point where you can't even tell where the pain is coming from. At its peak it feels like not only your body is in pain, but it's almost as if it reaches the point where there is a little cloud of pain blanketing the outside of your body too. Then it all fades away nearly as quickly as it began.
I've been hit fairly hard in the liver during a mosh pit and the only way I can describe it is like a sort of a nutshot in the torso. It's a dry yet sharp pain that's super debilitating, to the point of not being able to do anything for a while.

When it finally wore off, I was just fine though. Very odd experience. I can’t imagine being in a fight and need to defend myself while under the effects of a liver shot. Crazy. Oh in boxing you can't try to "defend" when liver shot, a well given punch to the liver there's no human body that can stay up and absorb the pain , that's why is such a key to boxing , because you basically shut down a person . Sometimes head punches you can stay up and just kinda survive as long as you don't "go to sleep" with a punch to the liver, you don't choose to stay up, your brain shuts down your body
As an amateur First time i sparred a pro boxer i got dropped twice with left to the liver and uppercut to the solar plexus. The worst pain ever. after that experience i glued my right hand to my side and never got dropped again and dropped dudes in sparring with body shots. Having a coach that trained a young Alexis Arguello helped a lot too
I remember in elementary these two other kids attacked me in the gym after recess; one hit me in the balls, I remember groaning and trying to back up, then another guy hit me in the liver and I went down immediately, crying in pain. If you've never been hit in the liver, absolutely do not let it happen because it's worse than getting hit in the nuts imo.
I've taken 2/3, never been off my feet but just backed up and tucked up for 30 seconds. There's really no thoughts going through your head bar surviving when you've been caught. Hence why DC got lit up by the 1-2
I got crowned by a kid in football. He placed his helmet directly into my liver while I was running the ball. He ended up injuring his neck, but the pain I felt was 200x worse than what he felt. It knocked the wind out of me completely, I felt dizzy the rest of the game, and was left with a gnarly bruise for the next 2-3 weeks.

I got dropped by one two weeks ago... It sucks and I still feel it. It's been years since I've been really hurt by one. It's delayed and at first when you fall to your knees you think it may be a broken rib because the pain is in the top right of your ribs but its not, it's behind them. And it just doesn't go away... it stays for weeks and you cant sleep on that side or on your stomach. It really really sucks
I got hit really hard near the side of the liver not directly and boy did that shit hurt. I couldn't breath as well, I thought I was gonna die right there. Thank fully my teammate knew what to do and help me calm down a bit. I was able to get up and play after a few seconds but that spot still hurt. A real liver shot, that shit was painful. It was a small jab but my body just went down immediately. Couldn't get up for a few minutes without pain. I could breath fine since it wasn't hard hit but still. Respect for MMA fighters

I remember having a couple of fights where my opponent went to the body heavily and it felt like my torso was on fire and that I was going to throw up from the pain/burning sensation. Never felt anything like that before. Then again, those were more from a sustained attack rather than a sharp one shot.

I got hit in the liver during a sparring match, it was a light jab that made me drop to my knees. I didnt feel much pain other than how shocked I was from how I fell to my knees. Im 225 and I have light training, my sparring partner (friend) was a boxer who weighed 190 with 8 to 9 years of boxing experience. It was fun although I had a tough time hitting him, although I judo flipped him and kept the match on the ground for 2 round and won. That jab was very well felt in my legs as I had trouble wrapping around him and constant wobbling.

Fighting is easy when you imagine what moves you'll make in your head because its slow, paced, predictable. In reality its fast, you don't see half of them, you may just swing in hopes of landing something, you may get floored without even seeing the fist.. You will most likely end up throwing a few fists around like an idiot and either falling and grappling, or you'd both step away and trade insults and eventually walk away. Even those trained in Martial Arts look less than graceful in a street fight.

I’ve been hit clear in the liver 2 times in boxing during sparring when I was 17 and 21. It was BY FAR the most uncomfortable feeling I had ever felt. It’s like every ounce of air instantly leaves your body but at the same time you can’t breath so you’re gasping after every little amount of air you can get.
I honestly don’t remember how much it hurt but I was pretty busy trying not to die so I suppose focus was elsewhere lol.

A liver shot sort of feels like an explosion that happens in your body, it starts in one localized spot then spreads so rapidly to the point where you can't even tell where the pain is coming from. At its peak it feels like not only your body is in pain, but it's almost as if it reaches the point where there is a little cloud of pain blanketing the outside of your body too. Then it all fades away nearly as quickly as it began.
I've been hit fairly hard in the liver during a mosh pit and the only way I can describe it is like a sort of a nutshot in the torso. It's a dry yet sharp pain that's super debilitating, to the point of not being able to do anything for a while.

