So far the Aqara G4 has been working great and Aqara just released another update. What is your favorite HomeKit Secure Video of the 3 currently on the market?
I have had the Logitech CircleView and Wemo. Both eventually failed less than a year in to service. I received a replacement under warranty for the Logitech and you can only use that 1 time. Second one failed. The Wemo kept disconnecting and was a pain to reset. Getting ready to try G4! Thanks for the video, great job on your presentation!
The Aqara has been great so far, only downside you may find vs. the other two is the field of view if you want to watch packages placed near the door. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Aqara is knocking it outside the park with this doorbell and that new lock. You plan on getting the lock as well? I really like the fingerprint reader if Schlage had the fingerprint reader it would be perfect. Great vid as always look forward to the next one.
After the initial hiccups the G4 Doorbell has been working great! I am currently testing their smart lock and all I can say for now is it’s definitely promising 😉 Thanks for sticking with the channel, it’s much appreciated! 🙏
So far, so good. No issues after that, BUT I’m not sure if that was indeed the cure, it could have been a combination of things but I did restart and set-up from scratch before pulling the batteries and had the same issues.
Hi Rey, It supports seeing who is outside directly on the TV, which is great. I would like to ask if your TV supports HomeKit? Or are you connecting to AppleTV externally?
Thank's for the review. Could you tell me if the motion sensor can work, and be used in automations, like a motion sensor (e.g. Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2)
great video. Since the camera doesn't show the ground for packages, is there an option to have notifications delivered with snapshots (in either Homekit or the Aqara app)? Thanks
Make sure BOTH your lock and your doorbell are in the same room. Mine are both located in my living room since that is where the front door lock is located. Also, make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account as the Home. Hope that helps.
I added the Logitech video doorbell before the Aqara came out. As my doorbell resides in a continuously shaded porch with several feet of depth, and our house is just a few miles from the ocean, it is rare to get temps that are reported to cause problems a for the Logitech doorbell. Indeed, I have never had it shut down from heat. However, during the past 16 months it has been in use, it has become unresponsive and requires a fresh reconnection to Apple Home about 5-6 times. I get a full view of faces for face recognition and of the ground for package detection. As you’ve noted, the 1080p limitation is horrible. We have a table on the porch that offers snacks and drinks to the delivery people coming to the door (my wife is an Olympic level online shopper). We then noticed we had a their coming to steal all of the snack at night. Despite being very close to the camera, the poor quality made it hard to get a richly detailed image of her. Interestingly, even with a moderate quality image, our mailman knew exactly who it was and where she lived. I leave the remainder of this offline.
I also have the G4 but only on batteries, but did not find any review about the changes with batteries/wires. Does wiring the G4 makes it more responsive on Home for you? Sometimes it can takes up to 4-5seconds before the livestream can load for me. Doesn't want to spend hundreds to wire it if it doesn't changes anything Thank!
The G4 is one of the more responsive cameras in my Home feed. I would suggest ensuring your issue is not network related. Place the Chime repeater as close to the doorbell as possible, I placed mine on a table right beside the door and the the doorbell signal is showing as very good and network information indicates a WiFi signal of 93% with an RSSI of -34. An RSSI of -40 or higher is better. Also, the lower (note negative number) the number the more the battery will drain. If you can remove the network as being the issue then make sure you have the latest firmware version and try removing and setting it up again. If your issue persists then hardwiring could help. I’ve read of other users finding hardwiring to improve their experience with the G4. Good luck!
Do you need an aqara hub to use the video doorbell? Every time I try to add the aqata g4 on the aqara app, it gets to the 4th step and I get the error message stating failed to send network configuration information. Thank you!
The G4 doorbell comes with its own hub. If you want to access the doorbell remotely via HomeKit then you will also need a Home hub like an Apple TV or HomePod.
The G4 has worked great in my usage so far. We’re heading into the summer and it gets hot where I am so fingers-crossed it holds up. Thanks for watching!🙏
Aqara is probably gonna be as safe as other smart home devices on the market. No more, no less. I still use Eufy as the recent concern was discovered and AFAIK, there have been no reports of it being exploited.
Why I don't see any notification setting in HomeKit? I only see Status and when opened I only see one option (Include in Home Summaries), when the doorbell pressed I don't get any notification from HomeKit, only Aqara app. Any can help please?
My Aqara doesn't work as it should at all. It doesn't detect any motions and then the batteries died after 1 week. I replaced the batteries and then the alarm went off. Now the batteries ran out after a week because the alarm was sounded 12 hours without notifying me. I NEED help. Who can help me? a
I tried to get into the video, but you said "Home kit" 16 times in less than 3 and a half minutes! There's nothing wrong with Apple if you have it, but this video is clearly aimed at Home Kit users and for that reason, I'm out!
So it was the mention of HomeKit in the video itself and NOT the thumbnail with “HomeKit” bold in the title, nor the logo of the series “HomeKit Sweet Home” that tipped you off that this was specific to HomeKit?! 🤔 Thanks for stopping by 😉
@@jcm9698 Thanks, I went with the Eufy Dual Camera doorbell to get more vertical range. So far, I'm not disappointed. 8gb free storage, but it's in the device itself.

