RUclips must have really fixed the comments algorithm because it’s lovely now
You can really hear the hop along in her voice and the pinegrove in the guitar playing. I can't believe I hadn't heard of these guys before now... definitely a fan now.
Being a "one youtube video at a time" kinda guy, i really, really appreciate, above all else, the super quick and simple intro, then just straight into the music, love it, thanks.
I like the "lead melody" role that the bass has in their songs. It makes the song sound kind of thin, but it covers the lack of a lead guitar, and really gives personality to their music
I like it and hate it at the same time, need two basses :P
Joy Division/ New Order came to mind
Kelly plays a lot further up the register than I like to, but it works and works well for them as a lead instrument.
There is a lack of lead guitar in most music out there so I don't see the big deal.
@@jimlovesgina nono, not a big deal, but it makes them stand out a lot more in comparison
The drummer's shirt...I had one like that in 1993. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised to discover that is indeed my exact shirt. This band kicks major arse!
The bass really brings these tracks together for me. I wouldn't have minded if the vocals were a bit higher in the mix though, Georgia Maq has a really powerful voice that should be highlighted. Awesome set nonetheless, I'm pumped for that second LP dropping next year.
This is by far the coolest band I've seen in a long time. The song titles and lyrics are so well thought out. Bass carrying the melody and a jazzmaster for the meat of it sounds so original. The drums are all emotion too its unreal. They should be the face of good indie music. So glad i found this band they're like therapy but useful
The bass and the guitar are coequal voices and they interact here is really good. Its a great approach for a three piece.
Kelly is my bass idol.
Kelly is a fucking badass. My inspiration to learn the bass 🤘🏻💛
Words can't express how much I admire these three. They're going places, fast.
So glad they're getting popular here in the states now! such a cool band
This is honestly the best Audiotree live interview I've ever seen. Awesome band, great interview.
I'm really obsessed with this band. Such amazing lyrics, vocals and melody... Everything fits together so perfectly and Camp Cope's songs give me inspiration and strenght to have a girl* band too! Thank you a lot for this!
And thanks Audiotree for another amazing session!
If this inspires you to get a girl band happening, that's fantastic. They are a great inspiration for others, as are Cable Ties (2 out of 3, bloke on bass), but it's all about expressing yourself with words, music or both. If it's you, be true to yourself and be you
i feel exactly the same
"she's doing something different on the bass, somebody stop her!"
Alright, I shit you not, your comment is actually the FB banner of the bassist's personnal page
Better yet, get Peter Hook to throw a pint at the haters.
Almost like making the bass the lead guitar, freshing!
This band takes licks and riffs we all know and love, then adds great singing melodies and lyrics that make you think. We need more bands like this.
Love the melodic bass lines, voice, and off kilter beats.
I've been refreshing the channel page every day waiting for this. I'm so glad it's finally here!
I was totally like this too!
Me too dude.
This band very much reminds me of Dinosaur jr. and I love it.
- full sound
- peculiar melodic drum rhythms
- melodic basslines
- rhythmic guitar of sort of made-up chords and little bits of fills here and there
Very cool
Except Dinosaur JR had good drummers, her technique is woeful. Dosent even know the proper way to hold her sticks yet thinks all criticism of her playing is 'misogyny'.
Yeah, except Dinosaur Jr are talented.
@@robertrood4728ah yes, because famously the quality of a band’s music is dictated by the technical expertise of the members.
So long camp cope, it was fun :)
2015-2023
Such a great Band. Miss them already ❤
camp cop is one of the best Aussie bands
This band has gotten me through so much. 3 years I come back maybe more
In Maq we trust
They all playing so fucking tight! Love everything about it. They are fucking georgus
I needed this to happen, thank you Audiotree !
Seriously my favorite band right now playing on one of my favorite channels. Thank you
Cannot wait to finally see Camp Cope in Germany next week! they are from my home town but I've sadly never seen them live before!!!
Absolutely awesome performance
:)
What happened to Tuesdays with tay?
(:
Show'em Kelly!!!
They sound exactly like they do on record
3 things, Bassist is amazing. She pretty much carries the sound of this band. The singer has awesome notes belting them out. and finally an Audio Tree interviewer who isn't the most awkward person in the world.
I like this band, their sound isn't anything special, but it does everything it needs to do and very well for relaxed easy listening.
The Insomniac Died yeah she can play a bass so good
The Insomniac Died I don't know how you can even really judge the host on this session. She barely interviewed them and the questions that were asked weren't very good
This doesn't do Georgia's voice any justice whatsoever. Check out their tracks on Like A Version.
Their debut album was incredibly good. I appreciate Georgia Maq's voice a lot, but her song writing is top notch.
it's easy to play bass when you only have to cover 4 notes
Flog
I so wish I could see you live.
Please come to Olympia or Tacoma or Seattle.