I was hit in the liver playing football. I couldn’t get off the ground for a minute then had to crawl limp off the field with assistance. Incredibly painful. When it finally wore off, I was just fine though. Very odd experience. I can’t imagine being in a fight and need to defend myself while under the effects of a liver shot. Crazy. Like a knock out body punch sort of.
Oh in boxing you can't try to "defend" when liver shot, a well given punch to the liver there's no human body that can stay up and absorb the pain , that's why is such a key to boxing , because you basically shut down a person . Sometimes head punches you can stay up and just kinda survive as long as you don't "go to sleep" with a punch to the liver, you don't choose to stay up, your brain shuts down your body

As an amateur First time i sparred a pro boxer i got dropped twice with left to the liver and uppercut to the solar plexus. The worst pain ever. after that experience i glued my right hand to my side and never got dropped again and dropped dudes in sparring with body shots. Having a coach that trained a young Alexis Arguello helped a lot too
I remember in elementary these two other kids attacked me in the gym after recess; one hit me in the balls, I remember groaning and trying to back up, then another guy hit me in the liver and I went down immediately, crying in pain. If you've never been hit in the liver, absolutely do not let it happen because it's worse than getting hit in the nuts imo.
I've taken 2/3, never been off my feet but just backed up and tucked up for 30 seconds. There's really no thoughts going through your head bar surviving when you've been caught. Hence why DC got lit up by the 1-2
I got crowned by a kid in football. He placed his helmet directly into my liver while I was running the ball. He ended up injuring his neck, but the pain I felt was 200x worse than what he felt. It knocked the wind out of me completely, I felt dizzy the rest of the game, and was left with a gnarly bruise for the next 2-3 weeks.

He bet me $100 that I couldn't take a bean bag shot. I took the bet. I'm 6'2 275 he shot 1 bag where the rib cage ends, I took 1 step forward and I folded. I couldn't get up and I could barely crawl. Not the smartest thing I've done but not the dumbest.

I got dropped by one two weeks ago... It sucks and I still feel it. It's been years since I've been really hurt by one. It's delayed and at first when you fall to your knees you think it may be a broken rib because the pain is in the top right of your ribs but its not, it's behind them. And it just doesn't go away... it stays for weeks and you cant sleep on that side or on your stomach. It really really sucks

I couldn't breath for 20 seconds from my first real liver shot. Good thing I didn't felt much pain, the fear of just dying was stronger.
I got hit really hard near the side of the liver not directly and boy did that shit hurt. I couldn't breath as well, I thought I was gonna die right there. Thank fully my teammate knew what to do and help me calm down a bit. I was able to get up and play after a few seconds but that spot still hurt.
A real liver shot, that shit was painful. It was a small jab but my body just went down immediately. Couldn't get up for a few minutes without pain. I could breath fine since it wasn't hard hit but still. Respect for MMA fighters

Never felt anything like that before. Then again, those were more from a sustained attack rather than a sharp one shot.

I had a liver shot last week in my kickboxing class, it's like a terrible feeling in my spine and the inside of my body, like a type of pain i had not experienced before, and my body basically started wanting to just lay on the floor even though i didn't want to. I managed to stay on my feet but bent over and grabbing my liver. I don't want to be kicked in the liver ever again lol.

The liver shot I got was when I was playing football as a teenager and someone took a shot that went right into my stomach. I realise now that it must have hit my liver because I was floored instantly& caused me a pain I’d never experienced before. I still remember what it was like. It felt like I’d been stabbed& I couldn’t breathe for some time.
I got hit in the liver during a sparring match, it was a light jab that made me drop to my knees. I didnt feel much pain other than how shocked I was from how I fell to my knees. Im 225 and I have light training, my sparring partner (friend) was a boxer who weighed 190 with 8 to 9 years of boxing experience. It was fun although I had a tough time hitting him, although I judo flipped him and kept the match on the ground for 2 round and won. That jab was very well felt in my legs as I had trouble wrapping around him and constant wobbling.
For anyone who doesn't know what a liver shot FEELS like, go and watch Bas Rutten liver shotting people and watch the reactions on their faces to get a good idea.

Good Luck, Remember that as you're trying to aim, your opponent is moving and swinging at you. Fighting is easy when you imagine what moves you'll make in your head because its slow, paced, predictable.
In reality its fast, you don't see half of them, you may just swing in hopes of landing something, you may get floored without even seeing the fist.. You will most likely end up throwing a few fists around like an idiot and either falling and grappling, or you'd both step away and trade insults and eventually walk away.
Even those trained in Martial Arts look less than graceful in a street fight.