Hi, can the doorbell record voice when the doorbell is pressed or when it's not pressed while viewing the videos during playback?

Great video, love a followup to see if removing the batteries is a fix for the missing motion clips, thanks.

Hi Rey, It supports seeing who is outside directly on the TV, which is great. I would like to ask if your TV supports HomeKit? Or are you connecting to AppleTV externally?
The view on the TV is via Apple TV. The TV does support HomeKit but that alone won’t display the video from the doorbell.
Thank's for the review. Could you tell me if the motion sensor can work, and be used in automations, like a motion sensor (e.g. Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2)

Hey … How do you get the front door lock to show up on your Apple TV . I have the Level Lock + on Apple TV 4K 2nd generation
Make sure BOTH your lock and your doorbell are in the same room. Mine are both located in my living room since that is where the front door lock is located. Also, make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account as the Home. Hope that helps.

Hoping HomeKit moves to 4K at some point but the storage for iCloud would no doubt cause a strain on the system.

I bought the G4 and was hoping the rumors were true about Aquara developing a weather proof outdoor camera but haven’t seen one yet.
No release at CES either. Hopefully in the future but I agree, Aqara would make some great outdoor cameras.
What do you need to have to see the image from the doorbell on your TV?
How do you get the doorbell to show up on your Apple TV? Mine isn’t connecting. It’s on the same Wi-Fi.
Make sure your Apple TV has HomeKit enabled and logged into the same iCloud account. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Good stuff!!!
I’m in the market for a HomeKit doorbell

How safe is Aqara ? I know eufy was the sweetheart of the smart devices until it was revealed that they had security breaches
Aqara is probably gonna be as safe as other smart home devices on the market. No more, no less. I still use Eufy as the recent concern was discovered and AFAIK, there have been no reports of it being exploited.
Using an iphone14 I cannot seem to scan the QR code on the camera to get this set up. Any suggestions?
Same issue using samsung note 10.

Do you have a Home hub?
Does it need to have a apple TV gen4 or homepod?
You will need a Home hub if you want to access this remotely.
Read/wrire operation failed. 74
It added to HomeKit it not the app :(
Try resetting and adding to the native app first then to HomeKit.
That’s what I did. I found the solution if someone needs it.
Remove battery on the bell and leave it alone while pairing the indoor unit first
My Aqara doesn't work as it should at all. It doesn't detect any motions and then the batteries died after 1 week. I replaced the batteries and then the alarm went off. Are all the updates applied? I would reset and reconfigure everything.
This guy sounds so boring. I gotta change the video.

It will work with Alexa/Google or just through the Aqara app; you are not stuck with HomeKit.