Awesome! Thanks audiotree for introducing me to another killer band!!
love these gals.. what great music.
damn such a badass band
That snare sounds killer!
Apaixonada por esse baixo!!! Linha foda!
Love these guys
Totally buying their album
Great song!!! Good job ladies!
Y'all are so inspirational to us!
MARAVILHOSAS
Did some of you even listen to this whole set? Their a 3 piece! The bass is one of the elements that make this band unique. If the girl was just strictly following the root notes of the guitar player it would be underwhelming and bland. Stop your complaining and go make some music.
I think Georgia is a great lyricist but you're right, Kelly's bass is what makes them stick out musically.
Half correct. Playing the root notes is often the whole bloody point of a bass guitar. But sure, quote that and take that quote out of context
You couldn't be more wrong. If you're a bass player and your just playing root notes than you either are lazy or you just really should put the bass down and maybe take up knitting.
@@dudedude8931 Yes and no, some songs need no more than root. There's no point in going all Jaco Pastorius over a punk rock song. A good bassist, imho, does what's needed.
Nick Harman as you said that’s your opinion. IMHO I like a bass player that adds some flavor to the song. While percussive, a bass does not need to be as passive of an instrument if it’s done with fidelity.
These lyrics hit me hard
wow they like pinegrove, that's really good news
Amazing. Love the shout out to Bikini Kill and Tigers Jaw. :)
OMG!!! I love this band!!!!!
Two minutes in, and I can tell at least the singer is a Hop Along fan.
Edit: 25:27 lol
Bourbon baby
I thought the same thing when I first heard them! the end of trepidation sounds just like Frances
I call bullshit
I thought the same thing right out of the gate...but after listening for a bit, this is an entirely different animal, methinks.
How fun! They are so cute ❤️ the energy makes me happy
I couldn’t help imagining her voice resemblance like young Chan Marshall (Cat Power). I got hooked to this band not only cause her voice but the sound this band has is atmospheric.
Great band. I hope you will come to Japan someday.
This is soooo good! Kickass girls.
Great interview, cool band
The feeling is mutual from Philadelphia.
Kelly is truly a great bassist
This band is so rad!!! I fucking love it! I cant stop listening to this band!!!!!
Hell yeah!!!!!!
Such a good band!
Last song went so hard!! Damn this is my new favorite band!!!!! 😁
i was gay before but this made me gay
+
Great band!
God I love them.
J mascis signature Jazzmaster?
davies315 looks like it
She has both models. I guess she uses the squire one when they travel.
davies315 No wonder why that JM looked so familiar lol. Just recently go a Fender telecaster, definately gonna try and get a JM next.
Been waiting for this :)
They inspire me
Literally watching... Lost (Season One) :)
wowee wowee!
Hi, there. I'm from Mexico and I just discovered them. They sound amazingly good. I love a girl drummer, the bass is amazing and the voice is fantastic.
You rock.
Cool, love the bass non bass and the drums and the vocals!!!
34:13 woah love this part in this version
Man, Jazzmasters sound amazing.
Best and last guitar I will ever buy.
Randall Chua Surprised that it's a Squier and not a Fender. Regardless, JM's are so good.
this need to be on vinyl
Thanks for coming to audiotree Camp Cope, We won't go into what you guys had to go through to get to America
*goes into it in little details anyways*
Anyone hanging shit on the drums for not being more complicated or lack of lead guitar are totally missing the point and, sadly, denying themselves something really amazing.
wayne shafton YES
whats the point then?
piss off aye
@@eleanorharrison1181 The drumming is shithouse, its like listening to a child with two lessons behind them play.
Sick band :)
Such a good set, wish they had of played West side story though
so fucking good
PERFEITAS
Kelly showed 'em
Love you girls. xx
❤
The sound is excellent! (As usual on Audiotree.)
Philburnians Camp Cope should could cover The Hooters from Philadelphia. How about turning "Karla With A K." into "Kelly With A K."?
Sweet.
Power trio OMG
Rad one!!
all I want now is Jeff Rosenstock and Camp Cope to tour together...
Cam O or camp cope and mom jeans
good bassist.
melody kind of sounds like a Rainer Maria song especially the bass
Finally, someone said it.
yes, and it's a good thing
yeah i really enjoy this band, but totally Rainer Maria. Oh well, if you had to be obviously influenced by one band, RM is as good as it gets.
All of Camp Cope songs sound like someone elses songs, what Georgia lacks in originality she makes up for with malignant narcissism and blatant plagiarism.
Wooaaahhhh
love at first listen
Am I hearing a new Frances Quinlan?(not saying that angel could ever be replaced) any who they all shred
Come to Brazil!!!
i love everything about keep growing !!!
they remind me of the adventures a little bit
Run-For-Cover-Core. I.E, bands that mix Midwest emo with early-90s K-Records Twee Pop. I really do like this band though.
bassist is fucking dope
essas minina toca demai
Fressshh!
