Thanks for watching! I recorded dual guitars for this one - youre watching the recording for the left speaker audio. Also, phone speakers dont do the low tuned stuff justice so use headphones for that 😅
Haha, it was on my list but it's also really similar to Awaken the Master 💀 two and four notes per string, lots of chromaticism and tritones... plus I wanted Awaken in there since it's their only 8 string song (so far)
Petrucci always comes up with such killer riffs, would’ve loved to have seen songs like Pull Me Under and Panic Attack but a great array of songs regardless. Killed it, man
Great stuff my dude! My only criticism is, and you are not the only one doing it, people who put the tabs at the bottom, it makes it so much harder to pause and look at the tabs because the timeline and all that gets in the way. If there is a way to hide the timeline when paused just forget what i said.
cheers! Yeah I agree, I've trialled tabs at the top in a recent vid and will probably be filming with that placement in mind \m/ unfortunately I got through most of this video's editing a little while before I'd had the realisation haha
Excellent as always! Whats your process for learning songs? Any tips on memorizing harder parts and solos? Do you offer this as a GP file to download? It would be great to slow it down to try and learn. :)
Unfortunately not! Tough parts just come down to practice, playing slow until the pieces fit, then working on speed. Personally, I don't find memorisation too hard once I've figured out something slowly - I try and let muscle memory kick in. And sorry, no GP file:( I usually provide them, but for the riffs I literally just went to the top tabs on Ultimate Guitar and made slight changes to the top rated tabs. I didn't even need to change much! If I were to upload a GP file for this, it'd take a while to put all the riffs together + I would be essentially just plagiarising someone else's work haha.

Great job man. It’s a travesty to leave dark eternal night off here. Best riffs they ever wrote
Amazing playing! My favorite riffs are probably Home and The Glass Prison, Petrucci's use of wah is so great!
Yeah true! I probably should have added the wah via a Neural plugin or something hahaha. Love those Home wahs in particular.
Love that your drop D guitar is a Synyster model.
Yesss! Felt like I had to, a7x is such a big part of my musical influences and this channel's growth. Glad you noticed!
I'm so glad you included Stream of Consciousness. Strong contender for my favorite Petrucci riff. Awesome playing!
EXCELENT, DESERVE MORE VIEWS!!! Saludos desde Argentina!
Great choice of riffs, great playing, great tones and great production values on the video. Really nice stuff.
Cheers@!
Thanks for providing tabs for Dream Theater and A7X bro! 💪
No problem! Always happy to help out with some tabs for both bands 😉
Great playing and awesome song choice. Also, very good taste in guitars ;)
All great but you missed the best riff of em all, the dark eternal night
Haha, it was on my list but it's also really similar to Awaken the Master 💀 two and four notes per string, lots of chromaticism and tritones... plus I wanted Awaken in there since it's their only 8 string song (so far)
It's just slowed down dig by mudvayne

Great picks! It was definitely hard to narrow it down.
@ Can’t say I blame you, still a killer list regardless and props for adding the new song as well. It’s absolutely killer

dream theater, as always using the all the guitar tunings
I wonder what tuning hell the next album has in store
Bra-fucking-vo!!! this was amazing!!!
Much love man!
Dark Eternal Night
Great video! Could you maybe put the tabs a little higher or on top of the screen? That makes them easier to read when the video is paused. Thanks!
Yeah definitely carrying that forward for future uploads! Unfortunately can't change it on this video though
Great song picks and playing, but I do feel that there is perhaps a bit too much gain on the amp.
Sick cover? where do you get the backing tracks/stems?
@@williamzhou5087 searched each track up on youtube - just looked for 'guitar backing track' after each song title :)
